Welcome everyone to Kentucky Sports Radio. I am Matt Jones here live in Lexington, Kentucky on Thursday, October third, at the Cornbread Him Farm out just outside of Lexington. And it is a foggy day, so I don't get to say a lot when we do these shows. But it is foggy and we are here on what is otherwise a little chilly. You can get a shout on Clark's Pumping Shop full nine eight five nine two eighth twenty two eighty seven. A Vision Auto glass text machine is seven four five two five four in this ausition sponsored by the t J. Smith Lawfice called TJ I'll make them pay. I got Ryan and I got Shannon here in person, and we are out here just off the Athens exit right now. I guess this is still Ryan Lexing. It is still Fayette County, still Fayette County. Uh, just not very far from the new soccer stadium. Right we are here where Cornbread Hemp grows their hemp. The fastest growing hemp business in the country, the fastest growing business in the state of Kentucky.

Period. How about that. I know.

I saw Jim Higdon wall go and I said, man, congratulations on all your success. Every time I turn around, you're getting another honor, another award, another recognition, or turn around, he's right behind you. I oh, yeah, hey, what's up by the way.

By the way, we uh, we take all credit for it. We were like the first place you advertise, and uh, you guys have had an amazing success. And this is the hemp field right here where they grow it. This is Shannon Scottie Bazsler's farm.

I met Scotty this morning for the first time.

I've told this story. I don't know did I say it on the air about Scotty last time? I think I did well. I'll say it again. You know. I had Scotty in school. He taught at.

Transylvania and he taught campaigns, and I took two classes from him, campaigns and elections, okay, and then called Congress in action. I in new word action, but it could also be one word Shannon.

See. It was like a play and Congress in action Congress uh in action.

And I loved Scotti. He was the like the my He was the nicest guy, and he taught me a lot of stuff. But I hadn't seen Scotty in like twenty years, and I guess in my mind, I thought he had passed away. And when we came here last time, I'm sitting in my car getting ready to start, and he pounded on my window and I looked up and there he was, and I thought I'd see a ghosts.

So you actually believe in ghosts.

I thought, the ghost of Scottie Massler here.

Haunts these farms.

And then it was great.

It was like so exciting Scotty is still with us, yeah, and it was it was great to see him.

Uh.

He used to call me uh back when I had him his nephew. His friend thought I was he was my uncle but I love Scotty and we're at Scotty's placed.

Former Kentucky Wildcat. Yes, former mayor of Lexington. I mean, the dude is a legend playing I didn't realize he played under Rupp.

Playing under Rup yow, playing under Rupp, and uh all that. So we are here corn Bred hamp. They are promoting their new We talked about the Blueberry Breeze gummies. It has in every gummy ten milligrams of CBD but also ten milligrams of THHC.

So there they go. It's a one to one ratios, right, and it will help you relax. Right.

Everybody that I know that have tried this, that the one thing they all agree on. Man, it makes you sleep great. That have knocked you out and you go have a great sleep.

So they're called and it's completely legal. By the way, it's part of the farm bill.

Now they're about to come through a little bit later with machetes and they hand chop all those Yeah.

I think we were here when we did that last time. It's pretty interesting to watch they come and they just and they chop it and there you go.

It's it's it was amazing to watch because it did a matter of seconds, their crew is out there all these No I wasn't was this will all when we're done, be like just a dirt field.

It said that these plans were taking a beating last weekend because of the hurricane range, and so normally they're standing straight up. They're kind of laid over, but they're all salvigible, which is good.

The video of the videos still in North Carolina are just just just heartbreak. It's you know, and I was listening to the guy that used to run FEMA talk about how even for the government, it's not.

Easy because you can't get to these plants.

Correct, and and because all the roads are cut off, and so you have to use helicopters, and you know, they still don't really know what you know, who swhere and all that. It's just an awful situation. It's like what we saw in eastern Kentucky. But then assume all the roads were cut off, because remember in East Kentucky you could at least get there. Here, all the interstates are cut off in every direction. You know, I saw something. They don't expect any interstate to be able to go from Tennessee to North Carolina until like the end of twenty twenty five. Yes, I saw that, so like I forty from you know, I guess what. Pigeon Fords Gatlinburg, that area of Knoxville to Asheville, they don't expect to be open until the end of twenty twenty five, and then the one coming the other way, coming north to south, is.

Closed a mid twenty twenty five.

