This is Kentuck Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. Now Here's Matt Jones.

Welcome back, out number two can tell you sports radio If I'm nine two eight, twenty two eighty seven here at KS Bar.

We're open for lunch.

Just open the doors, come on in if you want to have a it's kind of a cloudy day lunch. But Goose is in his seat right there. We're ready to go. A couple things. First of all, you know one of my pet peeves, Yes, my pet peeve is we do a contest and somebody wins tickets and then they come back and say, sorry, I can't use them. Why'd you play in the contest our guy? I mean, I'm sure he's a nice guy. But like now, we did the content. The other five people I'm sure would have liked.

To have used it.

Yes, So now I'm stuck with these three four day larger than life bands. So here's what I'm gonna do. I'm here at the bar in Lexington. First person to come up that will use them? I have three bands for you. So the first person to come to KS Bar that would use them. And when I mean use them, you can't sell them. I have a way of checking. Don't you work?

Du du dum. But I'm gonna be at the bar. I see what the problem is.

Because we that he waited to tell us this morning, I don't have a chance to transport them to Louis.

Yeah, so it'll have to be in Lexington. If you come to the bar.

These are three.

These are all four days, Shannon, you can see you can meddle it out for all four days.

Over one hundred and thirty bands are gonna be there.

I have three in here.

The other thing, if you just have one, if you don't have any friends, it's okay that you don't have any friends, but don't take three if you don't have one. Right, they're gonna sit here, and the first person that comes at wants them. Normally, if it's tickets, I give them away quick.

This is different.

I mean, sir, I'll give them to you, But will you use them? You promise you'll use them?

All?

Three?

Just too well, now I can't. They're three. Well, what who are you going to use them?

With?

You and your cousin? All right, you can take a friend. Now they're over. He was already in here eating from Arizona. Do you like metal? Okay, you don't look like a metal head to me, but you're you're your metal head.

You're all kinds of things.

All right.

Well, now they're gone, So there you go.

His slip knot mask is in his car. All right.

I tell you I wouldn't have guessed him as a metal head. No, So the contest is over within seconds. I hope you're excited. You know that's four days of medaling.

He's got them.

Okay, dude, those are expensive. I mean, that's a nice prize you just gave away.

So our guy Chris Kel is gonna be playing tonight in five Finger Death Punchlay nine.

Five Finger Death Punch. Yeah, were they on the the thing?

Yeah? They need a bigger fun. Yeah.

They suld have been a top band.

They're one of the main bands.

All right, So there you go. Sorry to whoever else wanted them, they already got taken. But that's why you eat lunch here at eleven o'clocks. You know you told me the Mayor Craig Greenberg says he's going to slam a guitar.

It's the christening of the stage at six ' ten tonight, Mayored Craig Greenberg is going to get up on stage and smash a guitar and a bottle of bourbon. I hope the bottle is not full. I hope it's an empty bottle. But he's gonna smash it.

To me that he's gonna do that, Craig is the dorkiest person I know.

I know it's gonna be awesome, isn't it.

I mean, I love Craig, but he is a huge dork and he's gonna smash a guitar.

Yeah, I want to be up on stage to get video, take.

A picture of the video, and that I gotta see that.

I mean again, I love Craig and I think he's doing a good job as mayor, but he's the dorkiest person I've ever been friends with.

Dorks can smash guitars, can they do?

Dorks smash guitars.

I just hope he swings hard enough to get it on the first swing.

If he doesn't smash, because you don't want to.

Bounce back up and hit you in the face, that will be bad, all right.

Yeah, please work with him. He's gonna hurt himself if you're not part of me.

Is secretly hoping he swings and doesn't break. Swings again, doesn't breaks, like three or four times, that doesn't break.

I love Craig, but This is not what he's good at. He's like a numbers guy. He's like an accountant type. He does not break guitars.

He's one of those.

He needs one of those Jeff Jared guitars to explode.

Craig is the kind of guy if he was in the hay contest, I would have picked Billy over him.

I would have picked the Hay.

All right, Well, let me know how it goes.

I want to all right, So yesterday when I was on the show, I said that I wanted to have a documentary about the you know, the day that they hired uh Mark Pope.

And one of the.

