You Sports Radio here live at a Vision Glass in Hopkinsville.
They'll repair your windshield.
They'll help you if you ever have any issue with it and you accept the insurance companies one hundred and twenty counties they're in. They will come wherever you are. It's a vision glass dot Com. We are here in Hopkinsville. When we first started the show, the chairs were full and I was like, look at this packed house. And now the same people are here, but half of them moved into the shade, Shannon, because it's a little hot outside.
But we still got folks in front of us ready to get getting a.
Little warm on the black top.
But I've just been impressed with this crowd here at Hopkinscholl showing up. So yeah, thanks everybody for being here.
Great crowd in August. It's it's not even season in August. We are Where are we going the rest of the month. We're going to the Kentucky State.
Fair one day.
Next Thursday, We're at the Kentucky State Fair for the kickoff the Kentucky State Fair. What's the Monday's our golf scramble? Monday is our golf scramble in Lexington. Congrats to the guy who won yesterday. A lot of people sent me there. I sent the winner. The first person two thirty seven. I did, like I got a message from somebody last night. They looked at the picture I took in Hopkinsville and said, you guys don't look a day over two hundred and thirty six, which I thought was a really which I thought was a really good line. But it seemed like most people that struggle with the age, they really struggled.
With the fact that Ryan is older than people think. Yeah, and so is Max. That's where they messed up.
They kind of knew what the three of us and Mario were, but they thought you'd be like early fifties, and they thought.
Max was like mid twenties, and they didn't get those ages.
I ought, to be honest, I was surprised when Max said he was thirty one. I thought he was like twenty seven. That's what I would have guessed.
One hundred and twenty five is the worst guess in the history of trivia.
It's a pretty terrible guest.
And I don't mean to be mean to that guy, but that is a pretty awful guest to ask to think we averaged the age of twenty one with all of us. Let's talk about the Olympics for a second, because this was yesterday was a banner day for the University of Kentucky. We'll start with Sidney McLaughlin. Give Cidney mclachaum around and Plato. You could make an argument that if you're just talking about dominating their sport, Sidney McLaughlin might be the best athlete to ever go to Kentucky. I mean, give me another athlete that dominates their sport like Sidney McLaughlin dominates the four hundred meter hurdles.
I mean, nobody gets close to her. It doesn't even look like Drew.
She is trying and she blows everybody away, set another world record. It's the sixth time in her career she set a world record, so every fastest time has all her Anyway, went to Kentucky.
Awesome to see you.
Yeah, before that race, I guess they're trying to drum up interest. I don't know, but they kept talking about Bowl from the Netherlands and is Sidney gonna do it again? I don't know if Bowl has crossed the finish line. Yes, that gap was so wide. That picture that aerial pictures of Sidney crossing the finish line and there's just nothing but tracked behind her and there's not another human in it.
Nobody wins by that.
It was insane.
I was gonna say, it's just one thing to do that at the University of Kentucky. But when you're competing against the best athletes.
In the world and you crush them.
Yeah, it's incredible if you think.
About it, Like, you don't see athletes that dominant. Ryan and I mean Husain Bolt was like that. He just beat everybody. Michael Johnson was like that back in the day. But Sidney's in that group of like, no one's close.
As far as like when it's still kind of considered someone of us sprand a four hundred usually the year coming down to the wire, you know, it's a close finish. Like you guys said second place was ten yards behind her, it was.
She ran the hurdles yesterday better than over half the Olympians in the regular four hundred not jumping.
That's crazy, that's insane.
That's an insane statistic, but that's what she's able to do. Then you had Daniel Roberts, who went to Kentucky came in second in the one hundred and ten meters hurdles on the same day. Kentucky is hurdle used, so you get a silver for Daniel Thomas, who went to Kentucky and in the USA basketball team. If you didn't watch that game last night, that fourth quarter of that USA Serbia basketball game is one of the better basketball games I've ever seen.
I mean America with.
Steph Curry scores thirty six points, Lebron Durant hits big shots.
Embiid had a little run that was great.
Devin Booker was locked down defense on Bogdanovitch down the stretch. You know, Serbia was still making shots. But like Brian, I never would have thought that basketball game. And then what I loved is when it was over. These basketball players are worth. Lebron's probably worth a billion dollars, and you could tell how much it meant to him. They were hugging eat like like it's still cool that the Olympics can do something like that, even for dudes worth all this month.
That's the lasting image I think I'm gonna have.
After the game, Lebron and Steph Curry celebrate like they were AAU or high school teammates and they just beat a big rival or something. It's great to see him take that pride and went to get a big win like that.
