This is Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage.
Now here's Matt Jones.
Welcome everyone. It is Kentucky Sports Radio. Wednesday, November the twenty seventh. I'm Matt Jones here kind of Don Franklin in Glasgow.
Uh in Lexi to Kentucky.
You can give a shout on the Clark's Puppet Shop full line eight five nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven. A Vision Auto Glass text machine is seven seven two seven four five two five four in this distion sponsored by the T. J.
Smith obviously called TJ. He'll make them pay.
We are in Lexington, but we are doing the Don Franklin Glasgow Remote.
No matter your.
Situation, Don Franklin has the tools and experience ready for you.
It's Don Franklin driven by family.
We were supposed to be in Glasgow today, that's gotten put off now till a day in December. But we're still sort of with Don Franklin in Glasgow metaphorically in our hearts. But we rescheduled a little bit because the holiday, but still want to promote our good friends there. And you know, Ryan, it's like it's it's like we're in Glasgow. The only difference is no Gabe laying down the law, but otherwise it's the same.
We always see Brendon Stockton down at the Glasgow Don Franklin.
It works there, Yeah, it doesn't. I forgot about that.
And Susanne is there any Thanksgiving to Susanne in Glasgow? Drew, good to see you. We're in the Lexington Studio, which is a very weird. We're not here very often. And what's interesting, Drew is I can see I don't think I've ever seen this before. There's a camera in here where I can see Shannon in Louisville and he can see me and It's like it's almost like I'm a.
Peeping tom in Shannon's studio right now.
Yeah, what are you doing? We turn this thing off?
I know it's like cover on Shan weird. It's like, Shannon, put your shirt on. This is a professional building.
Now, you know how I normally show up for work. You can't see me every day.
So so Drew, it's exciting all all of us here insight. You're very excited.
When you sat down and Shannon's face is on the screen, I only see the back of the screen. So Shannon, Hello, I can't see you. I hope you're looking good over there. But Matt was thrilled that that you're in the room with this.
I just never get to see Shannon.
Even when you guys are in the same Louisville studio, I can't.
See him, and like, who this is technology? First of all, Billy's been holding from me this entire time. I could have I've never known this existed until right now. Actually, I'm going to take a picture and so I can tweet out what it's like for me to see.
Look at that it's.
Looking at We do the pre show like this every morning.
So the pre show has more technology than the regular show.
If you showed up in the studio, you could use it.
That's true.
I got a question. There's still like three other cameras in here.
These not you.
You don't get his pointing right at me, so you're looking at me.
Nobody's nobody's looking at you. Leave him off eight five twenty two eighty seven. I'll get to see the names here, which means I can call on who I want, which means not Bob and Jamestown, and we we can go from there. He was the next to last call last night, said that he was disappointed in the performance.
I'm surprised he didn't bring up the reds or just something off topic. But you know, not the best way to injure show were you?
Were you disappointed the performance? Becauseuck?
He wins by nineteen over Western The good and the Bad? All right, so good, you shoot not well eight for twenty nine from three, which is just a little over thirty percent.
You don't.
You don't play well offensively, and you still score eighty seven points. Good performances from Lamont Butler, Away and Andrew Carr increase. It gives you some good minutes.
The bad.
I thought they struggled to get their shot a lot of the game. Amari Williams, don't put that one in the highlight reel. Even though he did almost have a double double, he did have six turnovers, five of them in the first half, and it just wasn't quite you know, a ton of people at the game, Ryan, but not the greatest atmosphere. It just felt like the crowd never could exactly get into the game. But still a nineteen point win.
I wish they had called a few more fouls and oh.
My goodness, forty nine fouls called.
It was ugly. Was an ugly game to watch.
No rhythm. Every time I didn't go in, there be a foul.
But you know, Kentucky found a way to win when they weren't playing their best. So I think if Pope drew it up, he probably would what a game like this before he goes in the next week with Clemson and Gonzaga.
Well, he said, I mean, this is like a first round tournament game, And in some ways I think that's correct. I mean, you would get a first round tournament game where maybe the building's not Route rock Us and you don't play great, but this is just a grind.
It out first round win.
Yeah, and he mentioned the way they play defense is a lot like SEC teams. I mean a lot of pressure. They're fouling a lot. They're really messing up all the things in.
The UK does as well.
