If you call TJ, he'll make them pay. I have to tell you this is what I love about the Kentucky fan base. When we lost to South Carolina last week, I thought to myself, you know, Country Boys one of my favorite shows. It might just be us talking to DH when we get there. I think the fan base is kind of down, They're not all that excited about it. And then of course we see this crowd. Look at this crowd here Ryan today in Georgetown. Even though even though Kentucky, even though Kentucky is down, having the more difficult time they've had in football in the Stoops area, you still get a massive show showing here on Friday morning.
Man. This is why we do what we do. This is why we go and do these shows.
You know how many times say I love that Drew smiles. The string. This is why we do what we do. There's the string right there.
Another proof, another example, had a great crowd of bowling green yesterday and Georgetown every time we come here, it's always packed.
And we all three of us laughed at the same time. And we haven't even talked about it before.
We know, right, we do it for you people.
It's exactly right. Thank you all very much for coming out. We were driving up here. Mario was riding with me because we're going to Green Bay right after the show, and he said, man, there's a lot of people there, and I said, yes, there is.
This is what this is what Georgetown does every time we come.
They were here at eight o'clock this morning drinking beer when I walk in. Nice This right here is a crowd that has not given up on Kentucky football yet.
Well, you know what, even if we even if we're not good this year, and hopefully we still will be, this group is still gonna have fun.
And that's the most important thing. I guess.
Two eight twenty two eighty seven. We are here at Country Boy Brewing. It's they have a new beer for the tailgate season.
It is It is.
Country Light, a beer for all drinkers. Part of the proceeds go to nil. You can go come into Countryboybrewing dot com and learn more. And people are drinking them today.
I have a fridge full of.
Them, ninety five calories. Matt.
We were standing over there earlier. I don't know which one of you did it, but Drew and I were talking. Drew looked away, and when he looked back up, someone had stolen his.
Beer and walked away. I don't know which one of you did that, but I have to say that's quite a move to steal some bunny's beer. Right as we're going on.
Them out ran into is.
When I lost that beer, three people went to get me another one, So now I have three beers.
It didn't really work out in my favor. Maybe it did. We'll see how today goes.
Cats play Georgia. The spread is now twenty four point for the game. Yesterday I saw the Georgia team bus drive by my house, so the Georgia team is here. Game is at seven o'clock. A lot of people are seven thirty. A lot of people have been asking about watching it Just so you know, the game is on ABC, which in Lexington even if you have direct TV, just like last week, you can still watch it. In Louisville, actually you can't watch it on ABC if you have direct TV, but in Lexington you still can. I'm not sure why that's the case, but in Lexington the game is still on twenty four point spread. We learned this week Game Day would have been here tomorrow. We learned Kirk herber Street would have called the game, and stead we get Greg McElroy, who is who I think is a great announcer, but who we had last week, and now we have Georgia.
We've been kind of bummed this week.
Is there anything that makes you feel like, Drew we might be the game might be closer than we thought.
Absolutely, I'm so predictable. When I woke up this morning, I forgot all about last Saturday. I knew this rom was in front of me with these fans. I knew driving over here this remote would change my opinion. I don't think Kentucky's gonna win, but I have talked myself into a good bounce back performance. You know, everyone's opinion of what that looks like is different. But I do think at the end of the game it will be lost, but we'll say, you know what, we still might have something here moving forward.
I think this fan base and maybe the team as well, but the fan base definitely needs a game on Saturday where we don't feel like we were embarrassed and run off the field. I worry if we were to lose by forty that this fan base would kind of check out, which would be really unfortunate with none games left. I also think, though, Ryan, if you're able to be competitive, I think the key. I'm less concerned about what the score final than the competitive, meaning like we've been competitive with them. Three of the last four years. We were not competitive with them. Last year that game was never competitive. The other three years it was competitive. I feel like we need that for this fan base.
I'm in that boot oh right there. I needed to get my spirits back up.
A little bit.
But the thing about like, you know, last year we lost to South Carolina, came back the next week and beat a good Louisville team at Louisville.
So I think that's something about Stoops's teams.
They come back with a little fight when maybe they get punching them out, they come back a little strong or a little tougher that next week.
That's what I'm hanging my head.
He's always been good about that, But that's why I want to see it. To be honest with you, I want to That's what the most disheartening thing to.
Me last week was.
We talked about it when they went down seventeen to six, that they quit. Yeah, I mean they just quit at seventeen six, and they shouldn't have been down seventeen six.
