Matt, Ryan and Mario talk Christmas gifts, UK basketball, UK football and they take your phone calls.

Walk back.

I remember two Turkey Sports Radio five nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven, text Machine seven seven two seven seven four five two five four Uh, Matt Jones, Ryan Lemon and Mario who doesn't know any uh? Any announcers. A couple of people want to see if I fe you know these? Do you know who Jim Nance is? No, give me another one. I mean you just skipped over. Jim Nance might be the most famous one. What about al Michaels?

Who are these guys? Unbelievable? Unbelievable? Right? Are they older? Yeah? But they're on TV every week?

Huh But you know what during the course break he got he knows. I know some people talk like Steven A. Smith Shenon Sharp, the Talking Heads. Yeah, you know Albert play guy.

BRV Albert bart Roberts been dead for a decade.

I must have gotten Marv Albert must be a different guy.

Okay, well, no, his his kid is still on what's his kid's name, Kevin Albert or something?

His kid, Yeah, that's his kid.

Yeah, so all right, you know Tom Leech, of course I know Tom Leach.

Paul Hogan passed away. Crocodile Dundee, which might explain.

Why Max is not here today to be a sad day.

He might be sad, but rest in peace to Paul Hogan, apparently died this morning.

Did you see any of the Crocodile Dundee movies?

I think I saw a couple of them. I don't remember one minute of any of it, but I'm pretty sure I think I saw one.

Let's talk about the football playoff for a second. Kind of a dud. All the games kind of stunk. Some people are saying it means they shouldn't have it. I disagree with that. I still enjoy watching it. But the games were kind of all blowouts pretty much.

They were. I do enjoy these first round games on the home fields. I mean, I know there's disadvantage of the other team, but man, for that home team, that's kind of a cool environment.

What did you think about the Ohio State Tennessee turns out Tennessee and it up with about twenty twenty five percent of the crowd. They The early pictures made it look like it was all Tennessee fans, but then Ohio State fans came in and ended up being about twenty to twenty five percent.

But then Tennessee got absolutely destroyed.

Run off the field. Was it twenty one to nothing first quarter? I mean it was it was quick. Shame on Ohio State fans letting that happen. You know, you got a you're hosting a home playoff game, and you did let those tickets get away and put in the hands of a Tennessee fans. Shame on you, Mario.

They came into their trap, but they were not able to They didn't take over the trips. They didn't take over the trap. They came in there but then got destroyed. I doesn't say I've seen clips online. I didn't get to watch the actual game, but I saw a lot of Tennessee fans in there.

There were a lot of Tennessee fans.

I listened to the Tony Basilio Show while falling asleep Saturday night and to listen to Tennessee fan sadness and anger. They they still liked their coach, but they're very upset that they say that he never wins a big game.

Was it comical where people some people losing their minds at all?

Well, it was actually Basilio was being the mo calm. He was like, look, we had a good year, but the fans weren't having it. They were very, very very upset.

Nothing they can do. Man, that was a blowout, that was they just ran them off the field Saturday night.

Yeah, so you know, I still think the playoff, though, is worth continuing. Do you think Indiana and SMU do you think they proved they shouldn't be in or not?

Yeah, definitely, that's all that. They're gonna keep the format, but you think they'll tweak it who gets in next year? Do you think?

Well?

I think they might end up tweaking it to where they don't give byes to like Boise State in Arizona State. I think that's probably the thing that will change it. But here's I had said, Indiana didn't deserve to be in, SMU didn't deserve to be in. But the problem for people like me is, if you make that argument, then how do you explain Tennessee? Because I think everybody thought Tennessee should be in, and then they got beat just as bad, maybe even they got beat worse than Indiana. So if you don't think Indiana and SMU should be in, what do you say about Tennessee.

It's a great argument to have. So I think they'll definitely tweak it to a little bit. I think you're right, they'll not give Arizona State and BYU, I mean Boise State this first round byes at all. But that will make for some better first round matchups if they, you know.

Yeah, I think what it'll mean is the first round matchups may be better, but you're still gonna end up with the same second round discrepancies that I think.

You have here.

Let's talk about the portal for Kentucky. Kentucky is now, as according to twenty four to seven Sports, has the eighth rate portal class in America. That number will go down as Alabamas of the world once they'll get more players, but it's probably still gonna end up a top twenty to twenty five portal class.