They're gonna play I said on the post game, the less talented teams in the SEC.
That's how they're gonna play.
Us, the Mississippi States, the Georgia's, the Texas A and M's or not. Texta ay, pretty good, but uh, South Carolina's like they're gonna play us like Western did.
Yeah, in some ways they used to do that when we had freshmen too, and the freshmen were weren't quite quite ready. This is a little different, but Pope seemed to think that'll help them in the long run. You know, it's frustrating at parts, but you know, I think even you and I thought they were gonna have a little bit of a come down moment. The heck, if I can pat myself on the back, I missed the score prediction by like two points, so I'm not that disappointed and kind of thought this might be coming. Just a few things like Amaro Williams.
That was disappointing.
That was a pretty now he was calling his own number a few too many times there, and he was just turning the ball over every time he touched it.
I just have to say, you know, we we've we I think we've said a couple of times in the in the shows prior, like what's what is what has not gone right? In the pope are and we're like, oh, there's nothing. I Amari Williams dribbling from the top of the key. I don't need that, Like I I get it that, like it's nice to have a center out there, who can lead, who can pass, and all that, but just no, no.
Once again, when he goes out, you put Car at the five, you kind of go small. That's a pretty efficient lineup.
It does hurt you, though, when you do that rebounding.
I mean, I think they can only like when when Western had their guy, I guess Baba Carr Faye in that that didn't The Car at the center didn't work because he got all the rebounds he did.
But Amari Williams drim under.
The basket is not my that's your number one option.
It's not top fifty. But when he's under the basket rebounding, et cetera. I'm actually I think he's he's very he's very effective defensively, but dribbling, I mean he dribbles like Stanley from the office he does. I mean he dribbles and he only goes left. I mean we have like Carr can only go right and Amari can only go left, and so there is a sense that I think that's that that hurts us a little bit.
He drew the big foul on Faye. They got him out when they were coming back a little bit. Because Faye was very good. The Reparena was very thrilled when he had to go to the bed. He was good, but Mari drew that drew.
That Fawley got him out.
That reminded me of when I I was sitting there thinking as I was watching Faye, his name is Boba Carr, and I was trying to think I've heard that name, and then I remembered that at one point I think Georgetown had on the same team a guy named Bubakar Owl. Do you remember that? Oh, his name was Boubacar Owl God Sham God. And my personal favorite name maybe in college basketball history ya ya Ja, which was ja ja ja, but it was pronounced yah ya but then the last one was, ja, do you not do you remember those players?
God? Sham god? I remember good?
Yeah, but you don't remember bubakar Ou or yah yaja.
I don't remember those guys. Funny, they're all on the same team.
I think they were all on the same job, Georgetown team. That's what I what I remembered. Yes, say anything else stuck out to you from an otherwise, Uh, obviously we get to hang a banner BB an Invitational champs hanging.
Someone asked Jack Pilgrim. I don't know if they're from UK or what, but they were like, why are you all have this like effort to make bb an Invitational things? And I'm like, why are you celebrating it? It's on the schedule. You all created it. We didn't create it.
We're just happy to win it.
And everybody was trying to steal Drew's joke, Shannon saying it should be the bb invitation. Drew was the first one to come up with that. Last night on social media, everybody was acting like they came up with it, Shannon, that was Drew's If Drew credit BB Invitational was in I.
Like that, Now, do we at least get a trophy, like maybe like a little hay Bell tossing trophy that Billy had.
I liked the Drews.
I liked again Drew's suggestion we hang it next to the Judds banner up there in the corner.
I stayed all night waiting for it to go up there. Uh.
Jack to asked kerr Crusae about cutting down the nuts, and Gary said, they're gonna wait for the big win in March or April.
But it's great to win this one. But you don't want to lose the bb invitation, you know. I hope they keep changing the names. It's had a lot of names over the years. But uh, a nice victory. It was a great night at college basketball. But it was also nice Ryan to sort of not have to worry about it. For Marion, we kind of took care of business and and and I never felt like there was a moment we were gonna lose again.
Yeah, even when Western cut up to six, I think they had it. They had six point and had the ball one time. I was never worried they were going to lose that game. I mean, like I said, good teams find a way to win when you're not playing your best, and they found a way to win.
Who did see though.