And Kevin Durant had a quote after the tournament or after the game, which I thought was a great quote, and a lot of people, whether you're on the right or the left, or in the middle or just a human being, probably agree with this quote. They said to Durant, they're like, you're often critical about stuff, but you seem very patriotic.
And he said this quote. I don't know if you saw it.
He said, in America, there's a lot of bs, but there's also a lot of great stuff. And I was like, yes, you're right, he's right, he's right, And it was neat to see him say that and to see those guys drew at like it was that.
I just really loved that.
Yesterday, Yeah, my abaud American. Though, for thinking they were gonna lose, I did not feel great. With about five minutes took that switch.
They were down thirteen with seven minutes.
To go, we cannot lose to Serbia. And then they got it. Looked like Serbia was not wanting to be there. When stuff hit the hit that three to go up by one, Serbia start throwing it out of balance. But I thought they were in trouble. So that was a pretty miraculous comeback and.
If you haven't seen it, look it up. The fourth quarter was great and then finally Messi Russell, another former Kentuckian who's in the one hundred and ten meters hurdles. They did a segment on her last night. You need to look this up. They did a segment on her, and at the end of it they had Carl Town's and Tyrese Maxi send video greetings and say hey from another Wildcat, go Massi Russell. And then they talk about Big Blue Nation. They do an interview where Massi Russell says, it's so cool how much Big Blue Nation is rooting for me on a worldwide stage. They were talking about the BBA Shannon like that was that was great.
It's a big family, you know, and it's cool to see them reaching out to each other. And again, let me look at the fan base that we have here. I keep going back to that, but I mean, this is a big family that we have in this fan base.
Well more Avery Skinner in the volleyball and she talked about Kentucky.
Well she's out there in Olympics.
Yeah, so just and I'm sure I'm missing somebody, but we had we have three guys on the men's basketball team. We had two guys on the Canadian team, one guy on the South Sudan team. We've had seven or a people be competitive in track. We had Lee Keefer win the fencing. We have Avery Sky, we have Avery Skinner in volleyball. We had a person in the diving finals. I mean the University of Kentucky. There are only two or three universities in the country that have had the Olympic I think like Florida's had more, and maybe Stanford and Texas, and then it's US, which is pretty amazing.
I remember when I first got the lection aten in the ninety six Olympics. I think University Kentucky had two. They had a track guy Tim Harden and a baseball guy Chad Green.
That was it too.
Now you just rattled off like twelve people that are UK graduates that are in the Olympics.
So congrats to all of them. It's been awesome to see who's up next.
Bob is up next.
Bob, go ahead, Bob, Good morning, sir, Good morning Bob. It's almost like they whined Bob up and then he kind of gets gold.
What do you got?
First thing they did I was born. They smacked me. Daddy looked at me and said, son, lives don't be rough to get used to it.
And it's a different time.
I don't know that they I don't know that they suggest that now, but that's okay.
Let a smack calls you to inflate your lungs.
So anyway, yeah, well all right, well, so what's your record? What's our record? Football?
Gonna be Bob, We're gonna be good. That's all I'm gonna say.
I'm a record. Bob don't want to go on record. Wants the record? All right, Hey, what do you got tonight?
That'st after ninety years, you've quit going on records. So okay, I'm just for the team.
All right, we'll get nice to hear from you. Hey, if I'm by the way, break dancing just started chatting in the Olympics.
This is I've been looking forward to the most.
I turned it on this morning. You know, when they do the break dancing, they start everybody has to start just going like this, yeah, and then they and then they get going and then they're spinning and it's I'm I'm all in.
You gotta start with a little bit of rhythm, right, bounce they have to.
I think they have to.
I think they bounce so that they get the beat right, they get the momentum, and then the next thing you know, they're spinning around. And it's crazy to see like someone from the Philippines doing it. Like, it's just crazy to see like people from all over the world doing this thing.
But I will say it was kind of amazing to watch this morning.
Yeah, I'm looking forward to catching up on it. But like, what's the music, Like, do you get to bring your own music? Do you get to plug in?
No? I think that I think you don't know the music. Okay, so I think you have to. I think everyone gets the same music, but you don't get to hear it. So that's why they take a second to sort of get the beat so that they can.
Do a little bit.
Mario, what are you laughing at? Mario was laughing at by dancing? You watch it may.
Teaching a breakdance. You think you have the athletic ability to maybe, uh, just for.