Things that that that we talked about was, you know, I got the phone call probably ten o'clock that night, maybe nine forty five, that it was gonna be Mark Pope, and I had thought at four or five pm it was going to be someone else. And people last night when I was here Trivia, all they wanted to do was ask me who did you think it was?

And I didn't answer anyone. But I thought about it, and I felt like I had said that before, but I guess I hadn't tried.

I don't know if you've said it on the show, you've told us, but I don't know if you said it on the show.

So I felt like I would just go ahead and say it. So you got to go back through the process of the hire. They get the know from from Scott Drew. Let's say, what was it Tuesday afternoon or maybe Monday afternoon, and then they go and a group of people I think go to try to talk to Danny Hurley.

I don't think they ended up talking to him.

I think they maybe talked to his agent, but there was a conversation there with with with Danny Hurley, and then all of a sudden the search widens, and I believe now after all this time, that really there were six names they had already been told no by Nat Oates, but they were gonna kind of try again, right, Sean Miller, Bruce Pearl, who's the.

Other one I'm thinking of, will not will.

Lead, Chris Beard, Yes, Chris Beard, Mark Pope, and Shaka Smart. And then early in the afternoon on that Thursday. I cannot say for certain that this is what UK thought, but I think there were a lot of people around kind of leaning towards that they thought one person was maybe gonna be the initial target, and then I was told that the higher ups at UK and I don't know if this means Eli Capaludo himself or the board or whoever, but basically four names were taken off the list.

Collectively.

They were kind of told Natoates, Chris Beard, Sean Miller, and Bruce Pearl could not be the higher which really at that point left Mark Pope and Shaka Smart and then maybe expanding the pool of candidates if you wanted to. At that point, I think Mitch had talked to both of them and was comfortable offering Mark Pope. But before those four candidates were taken off Ryan they had talked some with Oates early in the process. But I got a phone call, let's say three four o'clock that day saying I think there's a good chance Bruce Pearl could be the could be the coach here, and I was sort of trying to think in my mind, well, what does that look like if it is. And then I think very soon after that was said was when he was taken off the list along with those others, and it coalesced around Pope. I say all that to say at the time I was I admit I was a little disappointed because I thought Bruce Pearl here could kill it.

Now you fast forward four or.

Five months, and I actually think it's the right call in hindsight. I think, you know, we'll see if Mark Pope has that level of success, we'll see. But I think a lot of what's happened with Pearl, how he's kind of in my view, Pearl's sort of outspoken nature here recently, especially on Israel and Palestine.

But it also some of it's going into politics.

I think it's in part like he just kind of knows that Auburn's my last job now, so I'm gonna do what I want. I don't know that he could have done all that stuff here, to be quite frank with you, but I actually think Mark Pope, now that I've watched him for four or five months, was the right hire. What do you think with those names? I mean, you knew this that I'm talking about, But what do you think?

Yeah, I think those are a report that the directive came down from up top removed these guys from the list. And for Bruce Pearl, I mean he he has all those intangibles that you have in addition to being a basketball coach, all the other entangials to sit in that chair, you know, meeting with the boosters, you meeting with the fan base, connecting with the fan base and things like that. But now Mark Pope has proven he also has those cageables. That's exactly right. All the things about Pearl off.

The court that I thought would be good for the job, it looks like that Mark Pope has that too, Drew. So now the question is gonna be can he be as good on the court. We don't know that answer yet, but I've thought a big reason why Pearl would work is he would reignite this fan base, and Pope now has done that as well.

Oh yeah, Pope's done it more than anyone could have, because you just can't have that connection that Pope has riding the bus in bringing all the former players. Nobody could have done that that Sunday and Rupper, and if it had been Bruce Pearl there would have been eight hundred to one thousand people there. You just can't recreate what they have with Pope and today on September twenty sixth, I don't think anyone could have done as good a job as Pope to this point. He's got to win games. That's the biggest thing. But he got the two state recruits already. He built about as good of a team as I think you can build in that short window. I mean, there weren't that many players available at that time, and I think the roster he had is pretty dang good all things considered. So even though I was on team Pearl. I've said this before, I actually wrote a list for the website. I had Pope Rink tenth. He was tenth on my list. I had several people I wanted before him. Now that we've lived four months of it, I can't imagine anyone else being in this far.