So basically, now we talked about this, you're either gonna have to go east up and over like through Virginia, or south down through South Carolina and Georgia to get I mean that trying to get to North Carolina is gonna be like like from here, like you can't do it. You know that old saying you can't get there from here. I'm not sure that you're gonna be able to get there from there. It's really sad.

Yeah, And I saw a report last night where a lot of the communities that have bridges over rivers and things, those bridges are gone, so they're now cut off from getting to where they work, going to store.

Private helicopters, services that are taking food in, you know, they're using now military helicopters.

It's it's just a it's just a terrible situation. But in other news, we are we are here, and I want to ask you folks a question. You to a question, all right.

Because I got one for you.

Well, what's yours? First?

I got one for you too, Well, why'd you pick that hoodie today? That was my question? You got that? I got the direct shot at our boy.

Right, is the ugliest hoodie I've ever seen?

This? Well, first of all, it's a Padres uh huh uh huh completely random.

It is completely random today.

No, no, no, I let me real store here, all right. So I was supposed to host ESPN tonight and the rule was it's seven to ten, and they told us you're likely not to have to do the show because as long as one of these series goes to three games were pre empty.

Gotcha.

So there were four games and I just needed the team that lost Game one to win Game two. First series Tigers Astros Tigers sweep y. Second series Royals uh Orioles Royal sweep. So now I'm down to Braves Padres Mets Brewers. Early in the game, the Mets take the lead on the Brewers and it's like three to one. So then my whole thing is on the Braves because I'm like, if the Braves.

Don't win, I'm gonna have to do a show tomorrow.

At that point, I put my Braves hoodie on on pa, I'm rooting for the Braves, and then you blew it. Thankfully, the Brewers came back, but I'm angry at you because I was almost to have to do a show.

Then on the rotation of shoes, Okay.

Here we go, my bright yellow air Max ninety five tactis were there. I'm like, how do I how do I match yellow and yellow?

And then this Padres.

I mean, you probably have a Golden State Warriors hoodie you could have put on. It's Padres, I'm sure you could have put on.

And this is also the ugliest color of brown it is, don't you agree The Padres have, in my opinion, the ugliest color a GPS.

It is.

It's like, what does brown do for me? So this combination I felt like it was a once in a lifetime.

Well what brown did for you? It got you out of the show tonight.

So your group of eight shoes just happened to include the San Diego Padres gold.

Are Arimax ninety five taxis.

But here's the thing. You had seven other options.

That's true.

Still out on a farm. So we're out on a farm, so I can't wear white shoes. They'll get ruined. So that took like three of them out. Then you know there's a matching thing, and there's just a lot of stuff going on, right.

I think it's a direct shot and our boy wearing the Padres stuff today, There's no doubt about it.

So I have a question for you. Okay, you all do you have to go to the pharmacy? Do you ever have to pick up medicine at the farm?

Oh?

Yes, absolutely.

I'm going to.

Assume like CBS knows what they're doing. They've been doing this a long time they have. But the CBS I go to is an absolute circus. It's the only one in Louisville that's open like twenty four hours. So there are people there everywhere, right, and it's close to my house, and so every time I go, I know I'm going to be encountering chaos, chaos, So I go there. I just want to get set the scene. There's like a line of seven people to pick up the prescription. I stand there.

Do you know anyone that hates lines more than me?

No, no, no, you're the one at the top of the list.

I absolutely hate but I stand there.

I'd left my phone at home to get some non screen time, which means I'm bored to death standing there there. Get to where I'm supposed to be, I have to pick up like four things. Two of them are ready. They don't have two of them. Now, what would you think you would do? You think you would say, Okay, can I get the other two? No, that's a different line. Oh no, that's the drop off line. So you get out of that line after you've been staying for fifteen minutes. Now you get in the drop offline, you say, can I get these two? Yes, It'll be fifteen to twenty minutes. I've already been there, now thirty minutes. Fine, I sit down to go.

Wait.

They have a little waiting room here, a waiting room. Okay, there's a woman there. And you know how when you see someone you go and I know this has happened to you. Please don't talk to me, you know what I mean? Like, I'd listen to her talk to everybody, And this was the first thing she said while I was sitting there.

So I have bunyans that's her introductory comments.

That was our introductory. So I have buniance. Now, Shannon, what I don't even know what a bunyon is? What is a.

Bunyance something on your foot? I think it's like a big callous or something. Maybe, I said, do you know Mario what a bunion is?

You know what a but it's some sort of like callous on your foot.

I've never heard you introduce herself. She just said, so I have bunions, and then she paused.

