Three men and a juvenile were arrested and charged in a Philadelphia car theft ring, in which authorities said they used cloned, reprogrammed key fobs.
The Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office said 19-year-old Tyreek Brown-Lopez, 20-year-old Kaheem Henry, 21-year-old Kwadir Brockington and the juvenile accessed cars through sunroofs, then altered key fobs so they could steal the vehicles.
Dozens of cars — mostly Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep vehicles — were stolen and sometimes resold for as little as $200.
Each of the three men is charged with theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property, possession of an instrument in a crime, and unauthorized use of an automobile. Officials said the other defendant will go through the juvenile system.
Prosecutors said the car theft ring was uncovered during a firearms investigation, which is still ongoing.