The record, put Mario aside. Yeah, I'm the best dancer of this group. No, I mean I'm not a break dancer. But let's be Beyonnest.
I've never seen you dance.
I've seen him dance and it's surprising, but he does have good rhythm. He's a good dance true.
Yeah, I asked Janna Reno.
That's true.
I did.
I did grind with Jared and jannit Reno. It's not the proudest moment in my life. Who's up next?
Got Luke up next?
Luke, go ahead, Loup.
I just think it was an introcious comment that we was kind of compared to Indiana.
Back Yeah right there.
I mean that might have been worse than the one hundred and twenty five guests from yesterday.
Yeah.
I hate that because it's the thing that people want to be negative, is they're like, let's not be Indiana. But I mean, and he hasn't won a title in thirty seven years. But more pertly to me, take the last twenty years, Indiana's had one good year. They got they they went on a tournament run in like two thousand and three, two whatever.
They weren't even good that year. They just went on a run to the finals.
And then they've had one good season with Oladipo and the Zeller kid, and even that year they lost in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
So I just I refuse to take the Indiana comparison.
And I think, look go up back and look at tvt's tweets of the millions of bill games. They was like, they're forty nine other states from and it's just basketball, and this is Kentucky. I don't think you bowled thirteen thousand into an arena for an alumni game.
Totally agree with you, Totally agree with you. I think I appreciate the call. I think the the Louisville and Kentucky TVT game is the reason why Kentucky is definitively the best state for college basketball in America, better than Indiana, better than Kansas, better than North Carolina, because there's no other place three where that would happen.
Yeah, and if Indiana hired a former coach, would they get even a thousand people on a Sunday to go celebrate that like we had with Pope. It's no no comparison the fan base, and certainly no comparison to the results of the last three decades and how many time titles since they've had one, how many.
Times in these other places, it's as a media member gonna get punched by a random fan.
That's true. I think I'm unique in that. Yeah, still filled it a little bit. Still still I recovered you.
Wow, all right, who's up next? Justin? Justin? Eight five, nine eighty seven? Go ahead? Hey guys.
Uh So, I started a master's degree at Oklahoma this past spring and I started getting emails from the student union to said, I'm out to our fifteenth rink basketball team pre jury and two dollar beers. So my question, how much does that price go up when Kentucky starts playing them?
And then I got one, Well, I mean, yeah, go ahead.
Who makes the KSR logo first?
Mario or Billy?
Oh, that's a great question. I appreciate it. You know, that's a really great question. I appreciate that. You know, I don't know.
I don't know.
I mean, Billy. We probably put them both on at the same time to to do it.
But I think you have that room for one. What are we doing?
No, you're not doing that to me, big enough, not doing that to me.
One of things I've liked over the years is watching the rivalries develop and there's gonna be a Billy Mario rivalry.
I just feel it. I feel like it's coming Ryan, don't you.
Well, we talked a little bit about this last night our road trip to Seattle. We probably can't take six of us. Where who's gonna make not make the cut.
Billy's at a disadvantage where he has to live at the station.
Mario, tell me about Stockton Mortgage.
Stockton Mortgage.
I told the story earlier this week, and somebody sent me a text mes said to think I made that up.
I did not make it up.
A couple of us Stockton Mortgage to buy their house A couple of years later. You know, now you have an SCRO shortage, or your property taxes go up, your insurance goes up to you, your mortgage payment goes up. They called their loan officers, doctor mortgage. They're your loan officer for life throughout the link.
Of your loan. So give them a try. Easy to apply online Stockton dot com. Hit the button get started. Stockton Market MLS A two five nine equal housing lender.
I forgot one person, Trey Lyles was on the Canadian team too, so actually seven basketball players from Kentucky played in the Olympics. We will take a break and be right back here in Hopkinsville. It's Kentucky Sports Radio. Quarterback here, Kentucky Sports Radio, a vision glass in Hopkinsville. Big thanks to the crowd here staying out as the heat comes up. But we we appreciate having everybody here. Free burgers from Smash Smashing Beef Company here in Hopkinsville giving away. I think they said they have one hundred burgers, so you got it. There's probably more than one hundred people, So make sure you get in line right and get there a.
Couple open lines. I want to hear from you the phone calls.
I wanted to take some today, A little slow A five nine twenty two eighty seven. I will tell you what's not slow, Ryan, And I said this on Twitter and next to the coach thing probably thing I got the most response about. I will vote for any politician in Kentucky who will run on banning political fundraising text messages. Oh yeah, yeah, I made the mistake of donating to one. I've only donated to one candidate in my life, and that was Craig running from mayor of Louis. I guess they give each other their things.
