Police and a religious group say a U.S. missionary couple has been shot and killed by criminal gang members in Haiti’s capital.
The husband and wife, identified as Davy and Natalie Lloyd, were ambushed last night as they and a group of children left a youth group activity at a church in Port-au-Prince, according to authorities.
Police say a third person also was killed.
Gang killings are on the rise across Haiti. Kidnappings also are rampant, with targets including U.S. missionaries.
The US has long had a “do not travel” advisory for Haiti and urges any U.S. citizens in the country to leave as soon as possible.