I've gotten a lot of good dudes.

They got the center from Western as their offensive lineman, so they're basically have rebuilt, entirely rebuilt their offensive line. There are more guys Ryan that are so they've clearly gone in a different direction. They've gone away from I'm getting the backup at Ohio State, the backup at Georgia, the backup at LSU Alabama.

They've gotten away from that.

Now they're going and getting guys who have started on either not so great Power five teams like Minnesota, or started and been really good at the MAC level or at the Conference USA level. Completely different strategy than what they've done these other years. Do you think it works? Can you win in the SEC with these guys like that?

I am.

I don't have a good answer for that, because obviously didn't work bringing in the backups. So they brought in the dude from Northern Illinois as a tackle, you know, two years ago, so that you know, they kind of tried and tried that route tiptoe in.

But he was good until he got hurt.

I will say with Marquez Cox, I got to give the kid a little bit of leeway. He basically had no knees this year. I mean he he was good before that.

So, you know, like you said, they run of goth Minnesota. They got the edge rusher from USC.

Now that's a little different though. I mean that's a superstar. Yeah, he's probably the best guy they got.

I think so too.

I mean I think he will be. He is a he's got a chance to be really really good.

But your offensive line guys are you're right. I mean, you're you got the farmer kid back and everybody else may be all new position guys on that offensive line.

So are you do you have confidence in this group? I mean, or are you scalt? I mean, look, we the realities. We haven't seen any of these guys play, so it's.

Hard to know exactly.

You haven't seen him play, but you you you're optimistic about it. They're they're making moves, so I mean, I can't complain. I'm not gonna see her and be say that I'm over the top excited about it. But I'm I'm I'm I'm optimistic. I would say, what do you think?

I'm right?

Right after Christmas, probably Thursday or Friday, I'm gonna have on Nick Kazata, who has a chance to be or Calzada as a chance to be our next quarterback from incarnate word. I'm sure a lot of people have read about him since I mean, they are bringing him in to likely be the starter.

Is that gonna work?

I mean, obviously the guy has talent. He was at A and M he beat number one Alabama. The guy has talent, has to put up some good numbers an incarnate word, So you just gotta hope it translates. The last three quarterbacks Kentucky's had had to play hurt most of the year, Will Levis, Devin Leary, and then Brock Vandergat.

Which is why it's so important you keep Cutter Bowley too, by the way, right, because I mean we've had to play.

We have played.

I don't think people realize this.

We have started a backup in every game in our last eight years. Yes, you have to go back to Steven Johnson to find a quarterback that went through the whole season where we never had to start a backup in a game. So we never really talk about the backups, but they really do matter, Ryan, because we've had to start one for eight straight season.

Your quarterback's gonna get hit in the sec man, so yeah, they're gonna take a hit and miss some action. I didn't realize it went only back to Stephen Johnson, who's a guy that had to band aid together. But you're right. The last actually, these last three years, our starters have played tried to play hurt a lot of the time, and it just hasn't been effective.

Dayne Key Uh justin Rowland of Cats Illustrated hinted that Danne Key might consider a return to Kentucky that that was being talked about.

Before. But he collapse. We have a Dane Key authority sitting here. We do mat so before we before we before we.

Get too excited, I do think I have to ask, do you think there is any truth or possibility to the Dane Key might return.

That's a bad report. I mean, that's that's not on the table, and I think it's not so not on.

The table, No, not even being considered.

No, they've not even talked, so that's not a possibility.

So which is why I told you not to clap.

And I hate it for Dane. I mean Dane, like we said, you know, he gave his heart and soul for three years to this university and now it comes out again and he may return, and I feel like fans are kind of turning on him, like, well, that's just a bad report. That's not even been a possibility of him returning.

So you don't think there was even a conversation of return.

I know there's not even been a conversation.

Yeah, well that's that is unfortunate for Dane because you don't you know, you don't want to get people's hopes up yes, and then and then him not do it. Where do you if I made you put the money line down Ryan Lemon's hard earned spend thrift dollars on where Dane would go?

I heard a report.

You tell me if this is correct, either Georgia, Illinois or Nebraska.

Does that sound correct?