They should have probably been leading, but they weren't. But then they quit.
And then you heard Mark Stoops say that in the postgame press conference. He said, they we stopped fighting. I gotta see Drew them fight on Saturday in order to feel like something can happen with the rest of the year.
Yeah, and I'm expecting it. Not just the energy of being here at Country Boy, but Stoops teams always bounced back. Like I said, might not be win, but I think they'll at least put a performance together you can be a little proud of. It just really stinks to George's the opponent this week. I'd rather be at Florida where you go win one and just shake that game off. I hate the matchup, but I really think he'll have them bounce back, maybe a little back against the wall situation. We heard about captains coming into his office with their frustrations. I mean, they know that they dropped the ball, and I think they'll respond, all right.
So I want to take a poll of people here. I want to see a notion of where the fan base is. We have left games against Murray, Ohio, Vandy.
Florida, Auburn, Louisville.
Those are seven very winnable games, and then we have the three more difficult excuse me, six winnable games, and then we have the four more difficult I want to ask how you give me how you genuinely feel, not what you hope you feel.
All right, how many of.
You believe that at the end of the year we'll have eight wins or more?
Raise your head? Four people? Okay, five people.
And one of them had four beers.
How many of you?
How many of you think we'll have seven wins at the end of the year, basically beat everybody we should and Louisville, Yeah, how many you have six wins at the end of the year. That seems all right, That looks like the majority. How many of you five? And then how many of you think the only teams we beat are Murray and Ohio?
Oh put your get out of here hurts. Get out of here with that attitude that hurts?
Well, Okay, So Shannon, here's what I think is interesting.
The amount of people that think we're gonna win eight is the same as the amount of people that think we're gonna win three. The vast majority of people are at six. And to get to six, you basically would beat Murray, Ohio, then probably three of Florida, Vandy, Auburn, Louisville.
That's I think where you are.
Yeah, Yeah, the truth kind of lies somewhere in the middle. I think we could take last week and say that was an outlier and kind of set that aside and not expect that type of purports for the rest of the year. If so, it's gonna be a long season. But I think they can still get the seven wins this year.
I'm hanging my.
Head on this is still, in my opinion, one of Soup's most talented teams, especially one of the best defenses he's ever had.
I'm still hanging my heat on that.
That there's a lot of good football coming yet, even though they stuck it up last weekend.
By the way, I had it flipped just for the record. The ABC, well, no, the ABC games are on in Lexington?
Am I right? Why are people they're not? Yeah, they're on in Lexington. Yeah.
I don't know why people can say the other one, but go ahead you. I think they still have their best performances to call. Yeah, But what I don't know, Drew, is are we gonna have a multiple performances last week or was it a fluke?
We kind of got a weird situation where there's only really three games to define this season. I mean, they're gonna beat Ohian Murray and that's not gonna prove anything to anyone. No, they're probably gonna lose at Texas Ole misson Tennessee as expected. So your whole season comes down to what you do against Florida, Auburn, Louisville, maybe Vandy. They're much better than anyone thought they'd be, but really to Auburn Louisville will decide this season.
You go three and oher in those games.
I think we're all happy and we just go what the hell happened against South Carolina two. One is a little more difficult one and two oh and three. We know it's a bad year, but it's odd to have so many games left, but there's only three that will determine how we'll feel at the end of the season.
I think so, which brings me to the fan base. All right, So first of all, this is a great crowd. That's a heartening, that's a good uh, that's heartening.
But I was trying to think about the last time Ryan.
I feel like the fan base has been where it is today, and I think you gotta go back to.
I don't know, Joker. I mean, let's be honest.
I mean because in the early Stoops years there was still an excitement that they were building something, and it's like when is there, Like like it's coming, it's coming. I think if they had lost to Mississippi State in that famous game, that might have changed, but they won that game. I feel like part of what's hard is I don't remember we've done this show a long time. I remember trying to get shows excited during the Joker era and it just wasn't happening. I don't think we're there there, But I also can't remember during the Stoops era, when I felt the fan base feel like it does right now, I agree with you.
I mean, I think we had maybe some slight hints of it last year, like it was starting to kind of creep in last year and they kind of struggled a little bit, lost some games the shouldn't have, and then this week it's like it's maybe the biggest swell that I've seen since he's been hired.
