This is Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage.

Now here's Matt Jones.

All right, good morning, ladies, gentlemen, boys and girls, welcome. This is the Wednesday edition of Kentucky Sports Radio. Wednesday, June the fifth, a rainy Wednesday. We just heard some sirens going off. Don't know if that's the testing the system or the storms are a coming, but Ryan and Drew and Shannon were still efforting Tom hard. He must be out like fishing up his six mile jog this morning.

Well, I think Tom was on Tom. I think it's us that have our technicals are being difficult again. Is that I don't want it to be sounding like Tom's late. It's a it's on our end, I believe.

Well. The funny thing is, he texted me late last night, like about eleven o'clock, said I can't do it tomorrow. Sorry, Bud. That was it. That was the That was the entire text. Now all of a sudden, he we're having trouble getting He makes me wonder well, maybe he was being not being funny, he was being real.

Well, GM, Billy is efforting. You know, I bragged about Billy yesterday at the end of the show. We're starting today's show with Billy back at work hard. But hopefully we all hear from Tom soon.

So as always, Kick Sports Radio sponsored every edition by the T. J. Smith Law Office. Drew, you do it? What does he do? He will make you pay, make you make them pay, make you pay, make them pay.

No, he won, But I.

Mean he's saying to make he's gonna make He's gonna make them pay.

Yeah, Toms, Tom's calling me.

Let me answer this, Harry On, and we'll have our whiskey Thief song of the day, Our Clark's Pumping Shop. Phone numbers eight five nine two, eight oh two two eight seven, and we may eventually get our Kentucky branded tweet called X to the Day. All that coming up on this edition of Kentucky's Ports Radio. A lot to talk about today, so we're hoping Big Tommy gets in here. A lot of people excited about it. Mario made a couple really cool graphics promoting tom Hart's appearance on the show today. So we're ready to.

Go, maybe some guests. You know, the group text was very active last night. Yeah, trying to plan a show. I'm just so proud of everyone, and this is so new to me. I'm used to just showing up and not having a clue what's going on. And once again, even though he's not here on the air with us, there is at least some prep going into today's show.

Well, you mentioned surprise guests. We are gonna get Coach Minjion. There was a chance when I called yesterday he was gonna come actually and join us here at the restaurant, but they've got like a bunch of media obligations going on this morning and meetings and stuff getting ready for the super Regional this weekend, so he's gonna call in and join us at eleven thirty. I'm excited about getting coach minj on this morning him.

I think Tom mentioned Wes Clements from the PAC twelve. We'll pull back the Kurt on Oregon State. You know, we don't know a whole lot about Oregon State baseball for being honest with our listeners, so he's gonna pop on and educate us all before the big supers this week. Yeah, or at least that's what I was told in our show notes, in our show prep text messages.

You know, all when you talked about Oregon State yesterday, we knew that Rich Brooks was from there.

Yeah, played there.

Mitch Barnhardt was there as an ad for a while. I did remember that Chad Johnson and who tj. Huschman Zada were both Oregon State guys that played for the Bengals. Do you know anything else about the Oregon State Beavers?

Doesn't cal do a podcast with the coach or former coach like Obama's brother in law or something.

Is that an Oregon State coach?

I believe so I can't give you the name, but he at one time coached to Oregon State.

So, now, ladies and gentlemen, without further ado, here he is six ' three, two hundred and five pounds, just finished his six mile jog this morning, a graduate of the University of Misery. Ladies, gentlemen, give it up for mister Tom Hart.

Yay, I haven't been two hundred five pounds in quite some time, but I appreciate that. Thank you.

We're trying to give you, you know, very complimentary. Yeah, you look like you're slimming trim. Ready to go? Yes?

Absolutely? Are we ready to rock? I have so many things I want to talk about, but I don't know what you it's not that big, but I'm a big guyana chair. I don't know how far you got while I was waiting get hooked up. How was Bingo night?

It's funny you should ask that, Tom, because Drew and I absolutely stunk at bingo last night.

So on, hold on, it's not like trivia night, Drew. Bingo shouldn't be that hard. All you need is to call out the numbers and then come up with a catchy tune like, Hey, you got that bingo? Yeah, I got that bingo, And that's all you have to do. Drew, what did you screw up? Well?

The problem to have the catchy bingo tune Tom is you have to have a bingo, and looking around the tables near me, I was not even close to all.