I think you nailed it because he made four visits. Ole miss was the fourth one. But I think it's gonna come down to those three, and I think we may even hear something by today today Wow wow, Yeah.

So again, where would you put your dollars? Or you don't want to say Kentucky Wesleyan all right, So you don't want to say all right? So let me just ask you as a fan, I would hear that. Okay, his wide receiver coach is at Nebraska, but I kind of thought maybe that wasn't the best relationship in the world.

Georgia. I get his girlfriend's there, why Illinois?

The receivers coach at Illinois was the receivers coach at South Carolina that recruited him of South Carolina, And I learned a lot watching that process. It's not necessarily the school, it's not necessarily the head coach. It's that coach recruiting you that you developed that relationship with, that you're close with. So he really likes this guy that was at South Carolina that is now at Illinois.

He's got to go to got to go to Georgia though, right, don't you Mario? I mean, I won't make him talk.

You get your girls at Georgia. They got a chance to win the national championship. Their weakness the last couple of years, they haven't really had an explosive receiver. It seems like he would fit in exactly with.

What they need.

Mario, don't you have to go to Georgia. Who wants to live in Nebraska anyway? In Illinois they stink? Why would you want to do that?

Yeah? I would go to Georgia as his lady's there as well, and then that's a storied program, Like why not you get a chance to play for the championship.

As a fan and as a fan and there's somebody who's known dang Key since he was in grade school. I want him to go to Georgia because I don't understand the Illinois or Nebraska. Illinois, Nebraska, They're gonna go seven and five next year, right, Like, why would you want to.

Go do that?

Brian did say that winning the championship is one of the more important Yeah, they win.

In a championship in Illinois or Nebraska.

I guess the attraction of Nebraska. So they've got a hot young quarterback. The facilities are.

Do you mean the mahomes look alike? Yeah?

Yeah?

But has he been in Nebraska? Does he know how much corn is out there? Does he know how it's just sad and makes you want.

To cry, very depressing? Does he know that?

Well, he just was just out there. He just got back Saturday night. Yeah, from Nebraska, Mario.

A lot of white people out there, That's all I'm gonna say. In Nebraska? Am I wrong? We were there? We were there there. You're the one that said it, not me. Don't act like I said it. Who's up next?

Slick is up next?

Click? Go ahead?

What's going on? Guys? Merry Christmas?

Do you merry Christmas? Do you guys? Yes?

Sir. One thing that just worries me about this Ohio State game is that I don't know what they compared to the SEC field. So going into conference play, I feel like we might we might struggle a little bit, and I hope that we don't become that team that can drop three four in a row because of SEC. Like you mentioned as the gauntlets. So I'm not sure where Ohio State compares to the field of SEC. I'd probably say I put him in the Andy your LSU field around there.

But you know, I thought, well, I mean, so they played Ohio State's played two SEC teams in basketball. They lost by already to Auburn, but they beat Texas to start the year. So when you say where would they compete in the SEC, probably they'd look at you and go, well, so farward two and one. So I mean they probably would think they'd be towards the middle to upper part of the SEC.

I agree. I agree. Well, the good thing about basketball is that you get another game GIA later to turn it around.

So do you think it's tough?

I appreciate the call. Do you think it's tough for them? The fact that they have to wait so long to play again. I mean, they don't play again until till New Year's Eve.

I think the way that it played out Saturday that is tough. You got to go this ten days without a game. They're probably chomping at the bit, wish they were playing today, you know, having a game today. So I think it's gonna be a tough week for that team after coming off that butt whooping they got.

I mean we lost Saturday the twenty first, and now you're looking at a week from tomorrow before they play again. The team they play, which is Brown. They played Kansas yesterday, lost by thirty the Kansas, but are predicted to I mean, they might win the IVY League, so they're not They're not a terrible team. They probably gonna favorites in the IVY League this year.

That's a good team to have after you get your butt kicked to bring them in here to rup and have a good win because going into conference play, because that first conference game and gets Florida at eleven o'clock, that ain't gonna be easy.

Uh, tell me about Stoctor mortgage doctor Mortgane.

You know, let's say you got you get up Christmas morning and you think that you open up your presence and there's a set of keys there and there one to get a new house. I'm trying. I'm making this up on who.

