No more free SEPTA rides for Drexel faculty and staff

 The Temple and University of the Arts merger is off, after both sides failed to come to an agreement following three months of negotiations.
A couple accused of abusing a 12-year-old girl who died have waived their rights to a preliminary hearing.
The Pennsylvania House transportation committee has been hosting hearings across the state, explaining the challenges in funding PennDOT while also trying to drum up support for increased funding for roads, bridges, and mass transit.

The summer surge of COVID-19 infections continues across the country and the FDA recently approved updated vaccines. But according to the Annenberg Public Policy Center at the University of Pennsylvania, the number of Americans believing misinformation about the vaccine and the virus is on the rise. 
Temple University says serious crime on campus is down, and leaders point to smart policing and improved technology as strategies to continue that trend.

An annual vigil at Blackwood’s Timber Creek Park Wednesday night spread a message of hope to people fighting substance use disorder and remembered those lost to the disease.
Drug overdose continues to rank among the leading causes of death in Philadelphia, but a city official had a hopeful message to share with an audience of federal officials at the White House on Wednesday. When the data is finalized, Philadelphia is expecting to see a slight decrease in overdose deaths for the first time since the pandemic.