The yeah neither.

It was my first bingo experience, and my big takeaway is I had a blast booing the winners.

And then about halfway halfway through.

The night, someone told Ryan and me that that it's not doesn't really happen in other bingos. But Ryan I were just booing the heck out of whoever won, and that's my favorite part. Turns out that might not be a good bingo etiquette.

Our friend Ronda had a bingo one night.

We're like, other than that, that's as close as we got to a bingo, but we had a good time.

There's not a whole lot of credit to be taken when you win bingo. It's pure luck. So in that regard, you shouldn't boo people who win bingo because they didn't do anything. They just happened to have the right card. Oh I think, are you a sore loser? No matter what?

Yes, absolutely, Yeah, somebody's yelling bingo and I'm maybe closer or getting closer, I'm booing them. Yeah, absolutely, that's proper bingo etiquette.

Eventually, a small child next to us joined us, so we became a party of three. We set the tone for future generations.

Drew, I am, I don't know if I'm shocked or pleasantly surprised that this was your first bingo experience. How did you make it to this point in life without ever having played bingo before?

I mean, I guess i've played bingo. You at a friend's house, you got a little game, or maybe we played in school or a church when I was younger, But I've never been to like a bingo night where people are showing up being competitive, we got prizes, there's people booing. Yes, I've never done the full bingo experience, so in that form, last night was my first. I've played the game bingo before in a small setting, but never championship level like we had here at Chaos Park.

Shannon, do you think it's fair etiquette to boost somebody who at the next table wins bingo?

No, because, like you said, I mean, there is no talent whatsoever in bingo, which is probably why it's so popular.

It's just basically the lottery. So Ryan, do you go.

Like to your local convenience store and boo lottery ticket? Winners like when they get a scratch off win, because that's essentially what you're doing when you're booing a winner of bingo, right, I would.

I would stand out there in boom. Yes, no, member of it's my grandma. I'm booing you. I'm here to win.

We got your b and your O right here.

That's right win here. Here's one more thing Tom about bingo. Last night, one time there was a tie. Two people bingoed at the same time. So they asked Drew, how should they break the tie?

They asked, you too, but I can guess to both of us.

And you came up with the proper way to break a tie in bingo.

Well, I just said scissors. I feel like it's a pretty lazy way. I wouldn't really pay attention. But that's that's just as wild as it got.

So that's how they broke the tie with rock paper scissors.

Wait, hold on a second. When you have a tie in bingo, you split the pot. That is simple bingo rules. Everybody knows this. You can't. You don't then turn to another game, like if you're tied in a basketball game. You don't then say let's have a home run derby you keep playing basketball or you keep playing bingo? Who was making up these random rules?

Split a pot? Who wants to split a pot? It's win or go home with nothing. We had to have one winner.

I think what you're saying, Drew, it's win or get booed.

That's true, true, But we had fun. You should have been here. You have been to Chaos Bar in a while. We need to stop by.

I'm not coming to Chaos Bar until Shannon puts on a Wonder Woman costume.

It's coming from tonight.

No, no, no, no tonight.

If you can find an acceptable costume, I will wear it. First of all, I was told Wonder Woman's not even Marvel, so that just qualifies her right there. So well, I mean I don't follow comics, so I'm not sure if she's part of Marvel or not. But if you can find another costume, I'll I'll play along, I'll wear it.

So you are our resident cross dresser, so why not put where the Wonder Woman?

Well, I will remind you Ryan, you once dressed up as a saloon girl in an old time photo in Sedona, Arizona, that I did do that.

Yeah, yeah, let's we should not start throwing rocks. There are too many glasses around. Let's just avoid every Wednesday it's a void throwing rocks because they can get dicey. I was thinking about it before before I came on this morning, and I was trying to figure out exactly how to get connected because technology is not my strong suit. I don't know, guys, I would be doing this. How many weeks did I sign up for? Like eleven nine.

July.

Yeah, you're in. You're in for the long haul this summer.

That's a commitment that is college football season. Okay, I don't know about that. I don't know if i'd be doing this if joh Calaperry is still the head coach at Kentucky because you know what happens. Well, we know what that relationship turned into between Matt and cow Right. Yes, and then we've all any one of us who's an adult has had to go through, at some point or another divorce friendships. Like you, you're friends with a couple and they get divorced, and now all of a sudden, your wife or maybe you're on the other end, says no, no, you can't be friends with him anymore. Like we have to choose one or the other. Yeah. So I really feel like I would have been in a tough spot had both parties still been in Lexington to commit to doing nine weeks of this show.