You go on a big database of people who have.
Had and I think they get they either sell them or give them to each other.
I'm now the point I'm getting like nine or ten a day, wow, and probably six or se are you like that? I probably get six or seven from Democrats, but I also get like three or four from Republicans, which means they're that selm to each other, you know what I mean. And so it'll say, hey, it's your friend Tim Walls like, no, you're not my friend.
I mean, I wish you the best, but we don't know each other.
But now they've gotten the point that they even sell them to local ones. So I'm getting messages from like people running for state representative in like you know Johnson County, right, And I mean, no offense.
But the problem is.
You gotta ban it because if you because for them, it doesn't cost any money. And I've been told it's kind of effective, but it might ryan be the most annoying thing. I've literally reset up my phone to where you have known text and unknown text just to get all those out because I'm getting like tons a day that should not be legal.
The ones that you get or do you get some that are a dressed to Matt.
They're all addressed to me. Yeah, most of them are Kama or Trump. But now you get local ones and like, it's just it really is almost infuriating to me.
Like the Kamala and Trump ones.
I get it, I guess, but like local people in repers in districts I don't even live in, ask like it just annoys me.
Drew, I just have to say.
I don't know if it works.
But always replied because of this text, I'm voting for the other person. You have made me pick up my phone and read this, so I'm now voting for your opponent.
Yeah, I don't. It's just it's extremely annoying to me.
Also, do you think it was fair or what do you think of Noah Lyle's losing in the in the sprint and then after the race saying well, I had COVID.
I didn't love it. I don't think that's a very responsible thing to do. I know we've kind of changed a little bit of our stance on COVID. It's a lot more relaxed than it was a couple of years ago when it was running wild. But I don't love that he you know, he knew on Tuesday that he was positive.
He didn't even tell his teammates. I think it's a bad look.
Well, even go further than that. He ran the race and then announced he had COVID, and in the interview where he announced it, he's.
Wearing a mask.
Yep, But we watched right before the interview he was getting treatment on the track, and he had like five people in his face.
So if you have COVID and you.
Feel like you gotta wear a mask in the thing, what about those five people that got right in your face to help you, Like, did you not tell them? Like I just I was it was cool he won the hundred drew, but I thought that was a little irresponsible and then also kind of an excuse, like I.
Lost I had COVID. It might have been like what, you know, I don't know. I just felt that was weird.
It was certainly weird. He at least should have said something beforehand. I don't know what kind of precautions he was taking behind the scenes. He certainly didn't have to the race, but that looked like he used all of his energy on his intro.
Did you see when he came out was running around and dancing. I'm not kidding.
It's like if you're if you're gonna be that winded. He put on quite a show just to get to the to the blocks to get started.
I think the combination of watching him get treatment and all these people being in his face, but then he gets up and puts on a mask to do the interview made me be like come on right, like come on dude.
Yeah, there was even a video surface of him walking around Tuesday with a mask on, so he you know, he was trying to protect others on Tuesday.
We'll see why.
Then on Thursday, on race day, did he just take the mask off and run without it? And like you said, maybe he could infected those doctors. To his teammates, guys, he ran against what if it breaks down?
To break out?
Yeah, I just thought it was kind of laying on his part, But I did like that he won the hundred. Who's up for next?
Got retired ref up next?
Hello there, retired Reff oh Man.
First of all, welcome back. Would you help me in my memory? Wasn't Eddie Sutton, the coach before Rick Bettino. He was yes, okay, and Eddie Sutton had the first losing record for Kentucky and I don't know how many.
Years he did.
I mean it was a weird year.
It was a weird year because they were being investigated and guys like knew. But yes, he did have the first losing year. I think Ruff had one losing year and it was the first one since then.
So here here's the point that I wanted to make. Because of that, I thought Rick Bettina was one of the greatest coaches to come along, simply because he took next to nothing that very next year when he was first hired and he went five hundred.
I totally agree.
If you go back, I mean, for old timers, the eighty nine to ninety UK team, go back and look at that roster and realize the fact that that team went five hundred. I mean, remember that team Ryan which started like Dereck Miller, Reggie Hansen, Darren Feldhouse, Sean. You know that team beat Shack, Stanley Roberts and Chris Jackson in rupp Arena.
That's a pretty amazing thing.
There are people I've heard say that that season was Patino's best coaching job, not the ninety six champions year, none of those great teams, but what he did with that first team was his best coaching job at Kentucky.