Yeah, they've talked a lot about knocking down doors for several years. They've knocked down many doors. That's why the problem got in a good place. But everter that, South Carolina, it feels like we're outside the building. We lost our keys, Like are we even supposed to be near the door. It's like we just took a huge step backwards when there's been a journey, and there's been forward progress over five, six, seven years we've all been excited for. But last week just like reverted so far back from what you feel like they've accomplished.
Now, what I don't want to you here though, is be depressing the whole two hours. We've got to try to be excited about it. So let's talk about some things that can go well.
Saturday. I do think we've got two former Georgia guys.
Shit, yes, we got in Theory the leader of our offense and in theory the leader of our defense.
I was shocked when I saw Jumas. Uh, give me his name again, Johnson, Jamis.
Johnson, john I want to come, always want to call him. Dumas said, I have not lost a regular season game since my sophomore.
Year of high school. Oh my, this is a guy who's a.
Junior in college and has not lost a regular season game since his sophomore year of high school. And he said, I don't plan on losing many more. It is nice to have someone shedding with that mindset and that background that is actually on the team.
That is a winner mentality right there. And if that can, you know, spread throughout the rest of the team, then that's the mindset you have to have going into every week. Does it make you feel comfortable a little bit that you got Brock vandergriff who knows Georgia inside and out, He knows their tendencies, he knows what they're gonna have for a pregame meal. Does that give you any comfort knowing that he's our quarterback?
Yeah? Georgia.
Yes, I mean, he's not gonna see anybody there that he's not. I mean, if you think about it, the first team Georgia defense is who Brock's been playing against a lot.
So he's not gonna be intimidate.
I mean, when he was there, the second team offense is often running against the first team defense, and so he's played against these guys a lot, so to the extent Ryan that you could know their tendencies, et cetera, he does it.
Now. Whether that matters, we'll find out. But I do think that's a positive.
I think that is a huge positive.
You know, if a guy's been in their system for a couple of years, like Shannon said, kind of knows what they can do can't do going against the defense every day in practice. Our kicker is right here, trainer, he's a Georgia kid, he grew up in Georgia. When you next see him trot out there to kick the game winning field goal at the end of.
The game, I'd love to see that. By the way, how about our kicker, how what in a consistency? How much consistency he's had this year? That's I mean, he has been he has been basically automatic since he came from from from Georgia southern.
So the best thing with Vander Griff and Dumas Johnson knowing these teams is normally when you play at Georgia, you're like, oh my god, this is Georgia. I'm terrified they they go to parties with these guys. They were in the cafeteria with these guys. They're gonna look across and be thinking of inside jokes, not goofing off.
But I mean they know.
These people personally, whereas past teams, when you haven't played at Georgia, you're thinking, oh my goodness, I've seen this on TV. I'm intimidated by that logo. But they've been a part of it. They're looking at their buddies and former teammates.
Yeah A nine, twenty two eighty seven. So I'll ask you, what do you think the end of the record will be.
Also want to talk if everybody's okay with it, a little bit of basketball.
I heard some good news yesterday.
I want to share with people about our basketball team and get you ready for the weekend. Uh. Mario and I are about to have our Green Bay road trip. I will say I got him started I had it on Willie Nelson's country station before I had him on Willy's Roadhouse. And we were driving here in a song called Cattle Call, which, to be fair, isn't the best song in the world. It's on and I'm like thinking about what we're gonna talk about in the show, and he just looks at me and goes, man, your music's got me feeling some kind of way right now.
I don't really know. So only eight hours more of that today, Mario. It'll be great.
We'll take a break and you're right back.
This see is Kentucky Sports Radio.
Welcome back.
It is Kentucky Sports Radio here live in a country boy out here in Georgetown. Come on out and join us. My cousin is here, Ryan, who lives in Georgetown. As soon as I say that she's gone, I guess to the back. But Linda is here, and that was very nice to get to see my cousin make the trip here in a great group of folks in Georgetown. Always one of our best crowd. It's one person, right, Shannon.
I saved this to read for you because I wanted to get your reaction live on the air.
Okay, Matt, I love your show, and I look past the fact that you're a liberal. With that said, while I'm used to that from you, I'm upset now that I see it bleeding into people like Shannon the dude. Shannon Dude's scorecard was so biased here. I thought he was the reasonable one. That scorecard wasn't funny, it was biased. And you have to tell Shannon, I'm very disappointed in him.
Donald Trump, is that you on the text line, it sounds just like suthing Trump would say, Look, I scored it right.