So because you're saying you have this great you have a good relationship with both with Matt and with Caw Yeah.

Yeah, And it's not just Cal, it's other people in his in his circle, right and especially on his staff. It got really, it got really dicey. I thought about that for a moment. I thought, I don't know if this would be a good idea if if Cal was still there. Now luckily I'm I'm up the hook, Madrew. Do you feel me? You see where I'm coming from with that.

I know what you're saying.

Uh, hopefully you would pick us over anyone at the end of the day, if any divorces we go through when you when that line is drawn, hope your team can sore. But I understand it would have been a little awkward when that call came. If Cal we're still around. You know all of them very well, been covering Kentucky well, all the Kentucky sports for a long time, So that would put you in a tough spot.

As we were. We had a small all family beef.

Here in Big Blue Nations, small family beef beef.

All's well that ends well. Have you ever lost Shannon? Have you ever lost a friend due to another relationship falling apart for being too long?

Yeah?

Yeah, it's happened several times. And then you got to you gotta choose your alliance, right then you find out who your real friends are depending on which.

Side you go with.

So yeah, it's it's a little awkward when that happens, but uh, I think it.

Happens to all of us at some point or another.

It's like survivor. Yeah, you have to what who do I need to align myself with? What is the smartest thing?

So, as an outsider looking in when all that was going on, h did you think that col was being a little too thin skinned just because we were being a little critical of what was going on? Do you think it was like us as media guys, we had we had to call a spade a spade.

You know, I thought, Okay, I'm going to answer every question honestly because that's what this this, that's what our relationship is based on, right, I thought. Matt, By the way, where is Matt today?

He's like he's in Greece somewhere in Europe. Yeah, he's in Greece, is still Yeah.

So we can talk to Matt like he'd like, he beat one at Bingo and he's not gonna go. So I'm perfectly fine with that. I thought it got a little too personal on both sides, yeah, because I don't don't think that's a healthy way to go through life. And I thought the way there was a point in the season where Matt said, and he was hesitant to say this, it kind of compared it to the Joker Phillip stuff. But he's there's a point in season it's like with something's got to change. Something's got to change. And I thought to myself, but unless something wild and crazy happens, which going to Arkansas's wild and crazy, it's not going to change. And so you're setting yourself up for a very awkward next thirteen months if that would have been, you know, the final year. It's kind of like Barkley and the inside the NBA guys, if they're done, they still have another year left on the contract, it's going to be really weird. Like nobody benefits from Lane Duck situations. So that's kind of that was my perspective on the whole thing. And I also think that sometimes in life we get so worried about what's happening in our little tunnel, our our little room, our house, our hallway, when in reality, if you, if you like, you ever share a story about, let's say, a work frustration, and you share a story about a work frustration with somebody else It could be a sibling who's in another state, or somebody who's not in your industry, or does it know your coworkers, and they look at you and they go so, what like that sounds like a very minor thing, And you try to defend yourself as saying, no, no, no, this is one of like fourteen things and I didn't tell you about this, and they just look at you like let it? Can't you just let it go and move on to the next thing. Shannon, you ever have people come at you like that, like, dude, I know that's frustrating, but what are you talking about? Like that seems so minor?

Yeah, like that's your problem, deal with it. I'm not your counselor what do you want me to do about it?

Right?

Yeah, Stannon's the last guy I'm in a call when I have a problem to deal with it. Yeah, I just felt like they, you know, both sides probably got a little too worried about what was going on on the other side, Like, if you're the basketball coach, your job is to win games.

Who cares what anybody says about you? And why use that as momentum our motivation? Your motivation should be let me get my guys ready to play, let's go win games. Let's make sure we're coaching a month. And on the other side, you know, I don't know. I can't really see it from I'm not gonna throw stones at mat, but I think it must be very hard when you've had a relationship with somebody and then that's gone. I think it's it takes a really strong person to try and covered them without it's feeling personal. Even if it doesn't get personal, Judy, does it would it feel personal even though you you don't let it get personal in that scenario.