My one minor concern, which is even take those moments where it was six, they're still not a give this guy the ball and he'll get a basket. Yeah, they just don't have that. They have to work for everything. Even down six, which would be the moment you go, Okay, give X person the ball and let's go get it. They don't really have that guy. But they also can then make back to back threes with kerk krisa and get your.
Lead from eight to fifteen or whatever. I thought.
Uh oay and Butler had a pretty good few tough finishes and they got foul out went to the line. Now, Butler could have shot a little better at the line, but those two, at least when the offense just crawled to nothing and they were standing around more than we've ever seen, those two attacked and Car also, I'll ad him in that's why they're were leading scorers. But we saw them try to create as best they could, and they were good at drawing fouls.
Just need to hit the free throw.
The Car's two best games have been arguably the two hardest. Yes, Duke and Western on the counter to that Jackson Robinson's two worst games have been arguably the two hard So I hope that's not I hope, at least on the Robinson side, Ryan, that's not something that continues as the season goes on, because he has played his two worst games against the two best better teams we've played.
About Carr, I did hear Jack Givens say during the broadcast that, you know, the other opponents, he's been more concerned about trying to get the off, get other people involved, But these two better games, when he got put to five, he's become more offensive minded, looking to take a shot.
You know, it's clear that the way to play Kentucky this team is to try to be physical with him. Yeah, I think, and I think you're gonna see more and more teams doing that against this I mean, Duke did it some, but then Western did a lot, and I think Drew that's gonna be the if you're kind of creating the map of how to play him, that's how you're gonna play.
Yeah, And that's why when Pope says this was a good test, if there are any more of those, will take them because the sec these guys are only gonna get bigger and stronger playing that same style, and a guy like Robinson who hadn't handled it well so far. I hope that's not just how it's gonna be, because he did seem to shy away from the contact a little bit last night.
On a completely different note, Channon, I don't have a pass to this.
Building, So how do you get in?
You wait?
Well, first I can tell you what my view when I got to the building today.
Well, I have I had a pass and I quickly lost it and they just won't give me another one.
Tear one day.
Well, they won't give me another one to this building. They're just like no. So you know that's hard because I do need to get into this building. So normally I have to sit in the parking garage and wait for someone to come get me. Well, today I got there before everybody else. So I just sat on the ground in P one in the building. Andrew, you said I'll come get you. And what did you see when you opened the elevation?
I went to P two. I like to go down the floor night.
I like to like to like to get down underground a little bit.
So I was like, y'all just come up to P.
One.
I'll grab you, then we'll go up to our floor. Doors swing open on P one. I just thought he might be standing there. I thought I might even need to go find him. No, he was sitting on the ground for the big I think the Donald's Dike coke just kind of childlikes sitting there waiting for somebody.
Waiting for somebody to get me. Now, the problem was before Drew Shannon, a random group of three people walking to work saw me, and one of them goes Matt Jones, which, if you think about, that's gotta be a weird sight for that guy.
Tough time.
Yeah, you're in the parking garage at work and you see the guy you listen to sitting on the ground outside drinking a Dike coke. Times tough, Matt, Like, is it? Is it hard? So I gotta get a pass into this building? Can we make that happen?
I think there's probably people here that can make that happen for you.
I feel like, I don't know, Shannon. I feel like Bobby Bones can get into his building.
But probably doesn't lose his pass.
You know what if he did, I bet they'd give him another pass.
Yeah, I mean, is there anybody in that building other than you guys and Billy.
No.
I mean there's like law firms and account No.
No, I mean like in the iHeart part of the building as well.
I see people.
I don't know the most of them, but I see them out there, and I feel like, but.
You should go and produce yourself.
You you pay every time too, because yes, I have to pay. I pay parking every the park is supposed to be free. I'm gonna pay ten dollars. I have to pay ten dollars, like every day.
We can get you validated.
I don't get validated there. I don't know how that works. I don't even know who you would.
Go to to get validated.
But anyway, if I'm nine two twenty two eighty seven, we are here at Don Franklin in Glasgow. No matter your situation, it's Don Franklin. There are a lot of Black Friday deals. Come check them out. See our dealers down the street. So nice, Wow, how you doing? Just buff it up, We'll be right back. It's Kentucky Sports Radio. Oh Green Jelly, right, yeah, this Green Jelly.