Down the middle. All right, you call him like you see him.
If Trump had won, I would have told you that Trump won, whether you like it or not.
He did not win that debate, all right, he did.
I also would note it seemed to me you were pretty unserious about that, like you were doing your things.
Yeah, I mean I don't take it that seriously. So for those of you who do, I would apologize to him.
Absolutely, no absolute, you could apologize to me for wasting him another show today.
One thing we learned about Sannon is he wants you to have that American flag pin on if you're running.
That carries a lot of weight on the scorecard.
Sar can I get you to stand up just second. Right here.
I want you to folks look at this shirt, like, not that a man, That is a shirt. I've seen a lot of shirts. That is one of the ones I've seen, and it is right there.
It's a giant, you know, the lightning bolt striking a back.
We had a meeting.
We had a meeting yesterday with the ESPN executives telling us what to wear to the party, and they were like, it's not so much of what you wear, it's what you don't wear.
They would have showed a picture.
Of that shirt is what is what I'm not supposed to wear to the party tomorrow night.
But I do like it. You're you're rocketed, so I appreciate it. Yeah, I'm not supposed to wear.
Let me ask you a question, Ryan, after last night, I don't know how many of you guys watched the game. Tough conversation, but do you think Tua you should? Probably? Is he gonna have to retire? It was once again hard. You know, he's been hurt three times, and all three times have been in a game that was on prime time with the whole country watching, which is partially I think why we're all connected to it. When I saw him take that hitt last night, I was like, I think he's.
Got to retire.
If you were Tua's brother, what would you say at this point after three concussions in two years.
I got to not my stomach seeing that last night because of what he's already gone through. If I'm his brother, I'm telling him, dude, it's time to hang it up. You got a lot of life to live football. Your football shelf. Life is short anyway, you got many many years after that. If you want to live a prosperous life and enjoy your family, enjoy your kids, you need to step away.
Let me ask you, though you know yourself, would you be able to step away? I mean, you're like one of the most competitive when it comes to sports and that kind of you're one of the most competitive folks I know. Would you be able to add what he's just twenty five, twenty six to walk.
Away at that point in your life?
Probably not, you know, because it's all you know. You work your whole life to get to that point. You're playing in the NFL. You think, oh I can get over this. Yeah, you may get olver of it for a couple of years, but fifteen twenty years from now you have all these serious complications.
But to answer your question, man, I don't think I could.
By the way, that's why it's so hard, is he's gonna feel like Drew. He can go play like he's not.
The problem is it'll be fifteen or twenty years before the effects are like shown. And that's what makes it I think hard, is he'll walk around and feel like I'm good yep, and then I don't know, I don't know what you do.
Yeah, it's gotta be a tough spot for him. I would encourage him to step away and live your best life. But you know, he's what twenty five twenty six, super competitive, the face of a franchise. I completely understand why he'd want to get back out there. But man, and speaking personal experiences, you know, our boy Freddie's going through a little bit of this just seeing how it can be. I worry about what he's got long term. That scene of his army. I'm not a doctor, but when his arm clinched up last night and he balled that, that's hard to watch.
Well, Drew makes a very good point, and I'm not I hate this because this is usually one of our biggest party shows of the year, but I did want to. I'm glad Drew brought up Freddie because you know, he loved this show. He came to this one multiple times over the years, and he loved being here with the fans. You guys always treated him very well. It has been it has been very tough to see a man that we love like Freddie going through what he's going through. And he's still he's still Freddie. He's still like doing he's still doing well and he but he's going through it and it's been hard to watch him have to do that. And what I would say to you is, first of all, I hope everybody will say a prayer for Freddie as well.
But secondly, you.
Know, if you have a kid that play, I'm not I'm not gonna tell anybody how to live, but you know, people need to be careful.
Because we've sat and watched.
It with with with you know, a close friend, and I just when I saw Toua, I admit I thought about Freddy and I thought to myself, you know, life is short and football is fun, but life is short and you have to you gotta be careful. So I'm not trying to bring the mood down. But I did think it was worth saying, and I do. I would ask all the people listening just think about him. He's a wonderful man and say a prayer for Freddy when you when you get a chance. Well, transition to who's up first?
Jerry is up first? Jerry, go ahead, Jerry, hey man first.