I know what you're saying, and I agree with it a little bit. But at the end of the day, once the Oakland thing happened, any personal beefs, none of that mattered. Like the whole fan base was on fire at that point. So whatever Matt cow had behind the scenes, you know, if they had a Sweet sixteen it went in the next year, it might have gotten even more petty. But after Oakland, none of those little things I think mattered at all. And that's why we're in the situa where we are now. That's why it was weird for a few years. But the the postseason a few months ago changed everything.

Oh wait, is that Tom on a?

I just did?

He just hadn't had off backwards And when we realized he was, we could see each other. He turned his hat around the other way.

Did we even get a computer? So much to learn here?

Mario set all this up for us.

I don't know, Thank you, Mario.

Yeah, so now you see your face, your hat on back is like you're playing for sand Lot, Right've got golden tea, he does have golden You doing here? Look at that?

You gotta gosten Tom's audience. I wish we could share with everyone. Maybe a screenshot. Mario will put something together.

All right, we gotta talk to Mario when we come back to all right, I got a lot more to talk about. We're gonna talk about summer vacation because I know Ryan's had a terrible one or two. We're gonna cover more divorced friends, and we're also gonna get set for the for the Baseball super Regional this weekend. We're gonna talk. We've got a guy coming on that actually knows Oregon State, so we don't have to guess, all right, So Shannon tells me, I'm supposed to go to break and I don't know how to do that. So what do I say?

We'll be right back. We'll be right back the Kentucky Sports Radio.

We might be right back. This is Kentucky Sports Radio. All right, Welcome back to Kentucky Sports Radio. Tom RT with the guys. Here's kind of what we have on tap of this one. We're gonna get everybody set for the back catch and the super Regional this weekend against Oregon State. Ran I heard you talk a little bit about it. What do you know about the Beavers? Lee?

I gave you all my knowledge that Rich Brooks played there, Mitch Barnhardt was athletic director there, and two receivers, Chad Johnson and TJ. Huschmanzada were both there at the same time, and they both played for the Bengals at the same time. That's really that's kind of the gist of my Oregon State Beaver knowledge right there, all of it.

That's that's pretty much it, Drew. Have you ever seen a beaver live and in person?

Uh?

None comes to mind.

In high school, I had an Oregon State beaver's hat because I thought that was cool. That's about my only connection to Oregon State. I do know one thing that they must have the NCAA in their pocket because this nine pm crap on a Sunday and not having to play a Friday game. It's clear they're a college baseball darling that they get to come to our town and we get to put times around them. They want to stay at my house. What else can we do for Oregon State while they're coming to Lexington? Are they the home team?

That's all for you TV people, Tom, We know you TV people.

I know you have thoughts about this. What's up with the number two overall seed just having to accommodate the Beavers. I'm sorry, you're on the other side of the country. That's not our problem.

That's that's now Blano as we say, that's a that's that's bad. That is that is bad programming. Right there. I don't know Shannon. By the way, I don't know what time we have to break to get Wes on at ten thirty, So you keep me honest on.

That, gotcha.

But Wes was Wes Clements was a Hall of Famer at Arizona, great baseball player. Works for ESPN. He called their regional Oregon States regional. He knows them really well. Here's and I've been at Corballis. Like, Corvallis is an awesome town. It's not that far from where they shot the Goonies, all right, So that's what you need to picture, picture of the Oregon coast and goonies. Ryan just lit up. Ryan, what was your favorite part of Goonies?

I'll trying to figure out which one was the goonies that's the one. You can't get them wet and you can't keep them up all.

How do you not know the goodie? You guys? Come on, you know the Goonies.

I don't know if I can recall this one.

They're looking for one the pirate ship. Nothing.

No, what year did this come out? If this was my college years, I didn't see it. Five yeah, okay, that was I going from high school to college. And you know that you're you're thinking about girls and baseball, you're not thinking about the Goonies. So I don't think I saw the Goonies ever, ever.

Ever, not even on HBO.

No, no, I'm fairly certain I've never seen the Goonies. I don't know anything about it.

Did you Top Gun?

Oh? Yeah, I saw the original.

Okay, you're top Gun here for goonies because.

You're taking your girl to see Top Gun. You know you're hoping for a little pound chick poun pound when it's over or something like that. So that's why you go through the Top Gun, not goonies.

Tom, We have a whole summer.

The lyrics to that that you just tried to sing was brown chicken, brown cow. Everybody knows. Again, we'll put the words brown chicken, brown cow into it.

Pow chicken, pow pow means a little something different.