I totally agree with you on that. I now think you're right.

I think they'd have had more than a thousand people, but I don't that place would not have been.

Full for Bruce Pearl, not like it was for Markeint, not like it was for Market.

Might not even attempted it.

Actually, it had to be Mark Pope right to get that reaction.

And again, he still has to win games.

But I do think my initial reaction on that Thursday night, which was I think this is a bad decision, I think was an incorrect reaction. And you know, we'll see how it plays out. But in hindsight, I think it took some guts for Mitch to pull that. You know, now, if you tell me his two choices are Mark, Pope and Shaka Smart, I don't then I think that's an obvious right choice.

I was going to Pope on that one for sure.

Yeah, I show you.

But like you know, in the moment, I didn't know that those four names had been pulled.

You know, we didn't know that yet.

We found that out later on, you know, and like you said, five months later after the fact, Look how things have changed in Bruce Pearl's world. I don't know if that would work here at Kentucky if he was the guy the things he's doing now.

You know, it's worth remembering that sometimes you may think you know all that's going on, and you don't, right, And in that moment, I thought he's chosen Pope over these guys.

What I didn't know is he didn't have.

A choice, and that was not something that I was aware of at the time.

What we didn't know in that moment is that months later, in September, Kentucky would have the number one recruiting class.

We were worried about that recruiting. Done a great job there.

Who's up next, Let's go to Dwayne.

Dwayne, go ahead, Dwayne, Greetings from Western Kentucky through.

Matt.

I've got a question in Cuba. Nil question about should the NCAA develop a format contract and should there be like a price pricing guide for levels.

Of Yeah, you can't do that.

You can't do so again, we have to reorient our thinking on college sports to think of it like a business.

Right, So you can't.

So it's we have to because the Supreme Court has now said college sports is a business.

You can't.

The rules of economics have to play. You're not allowed an organization that has a monopoly, which is basically what the NCAA has. You're not allowed to set prices and fix them.

So well, I meant like a minimum them.

I mean they could do a minimum, but they can't do a maximum, if that makes sense, right, So I understand that.

So because of that, yeah, I mean they can do a minimum. I don't think the NCAA will do that because there are some kids that probably will get zero. But but they but they can could not set a maximum. They couldn't set a salary structure like in the NFL, where you go a first year makes this and blah blah. You can't do that in college sports because they don't collectively bargain.

Right, What about a format contract that so that everybody kind of has the same.

They could do that. I think they could probably do that. Yeah, I think that'll probably be allowed. That's just a guess, but I think so.

Yeah, appreciate you're saying like there could be a uniform contract.

I think that.

I don't think that would get shut down by the courts. A uniform contract of everyone has to sign.

I I think that would probably be okay.

Well, why would people be against it against something like that.

Because there are some schools that don't want people know what they're doing, And then I think there's schools who don't want there to be a market that everybody knows what everyone's getting paid.

Yeah, but I think that's inevitable, So they're just gonna to get used to it.

Five and a half?

Five and a half point favorite in New York? Who you got before you go? Big news?

Andrew Phillips is out maybe one of the only players the Giants who's played good.

The former Kentucky defensive back.

He's pat a car for them.

I hate the Cowboys. I've always hated the Cowboys. I'll never root for the Cowboys. I'm going Giants to cover all right.

I've watched every snap of the Cowboys this season, and they're very disappointing on defense. As bad as the Giants are, I will take them to cover.

The five and a.

Half Cowboys are covering.

You don't put too much stock in the last two weeks they roll Tonight, win by at least two touchdowns.

What do you got chating?

I also hate the Cowboys just like Ryan. I'm going with the Giants to cover.

Right, I'm the only one with the Cowboys. I'm good with it.

Got cowboys lamp.

They got big problems.

Yeah.

By the way, when we when we tape fade this today, you'll see I think we're I'm killing it.

Oh, are you.

I don't know, but I think what's up next?

Somebody keeping track? Bill? Okay, Billy?

Also, that's rarely accurate too.

I'm beaten, Drew bad.

You know that. Oh no, I'm losing. But no, when Billy comes with the stats, sometimes we double check them.

