100 years ago, the 18th Amendment gripped the nation in its icy talons and latched on like an eagle trying deliver the last salmon of the season to its tiny little precious eagle baby. We're talking about prohibition, the amendment to the Constitution that banned the manufacture and sale of alcohol. In Philadelphia, it was slightly less welcome than an Emmitt Smith jersey on Sunday afternoon at the Linc. So, the Beer and Booze Broz started investigating how Philly resisted prohibition, wading through thousands of speakeasies and countless bathtubs full of gin to uncover the truth behind the mobsters, money, and moonshine that ran Philly a hundred years ago.