No, brown chicken, brown cow, it's the same, but it's just it comes. I was told after Monday's episode that I had to sing that's that.

That is the extent your boy Myron sang al Green and who are the other people he's saying are so we suspect nine months from now, there may be a lot of maybe a bump in verse in Kentucky after what Myron did on Monday.

At eleven am on a Monday, people are reacting his voice.

The ladies were melting there. We were getting people calling in is Myron single?

Is?

Can? Is Myron have a girlfriend? Myron Mary? They were like all wanting to jump on Myron. Literally, We're gonna make it.

Through this summer one way or another.

I don't know how you make it through this summer. This is gonna be quite the journey. How long is our next break? Shannon? I want to be on time with you.

Sorry, we got a couple of minutes till the break. We got a couple of callers too. We can throw in if you want so.

Oh yeah, let's let's grab a collar. Let's let's do it all right.

Let's start with Ronda.

Oh this is bingo Ronda.

Oh hey, Tom, just welcome back. You want to b b in You one to BBN's favorites. But I had to call today.

I had to call to day to make fun of Drew and Ryan.

So chaos Barr had.

Bingo last night and our table won and poor Ryan and Drew one nothing. It was pitiful.

I felt so sorry for him.

Boo, how do to feel to get food? Ronda?

Yeah.

So I'm just challenging both of them with singo at Chaos Bar in a couple of weeks.

Bring it, Bring it, Ronda.

Ronda, what did you win? I won ks or gift cards, So see it's a win situation. Yeah, of course, on the scale of one to ten, Ronda, how much skill does Bingo take being the most ten being hitting one hundred mile an hour fastball. Well, you have to know your numbers, and Ryan really doesn't, so you know they're sad. I put on our almost put on our group chat last night. His homework was to work on his eighth and obviously he didn't work on his eights or NGOs. RONI congratulate the big win.

That's the thing, Ronda. I think her table was cheating over there, Scott.

I will not let you sully Ronda's good name. Thank you, Tom, thank you Ronna, thanks for calling, and we gotta we gotta go to break. Kenny Loggins will take the danger zone. Thank you, Ronda, and we will talk Argy State baseball and give y' all you need to know about the Beavers. When we return on KOSR.

T J Smith personal and attorney called TJ.

He'll make them pay.

Now more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage.

Here's Matt Jones.

I'm definitely not bat Jones somehowt joined by Shannon Drew. Ryan Mario is in Lexington and I'm in Atlanta, and Shannon is in Louisville. And we're happy to be joined by Wes Clements on the fall. West was an Arizona Hall of Famer and won a national championship with the Wildcats, part of the Conference of Champions that is no more. He was on the call for the Cornallas Regional. So all the Backcat fans trying to figure out who exactly these feavers of Borgia State, Arnor West is going to help us. Wes, how are you today?

Fabulous? Tom Hard how are you?

I'm sensational. Thank you for taking time out of your morning to join us. The Kentucky baseball fans are thrilled about the third super Regional in school history. But as you know, Kentucky baseball is kind of new to this since nickmnjeone got there. He took them to their first super back when they played at their own ballpark, and so I guess this is the first ever match up with with Oregon State. What would you tell this fan base about what they need to know? Just from a very basic.

Well, we've seemed to be having some technical difficulties with Is it Tom's connection with you? Is that what we lost?

I think so?

Yeah?

I think so.

Do we still have the Oregon State coach? We can talk to him till you get rehooked out. Do we still have our guests we'll pick it up or.

I think everybody just dropped off. So now I think it's an issue with our phones.

Okay, Well, Drew and I will we'll pick it up, and you you can you communicate with Tom and get it re reset.

Okay, yeah, Ryan, I will chat. Why you've You've you fixed that?

Okay, we'll hit a couple of news topics of the day while Tom and Shannon reconnect.

That's true.

Ugana Onionzo announced yesterday he's committed to Kansas State. Did you not mention Kansas State as a possible destination like.

I was a week ago. I was trying to remember I said something jokingly. I just tried to think of a random school. It might have been Kansas State. I did not at all know anything or think anything. I was trying to be funny regardless. This was a little bit, you know, out of left field. I you know, he had a long list, he was in the draft, not coming back, then in the draft coming back. You know, he remembered last year he tried to leave Kentucky and came back. Just trying to track what UGO's doing in college basketball has quite been quite the event for a couple of years. But then yesterday it becomes official He's going to Kansas State, which is just a weird pick.

