Did a SEPTA police officer use excessive force over perceived fare evasion?

  •  SEPTA has shared with KYW Newsradio video of a scuffle earlier this month between a young woman and a SEPTA police officer after a dispute over whether the 19-year-old was trying to evade a fare. Her lawyer says it was excessive use of force while SEPTA says the officer did everything right.
  • New Jersey’s attorney general has filed a complaint against Virtua Health, accusing the health system of performing drug tests on pregnant patients without their consent, a violation of their civil rights.
  • Commissioners of Okaloosa County are scheduled to vote on a $10.1 million plan on Tuesday to move the ocean liner from South Philly, remove environmental hazards, and then sink it off the coast of Destin-Fort Walton Beach. The plan includes building an on-land museum there too.

  • Ensuring safe and fair elections in Philadelphia has been a priority of Committee of 70 since it was founded in 1904.  KYW Community Impact Reporter Racquel Williams says the nonpartisan organization is working with other entities in the city to make sure the upcoming election is as smooth as possible