So I agree with you, sir. What's your football and basketball record prediction?
And I would like to see Kentucky go eight and four for football and basketball. All I want Mark Polk to do is beat Cal at Arkansas.
Gotta beat Cal. I appreciate the call.
Yeah, I mean, we got it's gonna be here, The game is gonna be in Lexington.
They have to sure, we gotta be. I mean, we gotta beat Cal like we gotta be.
I can't watch him walk off the floor at rub at Rub like walking off with swag when I watched him walk off the floor in Pittsburgh after we lost to Oakland, like we we we have to win that game.
Yeah.
And after being at all of his two minute press conferences the last couple of years, so I'm sure he'll want to do a thirty minute When.
Did you see he already told the Arkansas media that they're being too negative.
Haven't played game yet.
We're kidding too much clutter.
Wow, He said there was too much clutter, and then he said the media was quote asking him the wrong questions.
So now you're trying to dictate what questions the media gets fair to asking.
Dude, I'm telling you it's not coaching. Had hay cut well, I don't know, but had he come back here, this would have been we it was best for everybody, As we said when it happened, it really was.
It was best for everybody. A five nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven.
We'll take a break very back here in Hopkinsville's Kentucky Sports Radio Quarterback Tukey Sports Radio A five nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven. Text machine seven seven two seven seven four five two five four.
At k Y Sports Radio on Twitter one Pirst rights.
Matt, how many losing seasons have we had in Kentucky history? I just saw that Ruff actually went five hundred and didn't have a losing season. Can you all collectively come up with the answer. That's a good question. So Rupp, I guess didn't have any. He had a five hundred season. I don't think Joe b did, did he?
I don't think he did.
So.
Eddie Sutton had one, Tubby had none. Rick had none, Billy didn't have any, Cow had one.
So I think we've only had two.
Right, that's only two I can think of that I can come up.
So the probation year and the COVID year are the only two times.
That's pretty amazing, Drew, if you think about it.
And then to have the history of Kentucky basketball and only have two losing seasons the entire time.
Yeah, is there anyone that could even say that?
I can't imagine there's another one. I mean, maybe there is, but I can't think who it is. Also, a couple shouts out our fan Reese made the trip here. Thank you very much Reese for coming here today. We appreciate it.
And then where where's my guy? Who's drawing?
This guy right back here is drawing a picture of me during the show, But like it's kind of awesome, Like I'm gonna I'm probably gonna end up hanging that up someone. He's sketching with like a pencil. Cool, wait till you see it. Mario has taken a video of him doing it. It is unbelievable. He's sitting all the way back there and it looks like he gives me. It makes me a little worried. It looks so much like me that the like the defects in it. Now I'm gonna focus on when I look in the mirror. But really, it's unbelievable.
I can't draw anything. Can you guys draw it all? Do you have an artistic ability?
No? Zero, not at all? One person rights.
Are you guys excited about the new playoff twelve teams coming this year and what's the percentage chance Kentucky makes it.
All?
Right? Well, for the first answer, Ryan, I'm very excited about playoff. I think that weekend, that weekend where there are four games on home campuses, is gonna be one of the coolest things. That's cool, that's gonna be one of the coolest things ever. Twelve team playoff. I don't know how you cannot be excited. Percentage chance Kentucky makes it with the schedule they have right now, which requires them to win at least one of at Old Miss at Tennessee or at Tennessee at Texas or home Georgia, I'm gonna put it at like.
Ten.
What do you think that's fair? Yes, I'm very excited about it.
Yes, I think Kentucky is gonna have a season where they're sniffing at getting into playoffs this year with the schedule, man, I mean, it's it's it's just.
Gonna be hard.
I'm telling you, the whole season comes down to Brock Vandergrip. If he is able to have success and have a good year, this team could maybe sniff at eight, maybe nine wins and maybe get in that playoff hunt.
With you pe, I'm.
Trying to do the math in my head, carry the one. I don't know, like if you're trying to like break down mathematically. I'm just gonna throw a number out there. I think five percent.
Okay, where you didn't give one, right, what'd you say?
I'll go fifteen. I go a little higher, all.
Right, okay, I'll I'll split you all and say seven and a half. I do think going to twelve teams and the SEC is stacked as it is nine and three year.
You're in the most times you're gonna get.
So if you can, if you win the games you're supposed to win, go chalking those and then you know, steal one. Maybe it's one on the road, really help you out. It's not it's not crazy. They put Kentucky in with the schedule.
All right, So let me be clear, I don't think we're gonna do it, but let me give you how we can do.