I think, you know, I wish him the best. I like Ugo. I hope it works out.

But I just think back to two years ago Jerome Tang, the Kansas State coach, talking about how Kentucky didn't have any dudes.

Ugo was on that team. It's just it's just weird. It's a weird pick. I don't know, I didn't.

It seemed to come out of nowhere, with the with the list he was considering. I didn't even know they were even in the mix. But that's that's where he's headed.

Well, you and I were talking about it last night at BINGO and you said, you know, I think I may have mentioned jokingly Kansas State as a potential for Ugo and we were talking about him, and I think, you know what, I think he did say Kansas State.

He was looking like Alabama, Louisville was in the mix, maybe North Carroll.

You know he had a list, Okay, but uh, Kansas State was not when we expected it. Sounds like our guests are back on and ready to go. So Tom, you all pick it back right up where you were.

Okay, I'm sorry to interrupt the we'go talk U with us.

Oh no, oh, we got West, We got you.

You're there.

I'm here and I know you're okay. I'm where over there and other people are over there, and we have technology.

Where is Oregon State? Like, I mean, we know geograph ephically where it is. But they have a guy, Travis Bazana, their second baseman, who is going to be a top five pick in the draft. What else do these fans need to know about the Beavers? Well?

There, I think it's more. I mean, I can go over the team and then you start looking at the program right to Pat Casey built, Mitch Cannon took it over, and it's kind of it's kind of stayed where it was and it's an elite program. You mentioned, you know Travis Pasana. There's been so much said about him. Obviously he's going to be most likely a top five draft pick this year. But he's a talent, there's no question about it, and you can't miss him. And you know, I think the best part of Travis Pasana as his character and who he is out the field. He shows up the little league games to watch little league players play that came to watch him play because he promising me would That's who this kid is. I think the story how he got over here coming from Australia goes out to him and his buddy Jimmy Natti, who plays at Stanford. They came out to a trout camp in Phoenix, and then that's how he ended up at Oregon State and then Jimmy said, no, I'm going to go to Stanford. But super super player. The lineup itself is it's a problem most.

Of the time.

You know, tom as skippers, they look at the other lineup and they'll go, okay, so where where are my free spots? In other words, where are guys? If we can pretty much we think we can get out. They don't have any free spots. And it starts with Bizanna, and then it goes with mikeal mcdeal, who plays center field, and it goes with Gavin Turley, who leads a team in and RBIs. But Gavin Turley's hit five to five Grand slams this year, which is kind of dumb. It's just crazy.

I also think Wes. I think it's hard sometimes to appreciate. And I'll let you talk about Oregon State's style overall, but given the climate that they play in, you know, we see tons of power in the SEC, obviously with Charlie Connon and Jack Caglione and some of the best home run hitting teams where the air is warmer, some of the ballparks a little bit smaller, and guys can absolutely mash. Squads like Florida and Tennessee come to mind. You don't see that those types of raw numbers necessarily from Oregon State based on, like I said, the climate and the ballpark and everything else. What is the offensive identity? Is this a slugging team?

Well, yeah, I would say that. I mean it's a team that led the conference in strikeouts in the Pac twelve, but it also led them and walks home runs. They can they get base runners. I mean obviously Bazana guiton bass. Over half the time he goes to the dish. But you can't when you play this team, you can. I will afford to walk anybody, because anybody can get you on a two run home run. You give him an extra out. It's a danger because they again, they can leave the yard. To your point, it's not easy to leave the yard and a lot of these Pac twelve yards that they play in. But I'll give you an SEC team that they played. See early in February. They played Arkansas in uh in February at the Rangers yard, and they face this left hand what's the name Hagen. He's pretty good from.

That guy.