There.

Yeah, all right, go ahead, eatie, eatie. How are you eating?

Hey, guys, how are you good?

What's going on?

Oh? Not much. I was just thinking about you guys and thought I always calling along. I had a few minutes on my way to treatment and wanted this. Say never get the kiss. She goes off the air.

So well, I hope you are feeling better? How is you? How are you feeling better?

I'm getting here, all right, we'll see.

Well, good luck with you.

Thank you. I want for your picks on a draft chain.

Uh to bet?

I don't bet much like a time.

Fifty cents is a good amount. The fifty cents is a good amount. It's like getting a soda. Don't worry about well. I hope you feel better. And remember you can listen on your phone if you I know you you don't get the station where you are, but I hope you'll listen.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, listen, you gouts more basketball so you gus can tune and football. Hey, that's those on football, man.

I'm in chrissed well, good well, it's good to hear from you, Edie. Good luck with everything.

Thank you to hear you too.

See how do Psycho Kitty for us?

Yes, Psycho Kitty, I appreciated Edie. Psycho Kitty. Who's up next to Kyle?

Kyle?

How are you?

Kyle?

Hey?

Doing good?

Matt.

I'm concerned about our football team's offensive scheme going from game to game in terms of being replicable, replicable for success in SEC and I want to bring up the fact that during South Carolina and Georgia game, both games, we had about thirty percent of our passes going ten yards or farther downfield, and many of those South Carolina first reads were for when Brock got sacked. We're going above ten yards downfield, and then Ohio we jumped that up to over sixty two percent of attempts going ten yards of further downfield. So I just want to hear your thoughts on the lack of play calling for like three to eight yard passes to set up which I think will be crucial. Third and manageables for against old myths to control the clock. And then how is Dan Key, who is six foot three in a massive target and is by far the best route runner and getting cornerbacks turned around? How is he not getting more targets for running like simple slant dig or out routes.

What are you all right?

Ryan?

I could see you few like foaming at the mouth during those whole conversation.

That is our Don Franklin, because I could not agree with him more. I think he should throw it to six every time, but they just they it changed things up last week and you saw the difference. Man, you got a big target out there, and he can, you know, get those six to eight yard routes every time? Why not utilize it? But I'm afraid going down an ole miss we're gonna see running, or a lot of running. They want to control the clock, keep old missus offense off the field. I think we're gonna run and pound.

I don't think you're gonna see us air it out. I don't either, because I do I agree with Ryan. They're gonna try to like they want to limit possessions for Old miss They basically and it's not a terrible strategy when you play a team better. This is what frustrates me about when we play teams like Ohio or even South Carolina. When you're as good or better than the team, play your offense. But when you're playing a team that's better than you, you want to slow it down. And I think that's probably what we're gonna see Saturday. They're gonna play slow, but they always need to run. They're not just gonna drop back an er it out on first down. They need to run to set up and get to a third and short. Here lately, we've had a lot of third long I mentioned this yesterday. I think we're forcing Barry on Brown too much and it's not getting very far with these jet sweeps.

And the screens. I wouldn't mind a little more Dane, especially after the way he played last game. But the point is there. They got to run the ball.

That's just Kentucky's identity to be able to throw. Yeah, and it starts with getting few chunk yards on first and seconds, so you're looking at a third and four instead of a third and nine.

Who's up next, Matt, Matt, go ahead, Matt, Hey, Matt, this is a first time call.

Longtime listener who got a question for you, and I'm going to hang up and listen to your alls comments. With sports betting coming into Kentucky, do you think that's had a negative impact on UK's fan base as a whole with money being on the line.

No, No, I mean we've been negative. There have been people negative since the eight offer up days.

I mean I don't think.

I don't think money has anything to do with the I mean, if you want to know why the fan base is all right, So when did sports betting start? It started last fall. What happened in football? We had a relatively disappointing season. What happened in basketball we had a really disappointing season. Then we got to football. We lost to South Carolina, a team we got to beat. So the negativity is not because of betting. The negativity is we just haven't been good. If we were good, everything will be positive. I mean, it's just kind of how it is.

All right, I'm gonna go ahead and pull this out there. It's getting full time. Everybody's cooking soups and chilis. Noodles do in fact belong.