Gets who gets a house for Christmas?

Well, maybe you so you think somebody's just gonna buy a house, Yeah, and give it as a Christmas present, and there's just gonna be keys. No one has ever gotten a house under their tree for Christmas, if it's possible.

That who you?

Who's buying me a house?

Your mom?

Okay, thank you?

Pajamas? Oh you think you drop that?

Rick? Rick? Drop that? Did you get it?

I got what I got with you. I forgot that was on the d L. I forgot that was on the d L.

You forgot the Christmas gift was on the d L.

Yeah, yeah, I mean I'd rather have Max, he said.

At least he did.

At least he didn't. Max. Not showing up is more consistent than that. Just finish the ad.

U doctor mortgage doctor dot com mm gon last A two five nine Equalahey.

Lender, good job, Ryan, be right back. What is this? Rick? I know what this is. This was for Ryan, Daris Rutger, Christmas.

Candy cane, Christmas, my Darius Rutger.

Boy, we've really hit all the hits today. Thank you, Darius Rutger.

Christmas candy cane, Christmas and Christmas. That's awesome.

Apparently it got dropped. So the thing you said that you weren't supposed to say, got dropped. Good, So thankfully, just for the record, for those of you wonder what got dropped, why I would have reacted like that. He just completely said the Christmas present that that that that I was getting. But thankfully that didn't go over the air. So I don't think so inconsistent. If I'm nine two eight twenty two eighty seven, I need to apologize.

First of all, Marv Albert is not dead.

Apparently he's still alive, and Paul Hogan is still alive too, So I killed them both off accidentally. It was the crocodile burnt the crocodile that died, not Paul Hogan, So apologies to uh both of them.

The thing that blows my mind that crocodile was ninety years old. I know crocodiles lived that long.

Wow, long time?

Was the crocodile ninety ninety years old?

I didn't know they lived that long?

Live that long?

Yeah? Are you sure they was? The crocodile was ninety I.

Thought A couple of people were sending in.

That's pretty well.

I mean, I guess I have burnt the crocodile.

I just read this story today, something for people to think about while you're enjoying your Christmas. There's a story I read on Bloomberg that said, there's a major concern that in starting in February, February, March, April May, that we might not have eggs, that eggs like, we may just not have eggs for a few months, or if we do, they may be wildly expensive. And this time you can't blame it on Joe Biden. It's the it's bird flu. You know, they have this bird flu out in California and all these and it's making it to where the eggs you can't eat them. And they're saying that the that will affect the economy starting in about February, and that we might have three or four months where eggs double or could even triple in cost, and that it may just mean that for a few months they're not you can't even find them, so we might be short of eggs.

They think chicken will.

Still be okay because they don't think it will affect the chicken, but they it may very well affect the eggs.

Most people won't hear this story. We'll have any idea and just show up in February and see their eggs or tripled in price or something like that.

Do you worry about that? With eggs? Do you eat a lot of eggs?

I don't eat a lot, but I eat it once a week at Wobble House. I'll have scrambled eg the cheese.

There we go.

Okay, so I get I have eggs at least once a week.

So just maybe enjoy your eggs a little more. I don't know who has eggs for Christmas, but whatever, whenever you eat them, because they may be about to rock it up in price thanks to bird flu.

Yeah, eggs, I'm not crazy over but chicken. I definitely need the chicken.

I don't know.

Well, I'll tell you when we when there have been chicken issues. It affects this place a lot. I mean, I mean wings are a huge part. You know, during during COVID, remember there was that shortage of wings for a while, and the prices of wings went up. There was a period of time we were selling wings here and every wing we sold we lost money for a period of time. Now that's changed, but we didn't. You know, they just you your chicken wing place. You have to keep selling them. But they were they were costing so much, so.

How can it affect the egg and not affect the chicken.

I don't know which comes first, the chicken or the egg. But I'm not sure why. They just said they didn't expect it to affect the cost of chicken, but it would affect the eggs.

So I don't know. That's a good question. You're you're the scientist. Who's up next? Dan? Go ahead? Dan?

Hi guys uh once to the game Saturday. A little bit disappointed about it, but that's life that happened, and still enjoying my time.

I've learned my.

