A woman and a toddler were killed early Saturday morning when their car struck a tree in Valley Forge National Historical Park. According to the Upper Merion Township Police Department, the car veered off the road near the intersection of Route 23 and County Line Road around 1:15 a.m.
There were three people inside the car. When officers arrived, they found the woman, who was in the front passenger seat, dead inside the Toyota sedan. The driver had removed a 3-year-old from the vehicle.
The child was rushed to a nearby hospital but died from traumatic injuries. The male driver suffered minor injuries and is expected to physically recover.
Police have not released the names of the victims. The crash is under investigation.