In chili go cats? Oh noodles do belong in chili.

My mom makes chili with noodles. Yep, I grew up with it.

Yeah.

I don't really like chili noodles in chili, but I like chili over noodles at Skyline.

Uh huh, yes, so I actually I.

Don't know why I wouldn't like it. You're just building it yourself.

But I think the way you build it matters.

Little noodles in chili.

I don't gold Stars. I do one of them provide noodles in their chili?

Is that a thing I don't know?

I've never never asked. When I go to Skyline, I'm very focused. Four way onions, two crackers, knife, take half the cheese off, and then just eat.

I don't look at what other people are understood.

It's a very it's a very simple thing, and I gotta make sure I focus. We'll take a break very back. This is KSR.

TJ.

Smith, personal injury attorney called TJ.

He'll make them pay. Now more of Kentucky Sports Radio present it by Stockton Mortgage. Here's Matt Joe.

Did you hear that that conversation, Channon, where I was trying to explain to Ryan what iSER Bayijan is.

I was yeah, I was listening in Yeah, I have never heard that word ever.

What it's a country, never heard of it. This is a soccer team from the country Carabag.

Also never heard of that.

Well, I don't expect you to have heard of that. But iserby Jean is kind of a it's it's a it's a country that, like you know, people know, people talk about.

I'd ask you where is it.

It's in Europe, at the edge of Europe, next to Asia. It might have been part of the Soviet Union. I'm not sure, but it's called iSER by Jean.

I'm learning on this right here.

Okay, So I bought this hoodie once. Yeah, and this team plays Tottenham Hotspur today in the Europa League, and so I decided to honor them by wearing this. This teacher, this hoodie iSER by Jean. It's you're saying it like you're just learning to speak. It's it's iSER by Jean. iSER by Jean No no zong no g at the g sounds like you isser by Jean.

ISER by Jean.

There you go, got it, very well done.

If I'm nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven, one person writes, uh, here what do they say. One person writes, Matt, have you seen the new show Monsters? I feel like it's right up your all's aali you've been watching that about the Menendez brothers.

I saw it come out, but I haven't seen it yet.

I haven't.

I watched a little bit the first episode. Do you remember the Meninde?

Yeah, absolutely, Yeah, that was a big deal.

It was they still see the People magazine cover with them on it.

Yeah, so they were like two handsome guys alleged to have killed their parents. Yes, I remember it being on television, but I don't really remember any of the details. So like, as I watch it, I think I'm gonna like kind of learn stuff. It was a little bit before I was pat was like right for OJ, Right.

It was kind of close. Yeah. I went to hit play on it just two nights ago.

And then there's I saw there's like nine episodes, a lot of I just wasn't ready for the commitment, but it's on my list.

A lot of episodes.

The OJ trial and the Minde trial were the first two to like kind of be broadcast on TV. And when the one Meninda's brother testified on the stand and that said those things he said it. It just blew everybody away. We were just I think seeing something like that for the first time.

Yeah, so so I want to watch that.

Do you know about their famous basketball cart.

Yes, they have Jackson Mark.

Look at that Mark Jackson. He's playing for the Knicks, and on the card right next to him.

The minute his brothers were in like the Spike Lee seats.

They were in the games very clearly, just before.

They were charged or whatever, the killing had already happened. They got the money and went and bought these court side seats in the Knicks game, and just so happened to ended up on Mark Jackson's basketball card.

I didn't know.

They're like the only three people you can see. It's Mark Jackson and they just happen to be right next to his.

Okay, and then other shows I've told you about, Slow Horses.

I'm a huge fan of that show.

I highly recommend if you're the kind of person that likes the shows that I've talked about, the sort of smarter shows, not the kind of trashier shows, I highly recommend Slow Horses on Apple TV.

It's Gary Oldman.

It's like about this British spy agency, but it's like the Terrible Spies get put in another building. But then like they they're good, they're kind of secretly good. It's really I've watched the first season. I think there's four seasons. Oh wow, I'm only through the first one. But I'm I'm a big fan of slow horses.

Apple TV.

To me, if you're just liking quality shows, Apple TV's the best. They have the best, Like they don't put anything out that's not good. And then I have not watched, but I keep hearing people talk about Secret Lives of Mormon Wives.