Like you're supposed to respond? Now, what am I supposed to say to that?

Yeah, I have a toenail on my wallet.

And I went and so I didn't know what to say to her. So I was like, well, that's unfortunate. That's a good response, that's unforced, showing a little compass. I was hoping that'd be the end of the conversation. And she goes, do you know any treatments for bunyans?

Well, I didn't even know.

What it was, so I certainly don't know any treatments. And I was like, well, no, ma'am, I'm sorry I don't. She goes, see, that's the problem. No one can fix my bunions and At this point, I'm just praying for the interview. I was about to get like a flu shot, just so that I would not have to talk to her anymore.

Go check your blood pressure.

Yeah, I'm like, oh, let's go use that machine. Then all of a sudden they call Jones.

Okay, so go get line.

I'm back at the back of a five person line. The line, right, I get to where there's only one person in front of me, and then this woman who's been at consultation, which is a different line, just comes and slides in front of me and stands in front of me. Now, my mother would say, just let it go right, Yeah, that's what. But I have now been waiting for like thirty or forty minutes. I've had to listen to this woman talk about her bunions on her feet.

I'm like, I can't say nothing shit.

Yeah, So you gotta you gotta gotta least.

Stand up for yourself.

It wasn't Aaron Tippins said you got to stand for something or you'll fall for anything. Or I have to listen to this woman talk about her bunians again. So I look at the woman and I go, excuse me, ma'am. I don't mean to be rude.

But you can't cut. I was like, there's a line, and she goes, I was already in that line, and I said, well, I know, but I think here at CBS there are different lines for different things. And she just starts.

Crying, Oh, now you're the bag guy crushed her.

She just starts crying oh. And she's like, I've been here for forty.

Five minutes, and like, well now, Shannon, now let her go ahead. Now I'm the guy.

And then Bunyan Lady.

Like comes over and goes, she's just you and and now I'm I've got Bunyan Lady and.

This woman crying.

What a mess.

And it's a mess and all I want is my perturbation, that.

Not just mellet to your house.

And she looks at me and says, I said, listen, it's fine, it's fine, go ahead, and then she goes no, and she ends up sitting down, and now it's my turn, and she's sitting down and she's crying with Bunyan Lady.

She's out of line though, and so I Ryan, I could not get out of there quick enough. I mean, I I felt like, at that moment, you're not the bad guy. I didn't do anything, but people are thinking you're the bad guy.

You made the poor lady right, Yes, look at this bully making a pull lady cry.

And Bunyan Lady's the hero after talking everyone about her. Bunyan's So I got out of there and I felt I don't know if I felt bad, but I just there has to be a better way to handle these than have to go deal with that.

Can you bring Mario to document it next time so we can see all of this. That's what I want to see.

So after all that, I'm glad to be here with you.

A tough, tough situation nine.

Two twenty two eighty seven. The text machine is seven seven two seven seven four five two five four.

We are here in Lexington at the Cornbread Hemp Hemp Field.

We'll take a break right back. It's Kiasar walking back.

It is Kentucky Sports Radio here in Lexington out close to what you know. Now there's more and more stuff out here, like now there's what alls out here you got.

Welcome to hotel. We did what a pop up show this.

Summer when you were going that new soccer state.

Brand new soccer stadium with all those youth soccer fields behind it used.

To be the only thing here was there was a gas station and a strip club. Yes that was all that was that. No, that was all that was out.

What else you need? They opened the McDonald's. Now there's a McDonald's on the other side's on Wendy's.

Yeah, exactly. They are right now cutting this hemp. And it is the you know when you see people doing jobs like this, which is which are hard, which require like like physical labor, you sit and ruz how worthless shit? And what it is we do?

Oh? Absolutely like we have We have no actual skill.

Don't don't give me a machete. I would probably chop my leg off on accident trying.

These dudes are just rocking through it.

Yeah, and we're here all right, So I have a question for you before we get the phones. They time eighty seven text machine seven seven two seven seven four five two five for this is a bye week. Yeah, this is the last weekend without a UK sporting event. Well, I guess volleyball may play, but it's the last weekend without a UK basketball or football game until hopefully April. Certainly, Mark, yes, right, so this is kind of the last weekend where in theory you could do something fun. Right, So I want you too to help me figure out A what am I gonna do in the state of Kentucky, And b for all of the Kentucky fans listening, what is something they can do on their last weekend? Obviously you could in theory see your children, or you could in theory like hang out with your spouse. But let's say you know you've either had enough of that or you're gonna bring them. We talked about there's a sorghum festival in Springfield.

