• A 72-year-old South Philadelphia woman was injured and a dog died after a shooting Thursday evening in South Philly.

• Anti-gun violence advocate Gabby Giffords threw her support behind Vice President Kamala Harris’ run for the White House in Philadelphia on Thursday. The Harris campaign hosted the former congresswoman to appeal to voters on one of the biggest issues in the city: gun violence.

• Fifteen students joined a group of around 20 teachers and parents on Thursday at the Philadelphia School District’s first in a series of forums for students to share how they’ve felt marginalized amid the ongoing Israel-Hamas War.
• The Philadelphia Orchestra and Ensemble Arts welcomed dozens of Philly’s youngest and brightest talents to study singing, dance and acting at their very first High School Summer Arts Sessions.