Heard me written all over it.

Oh you're shaking your head. Have you seen it?

People say it's wild Secret Lives of Mormon Why it's apparently more and this is like a reality show. It's like Mormon wives that are also kind of swingers.

Is that what it is?

Yeah, they got in trouble for going too far in their in their little group, and they got a reality show out of it.

Yeah.

So yeah, they got in trouble because they were Mormons and they were like, y'all are acting a little crazy.

Well, they're a group.

They had rules and one of the couples snuck off and broke the rules. Oh, they broke the rules and instead of you know, ruining a marriage, your life falling apart, they got a TV show.

They got a TV show. So Shannon's Secret Lives of Mormon Wives.

I'll put that on my list as soon as I finished mister McMahon on Netflix.

That there's a lot of good television on right now.

Chimp Crazy.

Okay, so I've watched the first two episodes of Chimp Crazy. That woman is something else now, I mean that woman is have you have you seen that?

I want to watch it?

Oh my goodness, Like, uh, I watched a couple of episodes with Max. He's he like, I think he thinks that's how all Americans are. Like that woman like, it's crazy. She has a chimp. Well, I don't want to spoil it because there are twists and turns. There's lots of twists and turns. It's called Chimp Crazy. It's about the people who did Tiger, Yes, and now it's about a woman in her chimpanzees.

That's the one everybody's talking about. That's like seemed to be the number one show that everybody's trying to tune in. I want to see it.

All of you listening amongst those shows I mentioned, uh, Monsters, Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, show Horses, Chimp Crazy and mister McMahon.

There's something for all of them, if there's.

Something for all of you in the mcmanshow just came out, didn't like.

It's apparently amazing, but I haven't. I haven't seen it. Who's up next, Dave, Dave, go ahead, Dave.

Hey, guys, two things.

You're coming to Levinan.

You need to make sure you know what rules are If.

It's Southern Haybale Throwers Association, so you know they count the slide or where it lands.

That's my only tis for you on the haybale throwing.

But oh so, so that's a good point. It's is it is it air distance or is it how far it goes after it rolls? Exactly?

So you need to know what you know what hay Bale Throwers Association rules are using.

It could be you know, Southern haybale throwers, it could be Midwest.

Just make sure you check the.

Rules the Southern and Midwest. Check the rules.

Yeah, Midway thruls are crazy.

But anyway, on a more serious note, you know you mentioned it.

That nil is a business. So at what point, you know, businesses are officially influenced by the comyne, At what point does NIL begin to price this stuff out of the market, or.

I think it's gonna go down.

I think starting, I think we got one or two more years, maybe just one of the wild wat and then I think the market's gonna start to control itself. So I do not believe that we're gonna see these outrageous sums forever. Because the thing is, some people are not gonna get a return on their investment, right like I mean, the teams are not gonna be as good so I've been. And plus I think we're gonna get rules at some point in the next couple of years. So I think I said this a couple of weeks ago. The kids in this class and next year's class, they're the lucky ones. They're gonna get more money. But I think after this it starts to calm down. There starts to be an equilibrium, because there comes a point that people are.

Just not gonna continue to up up up the money. Matt appreciate it. That's at least my belief.

We'll see if I end up being correct.

The think about the Kentucky basketball, Kentucky football. The donors that are now coming back to Kentucky basketball. Have they all those old donors and they all come back? He's still talking just a couple.

Well, some of them are dead, the old donors, I mean, but there are people and families who've been part of Let's just use Kentucky football as an example, all right. I know that there are four or five people that have given a lot of money. If we were to go three and nine, do you think they're gonna want to give that same amount of money next year?

Probably not?

Probably not. And I think that's gonna be how it is everywhere. I think it's going to be a little bit like. This is what has to worry you if you have bad years, because I think in the nil world, the cycle of bad years can be hard to control. All Right, you don't win, that makes people give you less money. If they give you less money, it's gonna be harder to go get players, which is gonna make it harder for you to win, and that cycle is going to be hard to get out of.

On the other side, if you win, I think people.

Are gonna be more likely to give money, which is going to make it more likely for you to have success.

And I think that cycle, when you get.