I think I'm gonna go to that.

Are you really?

You used to always go right in the morning for the breakfast. You're gonna go till it's like seven thirty in the morning.

And we have to be at Shady Rays. You're gonna go to that and then come home.

I'm sorry, Saturday, you're gonna get up and go to.

A breakfast at seven thirty in the morning.

I used to do it as a kid, and I want to run it back little nostalgia.

Huh.

So yeah, I think I'm gonna do that Saturday.

Wow.

All right, So there's that If you go to the breakfast, you'll know Shannon. So what else in the state you've got? I know, you got to buywater farms if people had families with kids. But are there other festivals? Are there other events that you know of? I'd like to sort of give people options.

It's court days this weekend, I don't think so, Okay, I thought maybe it was this weekend.

There's some kind of bourbon thing in Frankfort where you like go and they just give you bourbon.

That sounds fat. You said, what a bourbon? Kentucky is so beautiful this time of year. I mean, it really is.

But do you know, are there are there festivals?

Mario, see if you can find festivals, because I just feel like, also the schedule in college football.

Is awful this weekend.

Yeah, this is the.

Worst weekend of college football I've seen. I mean, probably the two best games if you look at the schedule are Missouri Texas A and m which who cares are Miami Cow? Which is where game day is? I mean, Mario would say Navy Air Force is a big one big. I think Tennessee plays Arkansas. But it's just an absolutely horrible selection of game. So it really is a good chance to like acknowledge your family's existence.

Maybe if you don't have a family, you're still in town, you can go. Maybe if Georgetown College and is at home.

Are they I mean you could maybe, But are they playing? I actually know. I have Georgetown football club players in my class. They're on a bye week. They're on a bye way.

I said to them, if you are playing Saturday, I'll come watch. And they're on a bye bye week.

I think eku's on the road. Even.

Let's say we got Octoberfest going on in Louisville on the fifth.

What is that?

Well, it's october Fest. You go listen to music Frank Beer.

Is that Saturday?

Yeah? That's on the field.

Where is it uh?

In Louisville on East Washington Street?

Where's East Washington?

John Bye? Like slugger field?

I okay, And that's like so that's a whole thing. So that's a good option, right. What else?

You got another thing in Louisville, Louisville versus Dayton comedy battle. I don't even know what that is.

Hang on, just second, Louisville, Louisville versus Date like comedy.

Maybe Dayton has like a comedy team they bring in and they go against Louisville.

And why would that does not sound like why would Dayton have a team.

I don't know.

Lovell's got a team. You gotta play somebody.

So where is the Louisville Versus Dayton.

Comedy monic beer Company?

How do you keep scoring a comedy battle? Whether you laugh, you judge?

How do you keep scoring anything?

It's Louisville versus Dayton comedy battle? That's interesting.

We got the Kentucky Mushroom Festival.

Okay, I heard about that.

Where's that Barren River Magic that is in.

Sulfur Sulfur, Kentucky.

Yeah, that's Henry County, right, I think so.

So the Mushroom Festival? Ye, what do they what do they do with the mushroom Festival?

Mushrooms?

Yeah? I think that's a different kind of festivould be.

That's a different kind of trip.

Okay.

You got bourbon in the Bluegrass. I don't know.

That's prank, That's what I was saying. Okay.

And you've also got the Hidden History walking Tour in Odham County.

What does that mean?

It's a walking tour.

Of Oldham County hidden history.

You can't see it's hidden, Okay, walk down.

Well, if you have suggestions, sure, uh seven seven two seven seven four five two five four, Because I'm looking I don't think I'm gonna get up with Shannon and go to breakfast. So is there something that I can do? Because after this it's all games now. The biggest controversy right now in Big Blue Nation is the new wildcat mascot. Yes, yeah, all right, so somebody, I think somebody KSR discovered that we now have a new mascot.

It's a different it's the.

Same wildcat, but it's a different wildcat than last year. And if you look at the difference, the main difference is the wildcat looks to be either asleep or high.

The new wildcat looks like he ate an entire jar.

This he does.

His eyes are basically almost closed, and he looks like he's either squinting in the sun or or something like that. What now, this is something we're three weeks into the season. I don't think anybody had noticed. Now they've noticed. What do you think of the new mask? Because now you're not gonna be able to not see it, like you probably went the first few weeks and didn't notice, And now that it's been mentioned, Ryan people can look on KSR. The post is up. Everyone's gonna notice. I had no idea. I've seen that mascot and I had no idea that's a new mascot. And how did it take us, you know, five weeks into the season for somebody even.

