t’s been more than two years since Country duo, Florida Georgia Line split to go their separate ways, and while both Brian Kelley and Tyler Hubbard have gained traction with their own solo careers, there’s still a lot of questions from fans surrounding what actually happened.

During a recent conversation with John and Tammy: San Diego’s Morning Show, Brian Kelley opened up about the split explaining it wasn’t what he particularly wanted.

“I will say, when these conversations started happening about extra outlets, the heart of where I was coming from was really having everything stay the same and stay together and also intertwine our solo stuff,” he expressed. “I didn’t see, personally, for me, a need for a break or a reason to stop. Unfortunately, we couldn’t really get on the same page of what that looked like — we’re both chasing’ separate dreams, but you never know how it may circle back.”

While the split sounds like it may have not been completely mutual, Kelley is all smiles when it comes to the memories of Florida Georgia Line, and is pleased to see fellow duo mate, Tyler Hubbard, experiencing success on his own.

“I’m forever grateful for our fans and I love them to death,” he said. “Still hearing our songs on the radio, I’m just really really grateful from the bottom of my heart. Those memories that we made together out there on the road with the fans… they sent us on a ride that we could have never imagined. There’s just so much gratitude.”

He continued, “Me and Tyler both just put records out so we are both really, really focused on our projects and he’s crushin’ it so I’m happy for him. I’m really, really proud of the music I’m puttin’ out. I’m grateful to have this outlet and I love building, I love a challenge and that’s definitely what this is.”