Older age to go enjoy the experience. I'm not going to have any effects on what happens in the actual game itself. So I graduated from the UK in nineteen ninety and I live in eastern Pennsylvania. How many UK fans like me have probably seen us lose more basketball games and win more basketball games between regular season games and tournament We've not really had much luck in the East Coast in a long time.

You mean when we played Okay, I didn't know what you're saying. You mean, when we've played on the East Coast. Do you think we've lost more than we've won.

In recent years. That's a good question.

I mean, let's go back.

Yeah, I mean we won in Philly last year. Yeah, yeah, but we've won We won a lot before that. I mean we won all. I mean, first of all, we won a national championship on the East Coast, right, we won in the in ninety six.

We won the title on the East Coast.

In recent years, we've won a U We've won a few times in Madison Square Garden, lost a couple of times. We won in Philly last year. We obviously lost in Pittsburgh last year in the tournament. Uh, I appreciate its called lost to Robert Morris in the up up on the East coast. Where else have we had games that you can remember up there? But we did win the title in ninety went to the final four in Newark. In twenty eleven, went and won that went to final four. We won that tournament at that little casino in Connecticut, remember the Brandon Night year. I think we won a tournament at that little in Uncasville, Connecticut.

The year that they played in Long Island. I think they won both of those games in the NCAA tournament.

Yeah, so I think we've won more than we've lost, but we've lost maybe a few more here in recent years.

We talk about the game in Brooklyn that Jamal Murray had thirty something in the second half. They lost that one.

Yeah, but didn't we We won a game in Brooklyn though, too. Didn't we at the Barclay Center we played somebody?

Is that Monk's year on a leak? Monk? No, I don't think so. Yeah, But in general, I do think we've won.

We've won more games on the East Coast than we've lost, you know, over the last thirty years. Say if I'm nine to two aight, oh twenty two eighty seven, text machine seven seven two seven four five two five four will take a.

Break me right back? It's Kis song.

Welcome Back Tecki Sports Radio. Turn this up a little bit, Rick. Do you know this song?

Don't know this song?

It's called fairy Tale of New York. It's by the uh Pogues. Do you know the Pogues are not It's like this group from like the eighties and Uh. It's a Christmas song. It's kind of a sad song if you listen to the words, but it's actually, I think, really pretty and a guy group, Hosier. They performed he performed at on on Saturday Night Live performed a version of it this weekend and it was I loved it, and it reminded me how much I liked that song. I'd forgotten about it. It was a big when I was in college. It's like a man and woman and they're in New York City during Chris Smiths and they're singing to each other, but they're also kind of mad at each other. And it's actually a really neat song. You ought to listen to it when you go home.

So it's a Christmas song but basically around.

But it's not like about Christmas, Like, it's not about it's it's a romantic song.

There, you got it.

It's a but it's it's about being in New York City on Christmas night.

Again.

It's called Fairytale in New York. Okay, will you try it? Well?

Absolutely?

The the it's the the old version or this verse. The poet no, the pogues p O g u E s Okay.

The guy, the male singer of the Pogues is And I say this with all due respect because he's passed away.

So rest in peace. Not an attractive man.

He's a perfect example of if you can sing, you can get by.

With a lot of stuff.

He again, rest in peace, great song, great legacy, but not an attractive man. And it should give everyone Ryan confidence that you can make it in the world.

Well, it sounds pretty just hearing it. I haven't listened to the word.

They have good harmony and all that.

So one person writes, Matt, I want to be clear because I think it's important for you to have expectations. The way that the what Ryan said got dropped made it seem like.

You were buying your mama house.

If you're not buying your mama house, you probably should say that I'm not buying my mama house. I don't like that. I actually think I got a really nice gift, but I don't want her to think I got a house, because then she'll be disappointed.

Thank you very much for that, Ryan, I appreciate it.

Well, that's good. The secret gift remains a secret.

Yes, that would be here.

You go and you get something really nice Mario, and then this dude makes him think it's a house.

What is on your head? It's a hat, it's a beanie. But what it looks like a cow.

It looks like, Oh, it's just like the design of it, Matt. It's a little, you know, a little stylish beanie kind of thing.

Is it stylish? It just a little bit. Who makes it? Who's the I don't know.

I just I just bought it, and them all, Okay, Well you think.

I could pull that off?