Started spinning in it, it's gonna be very important to keep that momentum going because if you start going in the other direction, Drew, it can like it could really lead to a quick downfall of a program.

Oh yeah, uh, look at Mark Pope right now on fire this offseason. Nil is in a great spot. You go beat Duke in the third game of the year, You're gonna see more come ins and you're gonna stick around. That energy's gonna get even bigger. Now it wouldn't in that one off it when you wouldn't lose it. But I'm just saying that'd be a great way to maintain that keep it going for Pope, who is just starting his career at UK as a coach.

One of the things I thought was fascinating is one of these websites, I think it might have been on three ranked the eight basketball collectives that were doing the best basically raising the most money. And what I found fascinating is of the eight, seven of them had brand new coaches, seven of them had the only one that was Kansas that had the same coach.

I found that interesting because what that says to.

Me is probably the best way to change your innile fortunes is going to be to change your coach. If things aren't going well, change your coach. It readds energy people decide to donate. So I think what you might see in this innile world is that teams are quicker to just hit reset so that their innil can restart. If seven of the top eight in college basketball have new coaches, because it was like Kentucky, Arkansas, Louisville, Michigan, these schools BYU BYU was one, Kansas was the only one that that had kept going. And I think that's just an interesting developed.

People don't want their new coach to fail. And you know, current coaches, they've been places long enough that they've soured relationships, not as much energy behind them from the fans. Whereas like just so Pope, when Pope touched down, our donors said, we want to give him the best opportunity to succeed.

Promo coks are thirty percent off our good friends at corn at him Full Spectrum Flower only Him CBD two quick baseball things. The White Sox won again. They keep trying to break the record for most losses and they keep winning. So all these people continue to go to the games, and they keep they keep getting.

Screwed over there?

Are you still betting them? Ryan was betting them every game.

I've bet the White Sox to lose every game since like late July.

So did you bet the ones they've been winning? I did.

Last two games I've lost because I bet them both to lose both games.

Tonight is also the last Oakland A's game in Oakland. They are moving at the end of this year, the last Oakland A's game. There's a movement of people to show up and just boo the owner the entire game for moving the team.

But this will be think about the Oakland A's.

That's Mark McGuire, Jose Consecois Eckersley, Dave Henders, Stewart, Ricky Henderson, give.

Me some more, A's Reggie Jackson, Fish Hunter, Terry Times.

He started that all.

Of these fake camping eras, all of.

These famous Oakland A's, Walt why So are all headed.

Out as they move. It's kind of sad. It is very sad.

The Oakland A's franchise has been one that has just been synonymous with baseball because they'll have this great run, I got two or three year great run, and then they'll totally stink.

For two or three. Did somebody say Dave Kingman.

Did he play for the A's. I'm probably he probably did.

Jason giom beat Did we say.

Jason and a Jeremy Right, come on, let's do some.

More rolly Catfish hunter, catfish.

Hunter, Gene Tennis is a great tribute?

Uh huh. They might play this segment at the games.

Probably part of the problem is we've gone and not mentioned a player from the last fifteen years.

That's maybe part of the reason they're moving is we've yet to get from the modern era.

I don't have one. I don't have one.

Can you think of one from the last fifteen years? Can you you're you're twenty five? Can you think of ah Oakland a?

No?

He doesn't even seem to know what the Oakland A's are the baseball team.

Do you know one?

So I was in Europe and I was eating at an Indian restaurant, I want to say, in Vienna, and there were two women sitting at the table across from me, and one of them had an Oakland A's hat. Wow, And she heard me talking to the waiter, and I guess she could tell I was American. So she said to me, she said, I just got this hat. I really love it. She said, is this team good? And I had to say, no, they're the worst team. And the sadness on her face. I should have just lied to her, Yes, they're great, but she was like, it's so cool.

It says as you could have said, well, they're better than the White Sox.

Yeah, I just had to go.

I just kind of looked at her and was like, no, you burst her bubble.

They're not good. Sorry, who's up neck?

Did you see the A's move that Billy beans Bill?

It was really good, really good movie.

Matt Matt Olsen, by the way, I know him because the Braves Trader's Yeah, that's the most recent.

All right, go ahead, Bob and Jamestown, Bobby.