You know this, I know listen if it was popular in the nineties. I know Green Jelly.
How did you know this?
I knew it.
I know the nineties, Like when they do the shows on TV that's like I love the nineties and they bring out and you're like, who are these random people?
I should be on it. I remember every.
Pop culture moment from the nineties. I know the music, the movies. Give me the nineties.
I got it.
This is a deep cut.
This isn't deep.
It is a really deep cut.
Now, remembering the name Green Jelly, that's a little surprising that I was able to get that one correction, God shame Gud was on Providence. Georgetown also had Ruben Boomshee. Boomshee.
What a great name, what lot of fun names.
Georgetown was good about having the great names. Don Franklin here, it's our Wednesday before our Wednesday before Thanksgiving show UK and Western UK gets the victory. Mark Pope was before I think you wrote Drew after the game, he was throwing T shirts into the curw was.
He walked out with a big basket, someone from.
UK carrying even more behind him, and he was just he was a human T shirt cannon, which just added to people being excited for those radio shows. I know, Cal Drew great routes too, but it's just carried on. There are a lot of people staying, a lot of kids last night with school being out, a lot of kids to be a younger crowd. But yeah, they just keep adding to that. I walked outside, there were two kids smoking in my yard.
Did you say get off my lawn?
Well?
I didn't because I didn't want to be that guy. But I also felt like I didn't think they were eighteen, so I didn't feel like they a should be smoking. But I also Janna didn't want to be the guy who's like, you know that can harm your lungs.
Yeah, so I just can't go up and check their ID.
No, I wasn't.
I didn't know what, but it was they had UK gear on, they'd clearly been at the gate. Yeah, they probably were fifteen or sixteen years old, and they were like smoking in my lawn. And there was a part of me that was like, am I that guy now who not only is like get off my lawn, but also why are you smoking?
You young and shouldn't be out there smoking.
It was after the postgame show too, though, so because they were that, I would argue that we're also loitering smoking loitering.
And you know, press charges.
I had a lot of charges on them, but I let it go. I just walked back inside and did the thing.
Maybe they've done it many many times because they knew nobody was ever going to catch them.
Well, you're on notice.
Your picture is going to be taken.
Jay, go ahead, Jay.
Matt first time, short time. I recently, thank you. I recently married into a Wildcat's family, So for the past three seasons I've been all in on the.
Big Blue Nation.
My wonderful wife, Marion, was born and raised in Richmond. We listened to your show all the time, and tomorrow is Marian's birthday. I was hoping you and the KSR crew could wish her a happy birthday. I know it mean a lot.
Well, happy birthday, Marion. I hope you have great turkey stuffing and whatever this man get you for the birthday.
It better be good.
Thank you so much.
You're welcome, Big Blue, Go, Big Blue. There you go. I mean, you gotta get a good birthday. Pray.
I was interesting watching last night. It feels like Kentucky has eight dudes, maybe seven dudes that they really count on, because if you look at it, the minutes for Colin, Chandler, Ansley, Almanor, and even Garrison were lower last night. It feels like they feel really good about seven Garrison, maybe eight, All Minor nine and then I think there's a drop off to Chandler at ten.
Do you agree with that?
And the minutes were skewed more than I think they have been could be. Also, Western was a little smaller. Your boy Almanor didn't check in until much later in the game he normally has idn't only played seven minutes as fast as Western played. I wonder the way he's built if he's not able to keep up. But yeah, it was interesting seeing some of the guys we've seen a lot of, like Garrison and Oman or even Kerb only played about eleven minutes.
And it was also in the plus minus interesting like if you were to say to people, okay, who are your five best players?
You probably would say, in some order, Robinson, Butler, Oway, Car and Brea.
And if you look at the plus minus, let me read you the plus Minusway plus twenty two, Butler plus twenty one, Robinson plus nineteen, Car plus twenty one, Braya plus fourteen. Then you go all the way down Amari Williams plus seven and the other guys all had negative It's almost like yesterday was like you see the tiers of the players almost based on that.
Yeah, like we said, when they were even weren't playing their best. Pope, I like he kept the guys out there to try to work through some of this. Like I said, I think he probably was happy they had a game. He had to struggle a little bit going in the next week.
I mean, Oway and Robinson both played thirty three minutes. I think they're gonna probably be the guys most of the year that played.
