Dallas looking to extend planning for high-speed rail as deadline approaches

Fair Park may host the biggest "back to school" fair in Dallas, but another neighborhood is planning its own event on Saturday. The Midtown Improvement District's Back to School Fair runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Vickery Park Branch Library.

Dallas hosted its 28th "Mayor's Back to School Fair" Friday at Fair Park. Dallas ISD families started lining up a couple of hours early to pick up school supplies and receive other services like medical and dental check-ups.

Dallas hosts 10,000 families for 'Back to School Fair'

High temperatures reached 100 degrees on Thursday, and the hottest day of the year so far will arrive on Friday with the high expected to reach 103. It will mark the ninth triple-digit temperature this summer. The weather this weekend will be slightly cooler with a small chance of showers late Friday night into Saturday morning.