It if we were gonna do it.
If you want to make it the playoff, the path is this, go nine to three and your three losses are Georgia at Texas and then at at Tennessee or Old Miss because you look at it and those will all be considered good losses. Nobody will look the committee is not going to look at those losses and think it's bad losses. Then throw in we kind of need Louisville to be good because we need to be able to show that we want an out a conference game against a really good opponent. So we'd kind of want Louisville to be like ten and two or nine and three or something like that. If you do that, that is a path. And you go, okay, how do you get to nine wins? Well, you beat South Carolina in week two, all right, now that's five.
Right, then you go you beat Auburn at home. You should do that. We'll be favored in that game.
Right now you're at six, So then you're looking at it and going, all right, we gotta beat at Florida. We've beaten them how many years in a row, the last four three in the last four. You gotta win, beat Louisville home emminently, doable, right, and then you gotta go steal either at Old.
Miss or at Tennessee. I mean, it's not crazy.
I don't think it's gonna happen, Drew, but it's not insane to think that that could happen.
No, and you know, it's really hard to pick a win at Tennessee as a Kentucky fan, but there's a chance that Tennessee isn't as good as they've been this season. I mean, they're gonna be good, but that's not it shouldn't be an impossible when you're just looking at the rosters.
Now.
Of course history says you're not gonna win there, but uh, that's one I think they have more potential than we realize it.
Taking that one with for me, the one they steal is that Old Miss. I think that I think that is a I think that's a winnable. That atmosphere is cool, but it's not intimidating tennessee'son and Tennesseeson intimidating atmosphere Texas is an intimidating atmosphere.
I don't think Old Miss is intimidating.
It's not that big played at eleven playing at eleven AM, so they're they're not even gonna totally be you know.
So that's one to me. If you're going to steal one, that's the one you get.
It's a winnable game.
You gotta go take care of business elsewhere, right, and dream mentioned history. The problem has been in the past you might get a good win, but then you lose to a team on the schedule that you don't expect to lose to.
That cannot happen this year.
What was the year we went nine and three, the Terry Wilson year. We lost to a bad Tennessee team that year, or we'd have been ten and two. I mean that there was a bad Tennessee team and then they beat us that year.
So you gotta be careful with that.
And you know the Old Miss game, I mean, Kentucky had Ole Miss beat at ole Miss last year, you know, and they took the.
Game away from us two years ago. Two years ago.
We were better than them.
Two years ago, remember, I mean Will Levis fumbled it twice inside the ten or whatever. Then he got hurt. We were better than them that year. We just we just didn't win.
Who's next, Miles, us up next, Miles, go ahead, Well, welcome back Matt Jones. Thank you, Miles. The show is deff but with with you all, with uh without you all, Well, thank you very much. What do you got for me, Miles?
Uh uh uh.
I think we uh will uh we'll uh we'll be uh ten and two in football, bea ten and two.
Like the optimists.
That's very optimistic. Ten and two. So you got us in the playoff.
If we make the playoff, Miles, you're gonna have to go and like cheer them on.
So we get so we get a big w.
Yeah.
Uh, I think that is gonna be a spad gig. Well, Miles, I appreciate the call. Nice to hear from you. Could be especially I would love it. My position of worry we talked about Brian Van. I'm a little worried about the offensive line, just a couple of things. I've heard you worried about that run at all.
I mean, they they've got the talent if they can figure out the combination and they'll put the right people in the right spot.
They've got the talent.
I mean they they've got NFL taliborough talent, talent all over that field. I mean for one of the few times.
So what's the starting offensive line? You know it better than me.
Oh what Eli Cox, Jagger Burton, Marcus Cox, Marcus Cox got menc from that played at Tennessee.
Yeah, and you still have roster there's a couple of Uh feels like that'sland Forward's back missing one.
Feels like that's four solid guys. Not a lot of depth, No, not a lot. You can't have guys getting hurt.
Running back depth Hopefully you don't need to go too far in your running back room. But I wish they had a little more horses in the backfield.
So that's that's what I think.
Really, they're gonna use Gavin Wimson kind of as a running back and play in the quarterback because they're a little thin at running back.
Gavin Wimson, by the way, is gonna play. The Owensboro kid. That's a backup quarter back. He's gonna play. Now you think they're gonna put him at running back, Well.
They're gonna put him. They're gonna put two quarterbacks on the field. In some certain packages utilizing him as a runner.
And I think when you get to the goal line, he might be a guy.
Are you saying you're gonna see Gavin Wims that's gonna get on the field.
