Kicking back in the KROQ trailer during Weekend 2 of this year's Coachella festival in Indio, CA, Audacy's Kevan Kenney spoke with dream-pop artist Ethel Cain to talk about not only music but her recent Marc JacobsHeaven experience, and more.

Ethel is included alongside some big names such as Lil Uzi Vert, Liv Tyler, and more for designer Marc Jacobs' Heaven Spring 2023 Campaign. After seeing the final product, Ethel says she found the experience and the crew on set to be "really sweet," adding it was "just so easy, in and out." Fashion, as with most industries, Ethel explains she finds interest only in small parts and sticks to the "tiny little lanes" that she can squeeze into, she admits. "As a whole, I don't really keep up with it, but the couple things that interest me, I love."

"I feel kind of like a diva in the sense that, if I don't like it I'm not gonna do it," Ethel says about her drive to stay true to her artistry while also expanding her horizons. "I feel like you have to compromise on some things but when it comes to your artistic vision, as an artist your vision is, that's what you're here for in the first place. So, if you're not staying true to that then why are you doing it in the first place."

Discussing her 2022 release, Preacher's Daughter, Ethel says it's "part of something that's a lot bigger; it's kind of the entryway into this big story of -- I always describe it as a cautionary tale. I think it's just kind of everything that I've always been scared of, everything that I've been worried about happening; I just dump it into that story and explore what would happen if life went this way... It's kind of a nightmare, honestly. All of my nightmares of what could happen in life, and it's kind of a motivational reason to not let yourself go down these kinds of paths. Because it's my imagining of what may lie down some of these roads that you may not need to be traveling."
