Governor Abbott says the shooting of Donald Trump represents a "sad and tragic day" in America. Abbott says Trump's first post afterward thanking the secret service and sending condolences to the family of the man who died showed the first thing Trump thinks about is other people.

But Abbott says any day with an assassination attempt and where someone is killed is a sad day in America. He called any attack on a public official an outrage, also citing that Harris County Deputy shot and killed last week near Houston.