I agree with that.
I think Oway and Robinson are like the rocks to them, and they're gonna be the dudes that are in there the vast majority of the time.
Corey, what's up? Corey? Hey, Matt, first time, long time? Who are what's up?
Uh Ie?
I tweeted you back in the summer.
I had to pin him with Dan Essel and Louis dan Pier and eight off reps signature on it.
Okay, and I.
Actually thought you were going to be at the bar today to stop by there, but I dropped the pennant off there.
You said you were going to get it hung and hanging in the place.
Yeah, and that's what I would love to do that. I'm sorry we're not there, but I will. We will definitely get that. That's Ryan Lemon's job. He does the bar hangings, so we will make sure that he takes care of it. We'll put it up.
That's a very nice gift for you from you.
Yeah. And like I said, I left it with the bar manager there this morning.
She had it, so go big blue.
All right, go big blue. That was It's very nice.
I would say, what do you think Ryan, seventy five percent of the stuff at the bar is fan donated.
Oh absolutely, yeah. And one day when the.
Restaurant closes, it's gonna be such a great thing for Ryan to get there all the people their stuff back.
I remember we had a list.
What you have a list?
Maria and I had a list enjoying her Women's list.
Maria logged it and there's no there's no log.
We don't have a computer system like you are in You were in charge. It's your big part of the bar is making sure that that that we you to keep track of the stuff. So don't put don't pass this. Maria is not even here. Maria works for on three.
Well at the time she was with us, and I gotta say I've not seen that list since twenty eighteen.
Twenty eighteen.
That opened in twenty eighteen, So what did you do in the six years in between?
I gave the list to Maria.
We're not.
This is not Maria, and it's not Maria Toustin. It's not Maria Montgomery, it's not my Maria. It's no Maria. You are the one that has the list.
I do not have that list, and I have no idea where the list is.
So those of you that donated your stuff, if we ever close the place down Ryan Lemon in Masterson Station, look for the howling dogs in the smoldering fireplace through and that will be where your stuff marketing.
It's not our stuff.
We'll go an honor system when they pick it up. Well, I can't believe you're pulling Maria poor.
It's Thanksgiving, Maria's sitting at home doing nothing, and you're pouring her into this.
I apologize Maria.
Seven. We'll be right back chaos. Don't you know attorney called TJ. He'll make them pay now.
More of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton mortgage.
Here's Matt Jones, great song Shaon Yeah, Brooks and Done, Brooks and Done.
How many hits Brooks and Done had?
No?
Twenty probably twenty five.
I'm serious, Like, I can't think of a group with just more quantity of big songs since nineteen nine. I mean, what's probably them and Garth. Yeah, with the most quantity of hits.
They almost have as many hits as Bob and Jamestown has calls like it's close, It's not quite there, but it's close.
It's getting there. Eighty seven.
If you're at Don Franklin the twenty twenty four Chevy Silverado fifteen hundred high Country up to twenty thousand dollars off Select twenty twenty four Chevy Silverado models at Don Franklin in Glasgow, twenty seven dealerships around the state. I'm nine two eight twenty two eighty seven. What about Dandy Hurley Drew? What's wrong with that dude? Psychopath?
Something he need to be committed.
Some something's a little off up there. And I mentioned this on pregame show, but after he had the game two nights ago, it's like ESPN said, zoom in on his face. Every chance you get in this game. But I fucked like most showing him after.
He had that freak out though two nights ago.
Wouldn't you think he would have tried to be on better behavior the next night.
Can't help himself. I don't think he can, which I think is actually kind of scary.
I mean that video, as much as he freaked out and got that awful technical in the first game, I actually think the second video yesterday during the loss to Colorado is almost more troubling because he seemed like a person out of conversion.
Yeah. I mean, if that.
Dude whoever his assistant was, hadn't been there, huh.
And then he went off on the assistant.
If you read his lips, he's like, you better not tell me blankety blankety blank.
You know.
I'm not trying to play pops up coologist, but due was out of control Ryan, and he's in Maui.
He's in Maui. Come on, you're in Maui.
The first the first night when he lost the stuff, You'd think at that point somebody needed his wife. They even have to be a staff member. Somebody say, hey man, it's just November.
You've won back to back time and you're in Maui like it's November.