And Jamestown, go ahead.

Uh, Matt.

What's it gonna take for the Reds to get back to the glory of the Big Red Machine.

They got a chance now, they're going to.

Stay healthy, stay healthy, and they need to get one or two more hitters. I think their pitching staff is going to be in good shape once everybody gets gets healthy. But they they got to get one or two more hitters. You know. Marte has been a disappointment, and Carcion Strand has been a disappointment. Ellie's great, McClean will be great, but they gotta go get a couple more guys.

Did you see Indian take that hit on the head the other day? I did.

Yeah, he's okay, but like all these dudes are just okay, and we need one or two more studs. Allie can't be our only stud in the lineup.

Okay, go ahead, now, you appreciate it.

You appreciate, appreciate it.

Sorry, you appreciate pitching staff's good though. Yeah, year Nick Ladolo could stay healthy. You got Red Louder Chase Burns coming up. Uh, you got Andrew Rabbit, who looks like the Sirius, the dude in Breaking Bad with the mustache.

I like our I like our guys, but we're just we're we're one or two people short.

You're just the roads O.

It is, uh, it is.

Unfortunately, did you see, by the way, Cleveland beat Cincinnati, so they won the Ohio Cup and then the celebration in the locker room, they all wore shirts that said Cincinnati is in Kentucky.

I respect that that's kind of Kentucky. Is not a put down.

No.

I saw the sh Go viral before I knew any context, and I thought, that's kind of cool shirt.

Did I see that the Reds broke up a no hitter on a bunt? Come on?

What?

Okay? Sometimes you got a bun?

Yeah?

Stop the bun stop during no hitter.

Cincinnati people, First of all, do you consider Cincinnati to be kind of part of Kentucky?

I do.

I wish we could just kind of redraw the district map and include it in Kentucky.

A lot of Cincinnati's biggest stars and celebrities live on the Kentucky side.

True airports on this side. I'm told virtually all of the Bengals live in Kentucky. I don't know about the Reds, but like almost all of the Bengals live on the Kentucky side. The airport, like you said, is in Kentucky. You know, the suburbs of northern Kentucky have grown exponentially, yes, you know, basically whereas the whole South has essentially turned republican. Northern Kentucky, which always used to be Republican, has turned democrats. Have they yes, because of because of the chain in demographics. I feel like we should just incorporate.

You know what, they're getting a new Margaritaville. You know what side they put it on the Kentucky side. They're getting a new Margarita a resort.

Not like the restaurant, like a resort to the Kentucky side.

Yeah, they said, we're not putting this in Ohio.

We got the aquariums side.

I don't know what you mean a Margaritaville resort.

I mean there's like Margaritaville restaurants where you just go get a play to nachos and margarita.

But this is like hotels.

They're having a Margaritaville hotel.

It's huge. It's a big deal. Where is it Newport? It's in Newtill. I saw they've already started. They cleared the land. It's a couple of years away. You know, Jimmy didn't get see it through. The point is they wanted Kentucky to have it, so.

They bought Ohio.

They believe that people who are like I want to go to the Margaritaville resort. Will want to do it in Newport, Kentucky.

There.

Yeah, Mike Franklin will be there every weekend. I will be there most weekends. It's a big deal. Matt and Ohio didn't get it.

We got it, Okay, No, I mean the Newport and all those places are so much better than they used to they were, but still I wouldn't have thought that they would get a Margaritaville resort.

I want that shirt.

Cincinnati's in Kentucky. Cincinnati's in Kentucky. I like they considered to put down. I consider it a compliment. All right, Tomorrow we.

Are at ham Day's.

I learned that to throw the Hey, it's how far it rolls. So keep that in mind as you're working on your technique getting ready for tomorrow.

Can we own a bell?

Bell?

Hey?

Even place lots, it's pretty heavy. I have no idea what I'm gonna go. Fifty.

Yeah, I'm gonna go. Yeah, it's gonna be something I can easily. I've been I've been lifting, pushing and pulling. So we will be there tomorrow. Remember, if it rains, they'll have us in the gym. Hope you'll come out and then I'll see all you guys in Oxford. We'll see tomorrow. This has been Kentucky Sports Radio.