I want to say, you know, I went to him one favored. I was there ever game one of eleven. Curry, that's there every game. I'll be out there a Commas Stadium, come hell high water, rooting for the cat. I don't care what happens number one. Uh, but number two is the thing that concerns me a little bit, is it? You know, if as does devolve into a three, four or five win seasons, probably will get pretty ugly. And you guys think, you know, SUPs is the same age as brother retired average, and you think that maybe at the end of the year is a really bad year, might take a look at retiring.
Yeah, I have no inside knowledge of what Stoops will do. I haven't talked to even about it, So I want to be clear, Like it's always hard for me and talking about football, it was like this with Cal for many years that like people know I'm close to some of those guys, so I hate I don't want people to give too much stock into what I say. So I have not talked to Mark Soups about this. I do think it is almost certain to me he will not coach way up into age, and I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't coach more than a year or two. And then I think, when you look at Drew how this season's gone, it wouldn't be crazy to say if he don't want to coach more than a couple of years, maybe this would be the last one to.
Pend on how it went.
Yeah, I don't know Stoops so well. I don't know what he's thinking. But even before the South Carolina game, before the Southern Miss game, I looked at this season as you know, it could be the end of suit. I just feel like he doesn't have much left in the tank. Regardless, I've always thought early retirement from Mark Stoops.
He's done very well.
He has the family history that was all before this this bad loss, So who knows how that changes it.
Yeah, we'll see this certainly won't hasn't helped what's happened so far.
We'll take a break, be right back. We are here at Country Boy.
This is Kentucky Sports Radio, Walking back Kentucky Swartz Radio eight five nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven The A Vision Auto Glass Text Machine seven seven to two seven seven four five two five four. Here's what I want you to do at home. I did the poll here. I want to see it from you. Just send me the amount of wins you think Kentucky football will in with seven seven two seven seven four five two five four.
Just send the number.
It could be anywhere from three to I guess you could conceivably win a eleven if you were to beat Georgia. How many do you think they'll be? I'd like to see kind of where the fan base is, not counting, not counting the bowl games.
If we end up going to a bowl.
Game, one person rights, Matt, I think we end up beating Old Miss, But that only happens if the game Saturday is at least moderately close. What do you think the crowd will be like Saturday? And then what do you think the crowd will be like next Saturday? So I actually think the crowd tomorrow let me ask a questions. How many of you go in the games tomorrow? Raise your head, all right, See that's a lot of people. That's a lot of people that are going tomorrow. I think we're gonna get drew a pretty good crowd tomorrow. I think Georgia fans are about to flood this city tonight. I don't know what's gonna happen next Saturday. Next Saturday is Bourbon and beyond. Yeah, you know, there's a lot of stuff going on playing Ohio. But I do think we get a good crowd this set.
I'm hoping. So.
I have seen a lot of tickets for sale online, but its season ticket holders and then and some fan that doesn't get to go very often swoops in and buys them, it seems. So I'm hoping that we're just kind of flipping who's in the seats. But it has been a little, uh, you know, not great to see how many have been posted since that game. How many it was impossible to get a Georgia ticket a week ago, Now you're pretty easy to find.
How many of you all that are going that don't usually go but got tickets from somebody else?
All right?
So this is a season ticket holder kind of group and they are still going, and Ryan, I think that's a good sign that there'll still be a lot. I mean, everybody I know that's a season ticket holder is going tomorrow.
Now.
A lot of them is saying I don't know if I'm going the next week, but I do know a lot. I think a lot of them are going tomorrow.
I agree with book you guys, I do fear there's gonna be a lot of red in the stadium tomorrow. But I think our fan base will show up. I was worried about that Ohio game until you said that was parents weekend. I think that will Our fans may show up with the parents that are coming in for the weekend.
I hope.
So even if you're not a student, just bring your parents. What are you fifty years old? Bring your parents?
What percentage are we thinking, like, I think the stadium to be third kuck Kentucky.
No, Kentucky'll have a lot of Kentucky'll be eighty twenty, but that's still that twenty. That's twenties.
A love. You know, when you're in the stadium and.
You see eighty percent blue, but you see the twenty red. The twenty red does stand out because it's such a distinct so they'll be a lot, but I still think we'll we'll have the most by far.
Let's talk about basketball for a second.
I spent the last two days kind of I'm trying to I'm gonna be like yo, I'm trying to learn the team like I.
It makes me feel like in.