It's it's okay, there's a lot of basketball left this season. But then the very next night he loses his stuff again.
I mean, they're playing for seventh place today against Dayton. Again, playing for seventh place against and against Dayton, loses to Memphis and Colorado.
I mean, they were.
Expecting to play probably play like Michigan State and then Iowa State or Auburn.
They're gonna be playing.
Their three games are gonna be Memphis, Colorado, and Dayton, and they're gonna be at best one in two. Like that's that's a pretty awful performance.
By the back to back defending team.
It's a sample small sample size so far, but it's looking like they might be taking a little step down. Even the Mahine guy. They got the portal that you know, they were looking at Breda and Mahony at the same time. Looks like Kentucky might have won out on that deal. He doesn't look he hasn't looked good at all. But uh, I was thinking when he was losing on everyone, like I imagine him if he had been Kentucky's coach, because it's admit, everybody wanted him when Mitch flew up there. Sure if he were like dinner and some Kentucky fan bothered him when he likes snap on fans, if he inconvenience, it.
Wouldn't have gone well here right like like that, like that. He couldn't have done that, could.
Not have done that. Here, the sit in that chair. You got to understand what it means to deal with the fans, the alumni. I mean, it's because it means so much to all of us.
You can't did you imagine him and Mitch?
No, And it's just such a pressure cooker here if he can't handle Maui with, you know, just to have something, I'd like to say, how about.
It just us, just us boys here be Bahamas, Matt.
Have a really good story about this exact thing.
But I don't wangiving come on to say you've changed the names to protect the innocent.
There's no way to. Let's just say that he and Mitch would not have gotten one. And I think it's the best way for me to I think Mitch knew that. And I think even though they wanted him and they went after him, I think there was a sense of we would have liked to have had him, but also maybe a little bit of a sigh of relief when he.
Said no, uh huh, I get that, Like I just dealt with.
This for a long time. Yeah, I can't imagine having to switch to that.
Which would have been I think maybe a lot of the same in that.
I think it would have been I would see okay again.
Difference between cal early years end of years, I think end of year's Cow and Hurley, you would have had the same arrogance and the same I think they they're both very arrogant. I think Hurley is more belligerate. Cow wasn't belligerate like that, but also Cow was much more like indifferent Slash wouldn't like I think you could still get Hurley to meet with boosters and stuff. Does that make sense? So it's two different difficult traits. Hurley belligerent, Cow wasn't belligerent, but Cow was also like, I'm not doing anything, so deal with it.
And now they have Pope whistling you are my Sunshine down the hallway and he.
Literally is like baking cookies for people, throwing T shirts out to everybody else. I mean, can you imagine, like just think about the difference, just in working day to day personality.
Between those two guys, it's it's it's kind of unbelievable.
The other my other question about Mali, why did they make everyone wear those shirts?
Do they make them or just people feeling it's voluntary? But do people know why? Like do they want everyone that comes to wear those shirts?
Like several So I can't hate, but if we had the Kentucky invitation, I mean, we did have the invitation, but let's say we had a Kentucky invitational the eight teams Kate came to during Thanksgiving weekend. It was a celebration of Kentucky. Would we want all the coaches to show up in overalls?
No, no checkerboards.
Maybe we would not want them to come over here and go yeehaw.
We would just want them right.
There has to be a part of people in why that are, Like can you like we don't wear these shirts every day? Like the people in Mali just live there, They don't walk around in those shirts.
Right. I don't know, maybe I've never been. I hope we have the opportunity one year. I just don't.
I just I don't think Kentuckians would want if it was the Kentucky invitation before everybody show up in a cowboy hat and overalls and go like, yeah, home, it's Biden and playing the band Joe. Like, there comes a point. I don't know that people in Mali do they like that.
It has been something they've done going back to the eighties where the coaches wear these.
Understand but crazy you're there like that.
I don't know. I've been, Yes, you've been.
And everyone that goes where's it?
Did you wear one of the shirts?
Maybe?
But if you go out on the street, the average person walking down the streets not walking around in a shirt.
But if you're a tourist or a guest of the island, I know.
But I just I don't know.
I think we're trying to be so native that we become uni like there were people.
Why we're in the same clothes we do.
Yeah, like New Yorkers aren't walking around with that I Love New York shirt.
No, exactly, that's exactly right.