Noticed what I said.

I mean it was the white eyes were wide open before they had like bright eyes, like they were looking into whatever.

What do you think about the new one?

My understanding is they're trying to make the new eyes look more like an actual cat's eyes. But I think, though, oh, is that correct? I guess they're smaller, you know.

Like, where did you hear that?

I think I read that maybe on Kentucky's sports radio dot. Oh okay, good website maybe, or I made that up just now. But I think that's the idea, is to try to make it look more rule.

I guess that is true, and less cartoon cat's eyes are more closed.

But I don't think the goal of a.

Mascot is to be like two scale.

The one with the wide eyes looked like it had a bunch of caffeine. Who is wide eyed and just staring at you is kind of crazy?

So which do you prefer?

Wide eyed cat Corp bred Hampcat.

I'm going corn Bret Haim. But maybe it's one of the Harrison Twins that are in the new mascot. They were always squinty when they were playing.

Maybe it's because they didn't have Remember they didn't they needed contact.

Maybe this new mascot forgot about that when.

The Harrison Twins shot so poorly and we found out that they didn't they needed contact. Command that is a good memory of the past.

Well, I'm just impressed. It'd be interesting to me the thought process of why they changed it.

They were like, this cat's eyes are way too open. We need to make the eyes much more closed, or we're not gonna be able to do it. We'll take a break, not to eight twenty two eighty seven, Take a calls. This is ksr Out at Cornbread Hill. Welcome back, Take you sports radio. People are getting on me, Shannon for not using a local pharmacy. Are there still local pharmacies in Louisville.

I'm sure there's a handful, but not many.

I mean, if there is, I'm glad to know, but I don't know of one. I'm like, there is a Lexington. I guess this Wheeler's still.

There Wheelers, and there's one on Southland Drive.

But there's I mean, there aren't any left. I would tend to lean that way.

We don't even have them in small towns.

Not in a lot of places.

No one person writes Matt, A bunyon is not a callous Ryan is wrong. A bunyon needs surgical intervention.

It involves a bone.

Oh well, we were just trying to give you a guiny an idea.

What it was.

I thought callous was a good mcallous. No, I didn't know a bunyon was tied into the bone.

Yeah.

News, all right, So apparently there's actually a lot of stuff going on this weekend, all right, So I'll give you a few of them.

See if any of these tickle your fancy. Paintsful Apple Festival.

Oh, that's a that's a big one. I've never been, but I've heard that's that's a big one.

That is a big one.

Yeah.

Yeah, there's a lot of apple festivals.

Yeah, but that's the big one.

That's the one.

The other apples wish they were a part of Saint James Art Festival in Louisville.

That's a great I've been there before. It's out Old Louisville. There's art people everywhere, like a park or That's one I might end up going to. I've been to that before. It's it's it's it's really nice. The Merry Breckinridge Festival in Hiding.

Never even heard of that, but why not?

I wonder why there's a Merry Breckinridge Festival in Hoyden but there's a break and Ridge County in the other the state.

I can't answer that for you.

All right, well, thank you. The Henderson Arts and Crafts Festival.

Well, never been to that one either. These are all this weekend. Yeah, I'm sure they may be on your list. But Keenland opens this weekend. Queenland opens this weekend. It's gonna be a zoo, it will It'll be a zoo.

Uh.

The Bitter Sweet Festival in Mount Vernon.

What's there? Arts and Crafts, Sweet Symphony.

It'll both be good, but then leave you sad at the end.

It's not good. I don't want to be sad when I leave.

I want to be happy.

Five nine eight oh twenty two eighty seven.

Who's up first?

This is your Kentucky Tourism Bureau update. Who's up first. Bruce is up first, Bruce, go ahead, Bruce.

Hey, how's it going? Guys?

Doing good? Also, there's the Wolf Festival in Foulmouth.

I know that sounds exciting, right.

What's the Wolf Festival?

I don't know.

We were just my wife and I were looking up things to do this weekend at festivals around and we saw there's the wolf.

Wolf shearing sheep.

Yeah, I mean they have to do that.

I assume they're gonna be bald sheep everywhere after it's over something.

Yeah, okay, Anyway, my question is I saw where, uh, there's a like a Dirk Country Oklahoma band is doing a concert for Oklahoma State in Ilka that will probably sell out their their football stadium. And I just thought that seemed like a good idea.

What.