Yeah, that guy probably the board next month. Yeah, so they faced him and I think you know the box score I'm going to talk about. I've never seen it in my life, but seventeen of the first eighteen hitters struck out and which is unheard of. But what I found was fascinating is they lost the game just five to four. So you'd think that they would have got blown out, but they just lost five to four. Up and down this lineup. It's they're just I mean dangerous. Give me an idea of Mitch Canneman is thinking. Trent Carraway is a freshman, hadn't played very much at all, was out injured. He put him in the middle of a big game in the regional and we hadn't seen him in three weeks, four weeks. But Gavin Trotsky, or excuse me, with Jabon Trotsky, he's probably going to hit him the ninth hole. He's a lead out there for anybody else. But they got the guy. They got that guy Bazana at the top. They're very, very talented, they're well coached. And then we haven't talked about talked about Aiden May, who's there one on the mound, who is anywhere? He can get up to ninety seven. And of course you know vlo. You've seen that in the SEC. It's all over the place. So the vlo is not the thing, it's the command. And when he has command of the secondary pitch, and then he's an elite pitcher. The guy that follows him, Jacob Kamats, he can rush it up there ninety I call it a slurve. They'll probably say it's a curveball. His command is immaculate. And then Eric Segura is there. Three guy and he's a freshman. And up until that rain game, I think you saw Tom his command. He had walk eighteen guys, just eighteen guys as a freshman and almost sixty five.

But Wes, that's that is a loaded team. We're up against it because of our technical difficulties, but we appreciate there's the seventh best era in the country, a team that can hit the ball out of the park and strike out at the same time. Great coverage last week in Corballis Matter is fun watching in roxy work. Thanks for joining us today.

You got it.

That's Wes. Clemency was on the call for the Corballis regionals. So a little bit of background on this Oregon State team. Ryan just loves every time I mentioned their mascot. They're the Beavers. Ryan, there are a lot of beavers in the Pacific Northwest. That's the name of their mascot. If they bring their big furry beaver to Lexington, you need to get your picture taken with it.

I think I would definitely look that up and try to get that done. You know, we have a great city here, in state of Kentucky called beaver Dam. Beaver Dam Kentucky in Ohio County.

No cursing, No cursing allowed on the show.

So we're all big beaver fans.

This is Oregon State, Uh, coming to Kentucky. How close are we to the end of the PAC twelve?

Is this like? Is this part of the end? End? Could this be?

I mean they don't know who's still left?

Yeah, I don't know if we might be ending. I don't know who, if there's any of their other teams still remaining, or we could be ending the PAC twelve this weekend too.

There are two Oregon is still alive and uh, let's see Arizona got upset. I think they're the only two left of the PAC twelve, Oregon and Oregon State. So it could very well be the end of the of the Conference of Champions, although they're going to try and claim they still have back too.

Do you know if they traveled? I was, I was looking at tickets, but they're only in the Oregon State section. Do you know anything about I was gonna ask him. Do they have a rowdy fan base? Or we should we expect some Orange getting into election in this weekend.

Yeah, I think they'll have a loyal fan base. I don't think they'll be that rowdy, you know, like if you've got to go outway from CORBALLI and your your two wins from Omaha. So they won back to back national champion back to back. They won two national championships under Pat Casey, their previous coach, they played for another and with the dissolution of the PAC twelve, they're going to be independent in baseball, So it's really weird. It's kind of like I would compare Oregon State baseball. I think the best comp would be, even though they haven't won a national title, would be the Gonzaga basketball right. I mean, they've got this little sliver up in the top left corner of the country and they dominate their sport in that region, and they've they've had national success, which I think is really interesting. I do agree that that is a that is a tough start time. West West has let me know, he said that their fan base travels the best in the pack by far, so I would expect best based on what West said that there's going to be plenty of orange coming.

That's really that's tough though. That's unfortunate that they're going to, you know, fly all the way lost the country for just two games and have to fly all the way back. That's really kind of disappointing for him.

I'm sure you're gonna be ron, You're gonna be a nice host. You're not gonna boo them like you boo. Yes, okay, that's fair.

Actually I saw an Illinois big account put out a big thing thanking Kentucky for how what good hosts they were so about? The park was nice, everything went really well. So uh, Kentucky fans did good last weekend. I would expect that again.

Well, while we're talking baseball, you have a Tennessee batting helmet over your left shoulder there that can you turn that around?

Or is this a television show or a radio show? Like nobody but you and Drew can see what I have here. I've got Missouri, Auburn, LSU, Florida, Miami, Georgia, Ole, miss Florida State.

There's where's your Kentucky stuff? Dude, where's your.

Giving me any Kentucky stuff?

Like?

I didn't pay for any of this. I said, hey, you know we're gonna put together studio. It's COVID. You know what I got from UK. But thank you.

Susan Lax. Do you hear this? We need to get Susan and Deb Moore and Matt.