Uh?

Yeah, maybe not this type of beanie. But I could see you in another beanie. I've seen you in beanies before.

You Yeah, you were a beanie and veil.

We beat Providence in Brooklyn, and we beat Maryland in Brooklyn. That people may remember that Maryland game. That was the Jared Poulson game. Jared Poulson came off the bench and he scored like eighteen points. Probably the best game he had as a Kentucky player was in Brooklyn against Maryland. And the Providence game was the one where Larry set next to world Wide West the entire game, didn't know who he was, talked to him for two hours, talked about how interesting he was, and had no clue who he was talking to.

Maybe my favorite Larry story ever, He said, by Worldwide West the whole game and talking to no idea.

No idea, and then I loved at the end, I said, what did Because you know, nobody really knows what world Wide West does?

I said, what did world West? Wye West say he does?

And Larry goes it wasn't really clear, and I was like, you know what, it's never been really clear exactly what world Wide westy.

We all say the same thing. It's not really clear what he does.

Yes, one person, writes Matt. In the next ten years, the playoff will likely ex expand to sixteen in college football. Go on the record, do you three guys think in a sixteen team playoff Kentucky will ever make it sixteen teams?

Let's just assume next year it has to.

Be twelve, but then they're talking about expanding it the next year. If it went to sixteen and we had a decade, do you think we would ever make it?

I'm gonna say yes. I mean we saw Indiana make it. For crying out loud, Kentucky's football program is similar to Indiana. South Carolina was knocking on the door this year. I think Kentucky has up until recently had a better program in South Carolina. So I'm going to record and say yes.

If it went to sixteen.

Then I think they would probably most year take five from the SEC. Probably, like let's just say it went to sixteen this year, who would they have taken.

They would have added.

Alabama, Miami, probably Old Miss in South Carolina, right, That's probably who the other ones would be, So that would have actually been six SEC teams.

Mario, do you.

Ever think we come in the top five or six in the SEC to take it?

I see six five.

It would be tough because you gotta remember we do have Texas and Oklahoma and SEC now, so I definitely, you know, a bigger pool to pool from. So I but I could see six, I could see I could see six.

I think if it got to sixteen would require us to be nine and three. I think if you if he got to sixteen, you're in. If you're nine and three, you're in. I think we will go nine and three once.

In the next decade.

So I think that's I don't know if we'll make it at twelve, but I think it's sixteen twelve is tough.

We would make it.

Yeah, with that schedule next year they would make it, but they're going that schedule is gonna change a little bit, and then you know, you catch on a year where maybe it plays in your favor a little bit and you have a really good team.

Absolutely now that schedules really difficult. But let me just give you a hypothetical example. Let's go back five years. Okay, let's just go back five years, and let's say you played that same schedule you're playing next year five years ago. All right, Okay, so five years ago, Georgia would still be really good. But Texas is not nearly as good five years ago. Oh Miss is not nearly as good five years ago. Tennessee is not nearly as good. Five years ago. South Carolina is not nearly as good. Auburn's probably slightly better than they are now. But that would be a completely different schedule. Florida was bad five years ago. If you had that exact same schedule you had this year five years ago, that would have been a schedule Ryan. If you were good, you could take advantage.

You maybe could win nine games, maybe the sniffing at a playoff bit with that skin. Yeah.

So yeah, so the schedule some year, Mario will break for us.

I could see in a way that's good.

It didn't break for us this year, and we weren't good, but we'll get a year where I think that can happen, like it did for Indiana this year.

To your point, teams go through phases where they get better and sometimes they're worse, like you said five years ago, So some of these teams were not the same.

Tennessee was not the same five years ago. There they are now.

And the teams that aren't good that were disappointing this year, we avoided them, Like we didn't get to play kind of a disappointing Oklahoma team, we didn't get to play kind of a disappointing Missouri team. We didn't get to play a terrible Mississippi State team, we didn't get to play a disappointing Arkansas team. So we got kind of unlucky in the sense that a lot of the SEC teams that weren't as good as they thought they'd be, we didn't get any of them this year, and we were one of those teams. Honestly as well. Who's next? Jackson is up next, Jackson?

Go ahead, Jackson, Hey guys, I just want to know what you're going I saw to the CBS coverage of the basketball game was it sounded to me like that little sour taste in or mouth. They just love that contract.