Yeah, well we did remember we did a Kentucky did a John Legend show that was for UK football this summer.

I was gone, what did you go threw with? I know, but there was a John Legend concert.

I think Morgan Wallen when he did his shows in Knoxville, did something did he?

Some of which ended up for Tennessee? So you're right.

I mean, if we have a famous musical artist with some sort of connection to Kentucky. It makes sense to do something like that.

Yeah, I just first of all, Oklahoma State just seems like, you know, they've already got the richest uh booster in in all of college football.

I can't believe they're doing that.

But you know, still, you know, it seems like.

An easy way to make a couple of million dollars.

It is just his question, is you got to find a musical artist. I appreciate the call. Who's willing to do it? Shanon and is willing to do it for free and donate all the money? Trying to think who are the biggest Kentucky fan musical artists?

Well, you know, Ashley Judd is a huge Kentucky fan.

But she's not a musical art Yeah, but I don't know if she's a Kentucky fan. I don't know if she cares.

I mean, I guess what you're talking Eddie Eddie and John Michael.

Montgomery, Well, Chris Stapleton, but.

Is he a Kentucky fan. I know he's from Kentucky.

Kevin Richardson, maybe he can Kevin Richardson, maybe he could do a Backstreet Boys concept for UK Sports for sure, because like we have a lot of people from Kentucky. But like, I don't know if Tyler Childers, I don't think he really likes sports. Never heard Sturgel Simpson say anything about sports.

It seems like I've heard Stapleton though that he's a Kentucky guy in UK guy.

I mean, well he would be. I mean if you if you could get you probably can't, but if you could get him to do a concert.

Wait, didn't he just play at Kroger Field?

Yeah, But I don't think that went to I think that went to Chris. That went to Chris Stapleton Incorporated. Who's next there, Scottie Bassler?

How you doing? Scotty? Go ahead? Rob is up next? Rob? Go ahead? Rob?

Sot Who I was gonna recommend that you just said.

I think that's a great thing.

To go to.

I think you should do your show out there.

I don't know what we've done. We've done it before. We've done Keenland a number of times. They they did. I don't think they. I think we they have enough people.

And I think when we're there, we just cause, uh, we just cause it to be more like more hectic wherever we are.

So I think that's why probably why they don't do it. Now.

Oh, that's unfortunate.

It's a great place.

It is a great place, all right, appreciate it, sir. Oh wait a minute, you got one more. Go ahead.

I was just gonna say, I do your parents in college. We weren't the UK together in the seventies, so I watched your career and I think you're great.

Well, thank you very much. I appreciate it. That's very kind of you. Thank you, sir.

If I'm nine, uh, toy, how people know my parents? It's nice if I'm nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven, A couple pieces of football news we need to talk about. This is and the most joyous thing in the world. But you know, I said, and I believe this is the case that it's very unlikely Chip Tray and.

Them plays this year. Yeah, you said that last week, and that's been.

Uh uh you know, that's that's kind of where things are. I'm storting. Are you wondering about the same thing with mix Weell Harriston.

Yeah, to be honest, because you know, he tried to go and he just couldn't do it. And we had earlier in the week we heard he was gonna play, and by the end of the week they pulled him. So there's there's It wouldn't have pulled him for that game if there wasn't something serious.

And mar Stoop said, yesterday they asked him about it and he said something like, uh, he's out and will update his future status sometime in the near future. And that's not the kind of answer that makes you think he's gonna come back and play.

Now. I mean, I I'm not saying I know he's not, but uh, I'm I kinda am going to start probably in my mind Shannon, thinking that I don't think he's gonna play it.

Yeah, originally we were hearing by like what game three he would probably be ready.

Well, that's you're talking about Tip chip Train, chip Train, Maxwell Harriston. Since he's been out, he's been out and I think, you know, I don't. I don't know all the details, but I think the thing it is is is not well I don't I don't want to get into it, but I I just kind of don't.

I don't know Ryan, if I think he's gonna play. I hope he does, but I just don't know if he will.

I think it was definitely reason for concern. When they pulled him like day before the game, like that he was going to try to go, try to go, he couldn't go, and you know, he wants to play.

If you just listen.

Though to Mark Stoop's answer, it's not the kind of answer of a person that necessarily thinks he's gonna play, you know what I mean, because he basically said we'll have an update on that in the future.

It wasn't like we'll see how he feels at the end of a week or anything like that.

I would think, you know, this is the bye week. If neither one of those guys are playing in two weeks for Vandy, we got to be concerned.