A really weird position that I'm supposed to talk about a basketball team that, with the exception of the two kids from Kentucky, I've never seen any of them play, or at least never really focused on any of them playing. You know, I watched I guess Lamont Butler a couple games. I watched Jackson Robinson a couple of games. But you know, with Mariy Williams, I don't remember seeing kerk Crees Clesa, I'm remember his name, but you know, most of these guys, Kobe Braa, I don't remember really watching much.
It's hard for me to know.
So I said to somebody I trust who's been to a lot of practices, I want you to give I don't want to be the guy who's in charge of over hyping the team, but I also don't want to be the one that's under hyping it. So tell me what I should think. And this was what was told to me.
Okay, the person said, I don't see any way this team is not a top twenty five team.
He goes, there's too much talent and the kids are too good that they won't be top twenty five. Now, he said, do I think they can be top five? I don't know, because I think they need one other dude to break out and be a star besides Robinson. But the person said, I don't see how they're not top twenty five. They'll be in every game and they're gonna be really fun to watch. And so let's assume what they said was right. Right, Let's say this is a top twenty five team in every game, makes the tournament anywhere from a three to five seed, and then we get in the NCAA tournament. See what happens. Do you think the fan base would consider that a successful year.
I think they would after what we've gone through, what we've seen.
If we can just get past that first weekend in the NCAA tournament, I think a lot of fans.
Will be happy with the first weekend. Shannon, that still means you're sweet sixteen. That's I mean, that's still better than top twenty five. What if they go I see. I think part of what has made us frustrate about basketball is that we were bad during the.
Regular season a lot of these years. What if we're competitive and good all year. I think that will help people a lot.
Absolutely it will, and you know, especially like you right, Brian just said, you know, what we've been dealing with the last few years has been really frustrating. I think for Pope to come in, especially his first year, keep the team in the top twenty five, make some noise in the tournament, that's a good first year.
I also hope Drew that when people because during the season there is still.
A segment of our fan base.
I don't think it's a huge one, but there's a segment still salty about the cat in the ending who kind of want I don't know if they want us to not be good, but they're waiting to pounce and say you all ran cal off, right, That's that's there. I also think people need to remember, though, if we have any regular season stumbles, we were losing ten games in the regular season every year for the last four or some years, so you know being competitive will be a step up.
Oh yeah, two things. They're one if you're wanting Pope to fail, so you can say you're right about cal get out here. There's no room for that. We want Kentucky to win every game possible, whoever is coaching. But the season as a whole, I don't think we're really Oh I got a little popp help you all, but no, And I'm not trying to be like you know, it was awful, awful, but the bar is pretty low for Pope to take some of them in the postseason. We lost to A and M on Friday in Nashville. We lost to Vandy on Friday in the seto. Like, Pope doesn't have to do that much to get it on the right track. I understand the concerns around him, but there's just so much experience. I don't think they're gonna fail. They have a high floor. I don't know if they're gonna be in the final flour. I don't even know if they're gonna be in the second weekend. We'll I have to see about that, but I don't see it being some huge disappointment.
We're all going, what the hell do we.
Do maybe said maybe six years from now, if we haven't done much, you can say that, but in year one that you don't have.
To go that much farther to go up.
I think you said that yesterday, the high floor. I like that phrase.
Because I think we do have a high floor. I think it's gonna we're gonna be good. Are we gonna be great? I don't know, but we're gonna be good. And I also think they have things set up to where through the portal Pope is gonna get his players. I still don't know. Is he gonna be able to get out of state top recruits. Let's see it happen once. But besides that, they're gonna get the portal guys. And then here's what I think is important. We're gonna be fun to put like. I think the dudes that play here are gonna have a lot of fun in Pope's system, which will make it easier to recruit guys going forward.
I your guys are dead on, and I think our fan base, like we're talking about during the regular season, we're gonna see our coach maybe put it, make some changes, maybe play his own, maybe running out of bounds play I.
Mean, we're gonna see some things that I.
Think are gonna see that we're gonna be more competitive and adjust during the game.
One thing I'm excited about the thirty five threes game. I admit that's a little gimmicky. I don't know that's I don't say that, but the game where they do it and they're going in that's gonna be about as much fun. I don't care who the opponent is. They're gonna beat somebody by fifty score, one hundred and some points.
We're gonna beat one of these teams at the beginning of the year by like fifty or sixty points, and it's gonna I mean, when.
We play a game where we're hot, uh huh.
They're gonna be I mean we had what was the game last year where we got Alabama in Roperina?
You remember when we were nineteen.
Points or whatever, and that was like, oh man, I think we're gonna have a game or two like that.