Now.
I don't think he's gonna like do full series, do you.
No, But there will be packages in with They're gonna run it. They're gonna put him out there.
Yeah.
Earlier this week, Hampden said he's one of the best ball carriers on the team. And that's a quarterback. He's talking about you. They're gonna find a way to use him. I think they didn't listen. They had bo Al and they had Cutter Bowie. They didn't bring him here just to have it.
Yeah, like they they I think they they feel like they're gonna do something with him.
Who's next?
Jason is up next?
Jason? Go ahead? Jason?
Three? Five guys?
Second time, long time?
What's up? You're still there? All right? The second time?
Time, long time?
Third time will be the charm I think for you, because.
That that one the strongest call in the world.
But that's all right, that's okay.
When I went to bed last night at the Holiday Inn here in Hopkinsville. You know you got to get used to a bed, right the pillows, et cetera. Corn bread hemp, take corn bred hemp. Next thing you know, I was out cornbredtheimp dot com is the full spectrum flower only hemp. CBD helps you sleep, helps you relax. You've guys been listening to show. We've been talking about corn bred hip for five years and they've grown from a very small Kentucky company to now a national company that is all over the place. And it's all in part because the listeners here cornbredhimp dot Com promo code KSR thirty percent off a better quality of sleep, which can lead to a better quality of life with cornbread hemp. We'll take a break, be right back. Final segment here in Hopkinsville, Kentucky. This is Kentucky Sports Radio Quarterback final segment, Kentucky Sports Radio final segment of the week before we head to the weekend of my first week back.
Remember Monday, we are.
At the KSR Golf Scrabble at Boons Trace, So we'll be out there, thirty six teams hitting the hitting the links. I'm excited about that. Hopefully. I don't know what the weather's supposed to be. We've been generally pretty lucky for the Lexington one over the years.
It's usually just hot. But you excited about that, Ryan, I.
Really enjoyed out there, boons Trace. It's a beautiful course where we have a lot of great teams out there and it's a lot of fun.
Let's do quickly the Draft Kings segment.
You go to DraftKings dot com to download the app promo code KSR bet five dollars. You get one hundred and fifty USA and France. USA is an eleven and a half point favorite against France. But the game is in France, the game is in parents. They're saying the crowd for France games has been like the Duke Cameron crazies.
People going insane. The tickets for the game.
The cheapest ticket right now to go to USA France basketball is thirty seven hundred dollars just to get in the gym. It's only like eleven thousand people, So that's part of it. It's like a small gym. USA France eleven and a half point favorite.
What would you take, Drew?
I think US destroys them. I actually said on the show, I think it's gonna be close with Serbia. I didn't think it was gonna be that close, but I think that might have been a bit of a wake up call. They've already had their comeback and close game. Now I think they're gonna I'm not gonna call it a breeze, but I would take them to cover.
Ryan.
Yeah, we said with a Serbia was like sixteen point spread. We both said, man, that's a lot of points. This also feels like a lot of points for a gold medal game in your home country.
I might have to take.
You're gonna take France. You're gonna be.
Man, You're not patriotic at all. I don't care where they play.
I think a play it in Antarctica, and USA is still gonna win.
USA willam America. They cover.
That's the quest.
There you go, look at look at Ryan the frenchie over there.
Winby over here.
Oh you look at Rudy go Ryan over there.
That's another thing these guys. I don't want to hear about Wimby be in the future.
Yeah, the NBA stars are gonna really show up in this one.
The thing is it is in France, but like France is like the fifth or sixth best team in the tournament. They should have lost to Japan. I don't know if you saw the end of that game they got Japan got completely robbed.
At the end of that game, they were.
Up four and they called a no foul on a three and they got a four point playing tied the game, and that would have knocked France out. So they shouldn't even be in it. They got Wimby. They also have Gobert, but they can't play them together, so they can because they don't they're both seven feet so they end up and the rest of their team isn't good. So I'm like kind of Drew. I think the United States wins and covers. If the game was not in France, I think the United States will win by third, but because it's in France, it'll probably be.
A little closer, so I'll take the U.
I'm surprised they even got past Canada. I mean, Murray had a bad game in that one in Germany.
Germany is probably the second best team, and then they beat Germany too, so I think the United States handles it all.
Had that go beart is getting dunked on hard. Not the Vince Carter one of your ago, but I think he's getting crammed on. In the gold medal game.
One person rates, Matt, did I see you yesterday kind of yelling at a man in the parking lot of a gas station.
Oh, we don't even know about this?