Yeah, they provided plenty. Actually, Susan has given me multiple shirts over the years. I have those are actually being warned by my children. I come home with them, I hand them off. These are just things that Okay, I'll turn it around for you all you can. We have one more break before we get to the top of the hour. All right, let's take that break. When we come back. I got a summer. I want to talk summer plans because I got some things I gotta get done, and I want to know what's on Ryan's agenda for the summer. That's next. Chaos R continues Right after this, Ryan asked me what my favorite band was. You can't hear it on the pod, I guess, but I said Jay Giles Band only because I knew that it would be a song that he would bounce his head to. Yeah, and I'm watching him on his now, yeah, start bouncing his head to. What a great Mario does Mario? Has Mario ever heard of Jay Giles Band?

Have you ever heard of Jay Giles band. No, he said, what's that?

Yeah, exactly, no chance, no chance.

Great song though, Okay, choice, that's how it's a Whiskey Thief Song of the Day, Tom because it's your favorite bands, we'll give that the Whiskey Thief Song of the Day.

Oh that's great. Okay, thanks, you're in charge of all the sponsorship. I do have one bit of homework before we get to our number two. Okay, you follow me on Instagram, right, Ryan?

I do, of course, I do, of course.

Okay. I saw something on my walk last night and I put it on my Instagram story. I didn't want to put it on Twitter. I didn't. I really, it's maybe a hair inappropriate, so I didn't want to like overly publicize it. But my my Instagram is Tommy H T O M M I E H forty four Tommy H forty four. I want everybody to go to it and you get to click through a couple of pictures, like there's a beer and there's a couple of shirts. It's you'll see it when you see it. I think I titled the question do you think they know? And then I want to talk about it. This is in my neighborhood to zoom. Are you guys still there? Okay, so anyway, that's fine, it's in my neighborhood. I cannot wait to talk to you about it the top of the art. Okay, but we've got an hour number two. I guess we've got a full summer. Like to me, I've got one real work assignment left, which is this weekend the super Regional in Athens, Georgia and in c State, and then my summer starts and I'm basically generally free until football. So like, I've got a bunch of stuff on my do list. What do you do? You guys at this age of your life still think of summer as summer where you're like, Okay, now I get a break or an opportunity, or I'm going to focus on getting a couple of things done that otherwise I wouldn't have time to do. Say, when college football starts, Drew like, do you have do you have that ling?

Yeah, it's with the basketball because football and basketball there's it's every Saturday morning to bedtime is KSR and UK. So yeah, when when there's no out of the games, it's it's it's summertime for me, even though we have a long checklist this summer, I still I still feel like a you know, got to work in as many summer plans as possible and make the most of the weekends.

Ryan, what's on your list? You get done?

I'm like you, Tom. You know, I've got kids, So I got one left stilling home U till sas So summer break, Yeah, absolutely changes our lifestyle completely. I now have to actually feed this kid for lunch. You know, it went not That is a tough And also, you know, being he's a football player, he can only take vacation during the dead period, which is the last week of June, first week of July, so I'm locked in. My vacation has to be one of those two weeks. For the last couple of years was the sure.

We got thrown a cove. This year we got thrown a curve. With Matt being gone two months too.

Yeah, yeah he's gone.

I thought he got fired.

We could have, but that doesn't change our day to day. Whether he's fired or gone. That has We're here regardless whether.

He's I'm just counting up my vacation days here. I've got like I think two and a half three weeks something like that. We're all just trying to get on the Matt Jones ten week vacation plan here at iHeart, we're all just trying to figure out how we can get on that deal.

Not to whine, but my last full week off was last May. I'm ready for a week off, and.

So Drew is taking off here and week two, two weeks, two weeks, Drew will be off, so you won't have Drew in a couple of weeks on your Wednesday.

You guys kind of answer my question, but you didn't.

Like.

What I was thinking, is like anything productive that you need to get done during this time where you can kind of take a break from the grind of work. And all you're talking about is vacation vacation, Like there's no honey do list.

No, you know, Drew's the only one that's married here.

So I mean.

We all have to adult a little bit, right, Yeah, I.

Mean the normal adult things. I don't have anything out of the ordinary. We just we're so locked down in Lexingdon so much. I like to get out and weekend Warrior as much as I can.

That's good, all right. When we return our number two, we're going to talk about bad customer service and what can be done about it, if anything. Yeah, Cantar continues our number two coming up next