I think I just think we go I think we go too far when we're trying to do the whole Hawaii thing.
Jake, go ahead, Jake, guys have driving from Chicago to Whitley County now to pick up my grandma for Thanksgiving.
No, that's nice.
Yeah, I just want to I just want to make a couple quick points. First thing is I met up with you guys in Chicago around this time last year. We hung out at.
The uh Uh Sports Book the King.
That the place was packed and it was awesome. Everyone should go there.
Wouldn't back that night.
It was really just us. So that's good going out.
Yeah, we we we did go out, Drew, But I'm not talking about that right now. I I was thinking about the years since then, because you guys about to hit on your next road trip, and how much has happened and and and especially in the Kentucky ether and and I know that you guys have been through a lot. I just want to say, with Thanksgiving tomorrow, looking back at all the things, I'm so thankful for you guys and always being, you know, some part of my every day. And I can tell it's been a tough year for everybody. H And I remember eight years ago listening to the first time, and the first time I listened was when Trump got elect the first time, and and that's just been so lost.
That said years later, right back in the same spot, that's right.
Well, I well, I appreciate the call it I do you know, we did do this trip last year. We went up that way, uh, and we're in Chicago and it was a different time that time. I mean it was a different I remember specifically on that trip we uh we.
Lost to un CE Wilmington to start that trip.
If you're here, we we had just left and we got to Indiana and we lost to unc Wilmington. And then I don't know, did we lose again on that trip to someone.
We won the game and we went to the game against Penn, but we lost to un SEE Wilmington.
And and the sort of that was the moment that you kind of were like, I don't know if this year is gonna be any better, and uh, it is amazing, Drew, how far it's come since then.
I mean, just the universal positivity. There's a part of me.
There was a guy that called last night on the postgame show who talked about how the last few years had become tedious and this year is a year filled with joy and I really liked that that that description.
Yeah, I don't think anyone, even the most optimistic person, could have seen the turnaround we've had in such a short amount of time.
I think it's ridiculous.
Last night people were so mad online that Kentucky was up by eight in the first half, and I'm thinking we used to be tied half and half, and now we're complaining that Western is playing us within twelve at halftime or whatever it was.
Score like, when you can score and you don't slow it down, we cannot play well and still score eighty seven points.
You know what you said about that. The guy that called in last night, I think he dried a lot of fans last couple of years have become we kind of guarded our heart because we were afraid we were gonna get hurt again. That's gone now now the joy is back. You know, we're not afraid we're gonna play bad and betraying at halftime to somebody, we should be blowing out.
Joy to the world. I'm trying to remember the next line, Joy to the world. The Lord has come.
Receive Hurricane. Let every hard, prepare room lan Heaven in nature scene.

We all miss it. We all wish. By the way, ESPN now has that rule too. Shit, really no music in the podcast. Yeah, these music companies have all come and put their iron fists down, and so hopefully it gets changed one day. But it's not our fault.
I have an update for you on something what Maria has an Excel document with around forty to fifty names on it.
Yeah, see, that's good. What about the one since then? Have you been keeping track of it since then?
We'll work on that effering.
So at least keep track of this guy's pinvot. Will you do that?
Yes?
Okay?
If I were Maria, I wouldn't have told you that after the way you talked about her.
I would have kept that information lightly threw her under the bus. All right, I have something that two things I want you to see. First of all, you know I like ryan European socke Oh, yes you do. I like a little European hockey, the Champions League. Yes, play again today. I enjoy it.
You know.
I have random hoodies of Champions of European teams I have at Atlanta right now. The Italian team huh right here? This was actually interesting enough, the team that was playing when the COVID vechs the COVID.
Virus first spread.
You remember that, oh really first spread of a European soccer game, that this was one of the teams playing. Okay, So two things. One, there's a team that's on a huge upset run in the Champions League. It's called breast b R E s T. It's a French team. Thank you, Shannon is reading where I'm going with this. They a French team, not one of the better French teams, had a surprise year last year, got in the Champions League and are having a surprise run this year. There's a clip of about four minutes long. I'm not going to play it, but these announcers for CBS Sports that does the Champions League, they're kind of funny. One of them is you remember Thierry Henri, they played for France, and there's these other guys. I don't know who they are, but they start talking about the team breast and Shannon.