Uh this year as well. Who's next? Justin?
Is next?
Justin? Go ahead? Justin?
Hey, what's up?
Guys?
Uh Matt.
Earlier today you said this show is one of the most hype you guys do all year. Well, we gotta get it hyped. I got something to say. We can't let that one South Carolina game all week two to find our whole season. We can't let these speaking bulldogs take over our stadium. We need to show up and show out. We might not beat those Bulldogs.
But we're gonna fight.
And I'll tell y'all what will we go down to Oxford to take on those overrated rabels, Rabels, Rabels.
We're gonna beat them. Let him cook, Yeah, I said I said it for yeah right, and then we're gonna beat Vanderbilt.
We're gonna be Florida, and then we're gonna beat Auburn and then Tennessee. You better, you better watch out Tennessee because coming.
They still taking my call? And kay, why until I die? Yeah?
There, you got a call today? There could I worked for a call? That was a good Howard?
Dan? You just did there?
That wasn't good Howard. We're going to New Hampshire. They were going around.
Wow, sounds just like.
I had a lot of practice.
I mean that, I don't know if that totally worked, Drew, but he gave it a shot there, right.
We need more of that and less of the oh no poor usty loss of South Carolina the game tomorrow, Let's get fired up and.
Cover the spread.
Okay, what if we won?
Whoa goodness not I'm just saying, just saying, it's not gonna happen, probably, But what if we want would?
It would be the biggest win.
It would be the biggest regular season win for Kentucky ever. Right ever, I mean it's bigger than LSU because that year gets LSU. I think we were undefeated or we were five in or something going into the game.
It would be the biggest Ryan regular season winner.
George's one one forty one. They are the number one team, not just forty one. They were last year, they were the year before that. Yeah, this would be the biggest reason.
For a loss. That's exactly right. You don't beat forty two teams in the regular season in a row.
They get forty one. You might get forty one forty two.
There is a little bit of something too. Teams can't win forever. They have to slip up. This team, George is still very good, but they're not as elite as they were in the last couple of years.
They don't have a Brock powers.
Carson Beck's amazing, but the pieces around him aren't as awesome as they've been in the last few years.
Look, we're trying. What do you want me to do? Stop overpaying for sunglasses.
If you're tired of buying expensive sunglasses only to lose or break them, why not get Shady Rays, depending independent American owned company, premium polarized shades. And Clark's Pumping Shop. They've arrived. Unfortunately, there's a Georgia fan in the back with a bulldog, So I think we gotta.
Go boom Is that uggah? Get Ugga out of here?
Yes, now, nobody can hear you don't have a microphone. Just stop, we're just booing you nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven. Let's go over some scheduling for tomorrow. The game is at seven thirty. Our pregame show will be three thirty to five thirty. Uh, these guys will be at the bar. I'll be UH checking in from UH. We'll be I guess my Mario and now will be in Milwaukee. We will have everybody at the bar. The bar opens at eleven tomorrow. The the UH buses start running from the parking lot at what is it five five tomorrow? You know, two hours to it for grehours for the game. He's right, four thirty. So again, just a friendly reminder. As a rule, if you're gonna come, make sure you patron.
One of the businesses at the bar.
We watch. It's not cool for you to park and then get on the bus. One of these days they're gonna enforce it and be careful parking in the non spots at the Dairy Queen.
UH game is at seven thirty. Postgame show, we'll go on after that.
If I'm nine two eight zero, twenty two eighty seven, who's up next?
John? Is up next? John? Go ahead? John?
Hey, I just want to get this on the record before the UK Georgia game.
If it's on the record, if UK covers or keeps it closed, it's it's not an accomplishment.
Terry Smart against seams.
He knows he's gonna win, he keeps it vanilla.
He only calls four or six plays.
Let me ask you a question. How can you say, I want you to be honest. How can you say it's.
Not a compliment if we keep it close against a team that has lost or as on forty one straight games in the regular season to cover a lot.
I mean, if the coach is intentionally calling.
Plays that are less than.
Where he's you think you let me ask you, do you honestly think Mark Stoops is gonna go I don't care if we win.
I want to cover. You don't really believe that. Oh no, no, I'm not saying Mark Steeps.
I'm saying Kirby Smart calls four or six plays because he wants to keep his playbook tight, so teams that are better than us don't have a bet on what they're calling.
That he did not. That is just not true that he did that.