Yeah, well, I would just expect Chip train him not to play. Yeah, I mean, if he plays, I will be very I will be surprised. Again, I hope I'm wrong, but I'll be surprised if he plays. Now. Harristond, I don't know for sure, but I you know, sometimes you just kind of get the feeling that it doesn't feel it doesn't feel good.

Defense has been holding up though, well. I mean that's one thing. You do have depth defensively.

Well and in the secondary.

I thought played great against Old Miss all things considered, when you consider that who what their passing attack is and all that, I thought they played great.

Yeah. JQ. Hardaway had a great game. He was really good. And then we talked about that freshman from Hardaway.

Yeah, not sure because I think he's been sort of a little bit of a revelation, you know what I mean.

Have to look it up. I'm not sure where he's from.

More concerning thing for me is health than we are at running back. You have one injury, now you're in trouble.

Well we get Patterson back, right or did we get was he that he might have played last game.

He was in uniform. I can't remember if he actually played or not.

So you have three.

But you know, we'll see. So far, those guys have held up pretty well. Hopefully the bye week gets them, gets them in better place. If you get a touchdown, get six points matters more. At Draft Kings Sports, it does tell me about did you hear Tom Brady said Tuddy during the game.

I didn't hear that, but I'm not sure. It's kind of brow thing to do. Soudy, you hate it. I hate Tuddy On the Draft Kings spots he doesn't even say it.

No, you won't say it. No, So what do you say when it says TDS because you read the scripts?

I don't on that one.

Welcome back.

It is Kentucky Sports Radio, Matt Jones, Ryan liv and Shannon the dude sitting here talking to Scotty played for UK nineteen fifty nine to nineteen sixty three. Played was the mayor of Lexington during the what late eighties, early nineties is that right? Mostly the eighties. Then he went to Congress and he was just telling us that in Congress they had every day they'd played basketball at four point thirty, the Republicans and Democrats, and he would play. I would love to see a congressional basketball game. I think that would be funny to watch.

You asked him.

You just split it up Republicans versus Democrats. That would have been fun to watch. Well, first of all, I bet Scotty kind of dominated. I'm not sure how many of them played basketball at Kentucky shit. And when they were in Congress, he said Steve Largent was good former Seattle Seahawks wide.

I feel like that's that makes some.

Sense about Scotty was the ringer of the bunch. Yes, he's lived an interesting life.

Very interest.

When when I was at Trancy, he took us to Washington, d C.

Me, all right, think about who's on this trip? Me tall turkey hunter. Uh.

There were a bunch other of our friends, and then we all went up there. He tore us around Congress. What I liked about Scotty he was an old school blue dog democrat, wasn't that was called?

And so it was like a it's kind of democrat. I feel like that that I am, and he would.

But when we went up there, we met with Democrats, we met with Republicans because everybody likes Scottie and uh, I remember here he wasn't in Congress anymore. But there he took us to the Congressional cafeteria. Oh we got to eat and that seemed like we got to eat? Was it bean soup? Isn't that the thing they have there?

That was so good?

We got to eat bean soup? Uh? And we stayed in a hotel there and in college. That was a really really cool trip for us.

Heck of a trip to take what you're at college guy, He.

Took us and in the course of us being there, and again, people who are younger may not know who these people are.

We may know who one of them is. But this was what was great about Scotty. He knew people on all ends of the eye.

We went and talked to Barney Frank, who was probably one of the most liberal members of Congress. And we went and talked to Hal Rodgers, who is probably one of the most conservative. And he took us to both of them. They both were very nice to us, and uh, it was a lot of fun. He took us on the floor at one point, I think we were on the floor of the of the House or Senate.

I can't remember. People were giving speeches, they were boring, but we were there. Uh. So it was great.

He's one of these guys wo could sit and talk to for hours. He told her, I said, where do you play high school ball? He said, I played it Athens? The old Athens High School closed it down his junior yar and had to go to Brian Station for his senior year Athans High School. So I don't think about it.

What didn't even think about there being a high school over there?

Yeah?

So uh.

And then after we finished, he was running, uh, trying to remember who were you running again? You ran for Senate, sent it against Bunning And we went Me and Turkey Hunter and Tall and my friend DJ. We went to one of his fundraisers out here, I think at your house, and he brought was it Joseph Kennedy? Is that who came out here? I think it was Joseph Kennedy. And there was a great moment where Joseph Canny he was talking to my high Joseph Kennedy was a state was a representative. He was talking to my friend DJ from high school. Yeah, and I look and they're just talking like Middlesborough High School's DJ and Joseph Kennedy from Massachusetts for like ten minutes, just talking.