I'm just going to tell you need to find the cliff.
They intentionally do all these double entendres and I have to give them credit. They probably should win an Emmy for it. It's about four minutes yesterday. Look for it online. It's gone viral. You'll see it. As I was watching it, I was like, I cannot believe these guys are getting away with this. It was three dudes and a woman. The woman. The woman was the one leading it on. Oh she was like she was she was the funniest person involved.
You gotta give her credit.
If it was just two dudes up there.
If it was all dudes, you couldn't do it. You couldn't do it. But she made it to.
Where you could do it. But that's not what I want to talk about. There's a team called Fionid. I have a hoodie of Fionid. I wore it for fade this one. Remember I bet on them during a fade this episode.
Fionorid is this team. I believe they're in Holland.
They're down three nothing to man City, fifteen minutes to go at Man City seems like it's over over right, Man City one of the best teams.
In the world. Fionorid, this little team that Matt has a hoodie from. But they stink. But then they score to make it three one. Okay, now there's eight minutes to go. Then they do this wild kick. It goes off a guy's chest. It's three to two. Oh.
The announcer shinnon. They're so poetic in European soccer. They're like an exceptional moment in the history of mankind? Can little Fianoid shuck.
The giants from Man City?
And I'm like, yeah, I'm watching, what's gonna happen? What is Fionorid gonna do and then Fionid with the minute left.
Ties it up.
Oh my, a handful of Fionord fans go crazy. All right, people are going nuts. It's a wild scene. If you have Paramount Plus you can go watch it.
At the end.
It's it was really it was poetry. It's what I love about sports. Little Fionid, Big Man City. But that's not why I brought this up. Man City has a coach named Pep.
Do you know?
Pep is no idea. He's just a coach named Pep. Bald guy named Pep, very handsome. All these European coaches dressed like male models, drew you know what I mean, Like like, you can't be a manager in Europe unless you are a middle aged dilf as the caids the kids would say. Right, Pep shaved head, bald. You watch him. Every time Fionorid scores, he goes crazier and his head gets redder, and at some point, I don't know when it was, he starts taking his hands and he digs them into his head and you sit there and you go, that looks like that would hurt, but you don't think anything about it. I want you to look up a picture of him. I tweeted it out in the postmatch interview and look it right now, look it up. God, look at his head he has. He is bleeding from the crown of his nose and his head looks insane. And it was his own fingers that did it. You think Danny Hurley's out of control, I'm his head. He did that to himself.
My goodness, the game A man needs a helmet.
If he can't take the the action, has to rip off his own skull.
He literally digs his hands chanton.
Look at that his nose is bleeding.
Caused himself to have a bloody nose. He did a play job on the side he did.
He's like Rick Flair.
You think Danny Hurley needs some help.
This guy needs some help. Pap pep pomp.
Chance to not you have nothing to do? Go to Paramount Plus. Pull up the fienord Man City Game. Fast forward it to the seventy five minute mark and just watch the last fifteen minutes. It's theater, and watch Pip In pale himself. You think our coach's care Danny Hurley ain't got nothing on Pip.
I wonder if we have any Kentucky fans they get into a game at home on the couch and have done anything like that.
Don't that's scary looking? Danny? Go ahead, Dandy.
A fad news and Glassgow yes, and the stops and passed away this year?
Ye who he said, Brandon Stock?
Are you sure that? Wait? Man, is that right?
Yes?
When did that happen?
Oh back earlier in the year. He's been gone for five six seven months. Mhmm, any one time? Collar?
Well, okay, who were all right? I didn't is that true?
Uh?
Yeah, all right, I don't know about that.
Maybe somebody a comvironment, but I'm not trying to I'm not trying to push it.
Yeah, I mean we would hope that you would have it confirmed if you were gonna yeah, all right, Well we.
Think we'd have heard that. We'd find it online. Can't find it.
He posted on Facebook forty five minutes ago.
So I don't think that's sorry, just posted on Facebook. Well then he go up, Wow, talk about throwing it.
I have a lot of good Aaron Fleaner loves brand. I feel like we would know if that happened.
Well, so if he posted on Facebook, I think that means probably not true.
Brandon stocked him a sorry, got his phone number.
I don't know calling.
All right, Rest in peace or rest in life, whichever you're on.
Take right back