Like like three years ago, when we went down there and it was a game in the fourth quarter, Kirby Smart was not holding plays because he thought for sure we had college game Day was there that week? You think that they were like, let's hold the plays.
Yeah, I don't look UK Football and SUPs.
UK Football and Stoops deserve all the criticism they got last week for how they played, but it will not be fair if they play this Georgia team even moderately well and close to.
Then go well, it's just because Georgia didn't care. That's not fair.
If you're gonna criticize them when they mess up, you do have to give them praise when things go well.
Hey, I understand that.
I'm just saying this is what Kirby Smart does against teams he believes he's gonna beat.
Georgia has covered.
Georgia has covered on just a second, I just saw this.
This this number.
Georgia when they've been a fifteen point or more favorite under Kirby Smart has covered seventy eight percent of the time. That so, I mean, I guess, I guess that's talented in that case. No, it's speaking to the fact that you're it's I don't say this to be rude to you, but it's speaking to the fact that you want to downplay any potential success Kentucky could have this week and act like it doesn't matter.
Facts be nammed.
No, I'm not trying to say that I thought I was going off my.
Past experience where I've.
Seen Georgia when they do this, when they just keep it, they keep the playbook small.
Uh, and when they believe the talent.
Well all right, well the numbers are different than your past experience, but I do appreciate that.
I do appreciate the call. Who's up next, Nate is up next, Nate, go ahead, Nate.
Yeah, Matt Man, I think one thing I want to see on Saturday is brock Bander Griff not seeing ghosts because for these young cues, he's not young, but her.
First time starter.
If he continues to just get just trash back there, it could, you know, mess him up all for because people got to remember we could have him for two years and then I'm gonna go.
Ahead Johnson.
With Inshalla.
Hopefully it'll be our next head coach who's going to cover that third ten and a half against Oklahoma Central.
All right, appreciate the call. Let me go on the brock pain grid point.
There were times in that first game Ryan where even the pressure wasn't great and he was still backpedaling. It felt like I felt like the pressure didn't just affect him when they touched him or hit him. It was affecting him on other plays because I think that scene ghosts, like being worried and backing up, was happening to him the whole game.
And I really think, you know, he was. He got a little apprehensive there in the second half. That's why they went totally to the running game. I think they were and had no confidence in him at that point. They put those two tight ends, they ran the ball eleven plays in a row. Then they had to look to do something the same thing again this week.
And you can understand, Shannon. I mean, this dude hasn't started a game in three years, and then he and then he gets out there and he's just getting hit from all sides. Now he's gonna play another defense, it's gonna be hitting him from all sides.
And I do think it's important.
He probably needs to stay in there and just take a hit a couple times to realize, like because he cannot. There were plays where he had a pocket and he just started backstepping because I think he didn't want to be.
His just anticipating and assuming that they're gonna be, you know, converging on him, and I think, you know, you get one or two good hits. That's probably gonna make you feel that way, like you know, you have no no room to breathe back there.
Will the offensive line be better, dru, I mean, it's hard to say they're gonna be worse.
That's about just playing numbers game here.
Now.
I know Jacker Burton still needs to be better, but him being out, that's a big deal. You're you're putting in probably Dylan Ray in that spot. You've got Gerald Minci who's hurt. They have him listed it probable on these new fancy injury reports that I really like, by the way, But still you're gonna be watching some freshmen play, make their first play, their first naps on the offensive against Georgia.
That's very concerning.
Now with Brock Vandergriff, I don't want to make a big opinion about him after last week, but he does when the first guy's not there, he tucks it pretty quickly. And I know a lot of that's on the offensive line, but that can't be the case forever. You gotta you gotta stand in the pocket and see it through.
About Vandergriff being in the uh uh listed on the injury report is probable?
Is there a chance. Is there a chance he doesn't play?
I think he'll play. How much I don't know. We're already down, boy man.
How much you think he's like potentially out for some of the game.
Maybe that because I think they're gonna have to play Whimsit just because they can run the ball better with him in there.
You know where we're down and running back.
But you don't think it's because of injury.
I don't think it's because of injury.
Something happened in the Southern Miss game, He's said in the postgame interviews kind of I don't know if it's slipped, but he kind of mentioned a shoulder injury. Something happened to here one. I don't know how bad something happened.
They just added him to the injury report yesterday, so that it's something.
I don't know what it is, but it's something.
We're gonna take a break and come back our number two here at Country Boy in Georgetown.