Uh. I.

Well, to be fair, I couldn't hear it because I was here, so I I couldn't hear the announcers.

Uh it was loud enough in here, you couldn't hear him.

Did you hear the announcers have any sort of anti sec bias?

I didn't hear it. Of course. I listened to the first half in the car. Listen to Tom and Jack the whole first half driving Indiana.

Was it was it Rafferty? Is that who did the game? Was it Bill Raftrey? I do any of you know who called the game on Saturday?

Did anyone? Yes? No, nobody? Wow.

If it wasn't Bill Raftery, nobody paid attention to it.

Uh.

I think I think I heard Tim Brando doing it. No one here seems to know who called the game. Maybe it wasn't Bill Raftery.

I don't know.

I don't worry. I watched the second half and don't remember him being on the broad.

Yeah, I will say I much prefer CBS game coverage to ESPN's I just do for basketball. It's louder, Yes, it's it's they get the environment much better on CBS than they do at least on in RUP on the ESPN.

Do you agree, Yes, that's just you know, their audio production is just better. I don't know if it's the mic placement or whoever runs the audio boards, something's different.

It is it is always better. Who's next?

Got Kevin?

Up next? Kevin? How are you? Kevin?

And I'm doing well thanks to taking my call.

Guys.

In regards to Kentucky's football recruiting ranking right now, I'm gonna a little bit, well, I'm not a little bit. I'm very skeptical about Stoops being able to turn it around. I think it's more of a culture or a lack of culture issue. Go back to look when he started. It took him three or four or five years trying to build a culture he did. You look at the offensive line play, it has got worse over the last four years. You can, I believe you can, you know build, uh you know, build or design recruit a good offensive line. But look at what he had this last year. I'm just skeptical and I have zero faith in Wolford. I think how what happened with him Stups bringing him back was a mistake. But if you look at Wolford's calling card. His m is he might have some good offensive lines, but they're always bad in the past. Uh in the pest rush.

Well, I think you're gonna. I think you're gonna. I think those are very reasonable views. I mean, and I appreciate the call. I think those are very reasonable views. Mark stoops by the way the season ended, and I think in part because of his decision to be silent since the end of the year, which I think has been a mistake. There's a lot of fans that are going to be skeptical. I mean, Kentucky literally just got a transfer commitment a few minutes ago. Cameron Old is a linebacker from kent State, a guy they really wanted. But there's no way I can sell to people to be excited about it, you know. I mean, they're just not going to be excited about it. And I think that's that skepticism is going to remain ryan until they kick it off next year.

They made a living early in the transfer portal by finding these guys that ended up being stars once they've transferred.

Here.

Okay, you got to duplicate that. You gotta do it again this year, for sure.

But I mean they did, like they've gotten probably two thirds of the guys. I mean, I know who they were targeting. They've missed out on about a third of them. They've gotten about two thirds.

That's awesome, that's good.

But do you think people are excited about any of it? Is there one player they've gotten in the portal but people are excited about I think they've I think the negativity about this about Stoops has made it to where the players people are just not I don't think they think they're not good, but Mario, they're not excited about any of them.

They're not excited, Like you said, they're just gonna have to wait till a kickoff next season. Or maybe it might get better over the summer as time goes on. Maybe fans, But as far as what it looks like right now, yeah.

I mean, I'll be honest with you, I don't think this this fan base is gonna really believe anything until Kentucky plays Old Miss in week.

Two of the season. Do you blame him? I don't blame him.

No, I mean Stoops made his own bed on that he made his own bed.

They're four and eight.

He I don't think handled the pr aspect of it well, and now he just has to accept that and then try to.

Move forward after that.

Final segment here right before Christmas, Kentucky Sports Radio.

Oh this is good.

Yeah, well done, Rick. This is a nice way to finish here. The segment the Peanut Song. Did you see Saturday Night Live Lot did a live action of the Peanut Song.

They you gotta look that up.

It's really good. They all dance like they do in the thing. They have the one person like with this with the shoulders just going like this. They have the guy playing the piano and uh, Keenan Thompson was snoopy and it was, uh it was, It's really good.

You have to look it up.

Will all look that up?