Uh, yeah you did.
I looked around to see if there was anybody there that might have seen it, and I guess there was.
I was in the right though, Shannon.
Well, I would love to hear the what happened.
The Western Kentucky Parkway when you get on it the first exit, so there's like a pilot there or something. The first exit from Etown. I think it's still technically either in e Town or it says Etown exit.
There's a pilot there.
I walk in, you know, I get my soda and there's like a line of like seven or eight people so and only one person, and like all the people working are are like trying to help this person. So I kind of walk up to the front just to hear what's going on. And there's this dude and he's being a jerk to these women. He's being a jerk. He's like, you're telling me I have to go out and get my credit card, and she's like yes. He said, I want a receipt for one hundred dollars and she said, I don't have a transaction.
That's one hundred dollars.
And he said it's one hundred dollars and she's like, I don't have a transaction.
She said, if you go get your credit.
Card, i'll push, and he is he's being a jerk, and he's like, I'll go get my credit card, but you're coming with me. So he makes this woman leave the counter, follow him outside of the car, get the credit card. Well, come back in, and he's and he's ranting. He's like, I had to walk all the way out there, brah blah blah blah. What turns out he paid eighty dollars. He wanted a receipt to take back to his work for one hundred dollars to get twenty extra dollars, and he's barking, and she was like, sir, I'm sorry, you told me one hundred dollars. It wasn't one hundred dollars. If you told me eighty, I could have pulled it up. And he's ranting, well, I pay for my thing, and he's still outside and he's ranting again to like a stranger and I went.
Dude, you were a jerk.
Don't be a jerk to those people, and he just starts going, what are you talking to me? And I was like, yes, we all thought you were jerk. I'm just the only one that'll tell you that you are a jerk. And I'm I guess somebody saw that.
You're getting a lot more bold.
You know, before you would just take the guy's picture and walk off. Now you're actually confronting on face to.
Say there's something about somebody who is being a jerk to a person who's working right Who wasn't the dairy queen. That wasn't that you, Oh that was me and dairy queen, but like all of us were mad at him.
But it's these three women.
They're working at Pilot and you're being rude to them, and then you were wrong, like you were the one that was wrong.
It just made me mad, Drew, so I did. I felt like he needed to know.
I feel like you have more eventful just random transaction at McDonald's and gas stations that I ever have. I'm going to the wrong places.
But I looked around to see if anybody saw it, and I guess what somebody did somebody did?
Who's next?
Nick? Is up next?
Nick?
Go ahead? And Nick?
Hey, Matt, it's Nick and Jacksonville.
Oh?
Rick?
Are you hanging up on these people? That's now two in a row. Did we lose Rick? He evidently hung up because he's still uh, he's still in here.
So how did he hang up if he's still in there? I don't know. I don't know what that means. Rick, You want to try to put him back on.
I'll try.
Is Rick already kicking off the weekend?
Rick? When did you study? Did you start with the wine in the first hour? Rick?
No, No, I'm saving that till after I get off.
Okay, all right, Well why don't either Rick? Whoever put someone on the phone?
Okay, Well let's try Gerald?
All right, Gerald, go ahead, Gerald. Sorry, I don't know to the other guy. I'm not sure what happened, but go ahead, Gerald.
Hey man, glad you're back. The other guys I thought did a great job when you were away. Concerning the caller earlier who compared us to IU, with all due respect, that's just insanity. I use alumni actually played Perdue's alumni in the TBT tournament the week before we played Louisville and there were maybe two thousand fans there, most of them family and friends of the players. That should have been the equivalent of US playing U of L at Freedom Hall then playing Purdue in Hinklefield House. But I live and work up here in Bloomington. That game didn't even matter. Nobody even talked about it.
I us been.
Irrelevant for years.
If we're still having this conversation ten years from now, maybe it's a possibility we can talk about it. But I think we're right back in the mix in March in the next year or two.
I'm with you. I totally agree with you. That'd be my call of the day. Appreciate it. I totally agree with you on that. And I think there is there's no comparison this state. You know, you grew up in Indiana. I spent a lot of time in North Carolina. Things are just different here. They just are right, they just are.
And that game against Louisville was on a Monday night at nine o'clock at Freedom Hall in July. And then they had thirteen thousand people there and needs more.
Yes, and had guys spitting on each other and throwing hills down like that is a and Pudge and drew an unbelievable thing.
I'm gonna fix.
Thank you everybody here at a Vision Glass. We really appreciate it. Hopkinsville always shows up. It always makes me happy and it's great to be here.