And I was sitting there thinking what could they be talking about that long? But it was just a cool memory.

So when you came out head to that, when you guys actively involved in the election.

Yeah, we were, well, we were out of class by then, but we were pulling for him. They wanted him to win, and so he was always very nice to us. So it's great to see you, Scotty eight FM nine two eight oh uh twenty two eighty seven.

Who's up next?

Lucas is up next?

Good, Good to see you man. Good Lucas go ahead.

Hey, guys, our secondary can maintain like they did against Ole Miss.

Do we have the best defense in the SEC?

Well, I don't know about best, but I mean we have a top what certainly top half, maybe top five.

Right if they if they all were to the secondary was to keep playing like this.

I think you can make an argument right now. You hold Georgia to thirteen points, you held Mississippi State to forty points under their average, held them only three hundred yards when they were averaging six hundred yards a game. I think at this moment you could make an argument that they're one of the definitely one of the best. I mean, yeat.

Also look at who Ole Miss played just to play Devil's advocate.

But I mean they have only what I thought was an amazing stat about the Georgia game is Georgia has only scored twenty points or fewer three times in the SEC in the last five years. And they've all been against Kentucky. Yep, yep, I mean that's a pretty amazing statistic. Rynd three times in the last five years, all against Kentucky.

You know, we talked all summer, we knew this could be one of Stoop's best defenses, and they're proven us right now. Again, we don't know what the heck happened in that South Carolina game. But if you take just a Georgia game, in the Old Miss game, they did something I think that most of the SEC didn't think could be done. Stop Georgia and stop All Miss.

That's right, who's up next?

God, Jeff, Jeff, go ahead.

Jeff, thank you for taking my call.

I was calling about the festivals this weekend. And I know a caller earlier I mentioned the Kentucky Wool Festival, but he didn't see know much about it. It's in Baalum, it's home of Dante Allen.

Oh, it's in Pendleton County. Tell me what happens at the wool Festival.

Well, you have over two hundred craft vendors set up, you have over thirty food vendors. You have a kids area that has sand art and pony rides, and then they do have a sheep shearing. But then they have a pen set up and folks can watch the dogs herd the sheep, and they have two stage.

I mean, wait, hang on a second, you can when you say watch the dogs herd the sheep, so you can watch dogs like take sheep from one place to another.

Absolutely, yes, sir that's kind interesting.

It's amazing.

And so when is the sheep shearing? Because I've seen that and it's kind of a have you ever seen a sheep be sheared? Yes, it's kind of I'm a bizarre thing to watch.

When is that?

Well, they have at different times during the day. It's a three day festival. It's Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, and they do it periodically through the day so folks can stop buying and see it. And then they have two stages that have music all day. It draws about thirty thousand people over there. That's a lot of people. Well, I appreciate it.

I always feel like the sheep would be really cold after they lose all their wool, Like did they give the sweep of a sheep a sweater or it's.

A great point. They cut all their hair off right when it starts to get cold. That's when they need that extra warmth, that extra Have.

You thought about this a lot?

Well, when they cut your hair off, do you get cold? Well, you don't have a lot, but if back when you back when you did, did you get cold when they cut your hair off?

No?

But I'm thinking the sheep he's hot in the summer, when you get all that hair, they finally cut it off and then it gets cold on them. Do you I feel bad for the sheep now then't thought about that?

I mean, let me just curious. Do you do you know if sheep get cold?

I don't know, just as soon I mean, do you get cold?

Yeah? Okay, yeah, but I mean I.

I don't think my coldness depends on whether or not I've decided to shave my chest that week or not. Well, not that I've ever done that, but I'm just saying, but.

If you took off that ugly San Diego Padre.

Yeah, who's up next?

Lyndell is up next?

Glyndell? I got about thirty seconds. Go ahead, all right.

The Mary Breckenridge Festival and Hydene you were talking about is named after a nurse from England who started the Frontier Nursing Service.

Oh I do know about this, Yeah, yeah, I actually do know about that.

My friend got married up there at one of those Merry Breckinridge things.

I remember that I was there.

Yeah, and uh, they've actually moved their headquarters to Versailles now.

But all right, well there you go. I appreciate see look on this off week. We're learning about our state, a lot of places to go, worring about all the things you can do. We'll take a break a five' nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven. They're taking away the hemp here on KSR