Cut, I'm sick over one thing. Ryan.

Nobody likes to hear little little secret for people out there there. There are a couple things nobody he wants to hear about. And one of the things nobody wants to hear about is how close you came to winning a bet or not. Like no one likes that, but I'm still gonna do it because I made myself sick yesterday. I always make a bet on all of the early games just for fun, and yesterday I was I want I hit them all against the spread, and I had a parlay that was like plus forty five hundred, and I cashed out because I thought the Commanders were gonna lose.

So I cashed out at like Ford to.

One, which is still great, but it was gonna be like forty Ford to one, and I cashed out, and then they came back and won, and I was sick. I like literally I was sick. It was a lot it could have could have bought you a present, and so you didn't get one because of it, but that that one was tough.

So Jade and Daniels he killed me on.

The Hail Mary earlier this year, so I just I think I'm gonna have a grudge against him for the rest of the year.

Dude just cemented Rookie of the Year award though.

This year, probably so yeah, yeah, for sure probably so uh when person writes, Matt, what are you guys going to each do on Christmas Eve?

So my mom will cook, I will eat, and then we.

Will watch the Nate Bargatzi Christmas Special because it's like the one thing we can all agree on to watch. And then we have like a midnight church service. Do you go to a midnight church service?

Our church this year at citter Point is doing it early at three o'clock and four thirty so people can come and then go sping Christmas Eve with their family.

But doesn't that miss the point? The whole point is to be there as the thing happens. Perumpa pump pum, like it's it's at midnight.

Well that now we can go have you with our church family, so.

It's more convenient to you rather than celebrate the birth of Jesus.

I'm still just make sure you get to be in bed by midnight.

We'll still celebrate who birth of Jesus. Three o'clock, Jill.

Bat Larry's eighty seven years old.

He will walk out of that house when it's six degrees and go to First Christian Church and you will be a man.

Oh no, that man.

You up with my family Christmas Eve night church family. Oh yeah, we played games, you know, you know exactly.

The way Jesus and God wanted you to to spend Christmas Eve.

Who's up next? Got Ron? Up next? Ron? Go ahead? Ron?

Yes, I was just calling about the PJS.

Okay, Ron, we can't talk about that, Okay.

Okay, okay, alright. Thank you. Ron. Appreciate it.

What you started, what I started. You are the one that said it, not me, You started it. Thank you, Ron. Though I know you were trying to be helpful. I appreciate. It's just that they're probably listening, and I don't want them to know what I'm what I'm getting.

Who's up next, Thomas, Thomas? Go ahead, Thomas.

Yeah.

With all the inconsistency, the most consistent guy that this fall, I believe has been dang Key himself. You know, he was a really go to guy. He was relied heavily on and I don't get the people slamming him. Good for that kid going and making his situation better. I truly believe he's, you know, NFL talent. I hope so, I hope he goes to Georgia. I hope he kills it and improve his draft stocks.

So get people kill I totally agree with you on that, and I appreciate the call. Let's go back to last year, Dame Key, Barryon Brown, and Dion Walker. All three had chances to go to top programs. They chose to come back. Now you can talk about what happened with Dion and Barryon and whether they reached their potential, and it's a fair argument, but all three had a chance to go play for teams that could win a national championship. They came back. You know what, things didn't work out. Dion's now probably going the draft. Barryon gets a chance at LSU Dame, we'll see what he does, but he has a chance at Orgia. If we're gonna be consistent and if we're gonna be honest as fans, if we're gonna celebrate that, Jackson Robinson and Lamont Butler and you know, otega Oway and these guys got to go from places to a place to compete for a title and fulfill their dreams in basketball, and we're gonna celebrate that, then we have to do the same thing that dayne Key and barry On Brown may go do that at a school that has a chance to win a national title. I don't care how optimistic you are about next year. We ain't winning a national title in football next year. So I I don't even know barry On Brown.

I know Dame through you.

If we're gonna celebrate our basketball guys doing it, Ryan, we have to celebrate. We have to salute our football guys who gave us three years and then decide.

To thank you for saying that. You said it exactly what I feel. You know, Dane feels very blessed to have played here for three years and he's hometown school. Now, he's got some great opportunities. He's excited about him now.

If he goes Illinois, that's a whole different thing. Now.
