Dallas County has broken ground on an emergency operations center near Highway 183 and Mockingbird. The $40 million project will cover 37,000 square feet.
The emergency operations center gives local, state and federal government agencies a chance to work together on responses to natural disasters, manmade disasters and public health issues. In 2015, Judge Clay Jenkins says Dallas County's EOC moved from a "complete dump" in the Records Building to a former warehouse west of Downtown.

The death toll in Monday's Israeli strike on Lebanon has grown to more than 490 people, according to Lebanese authorities. The attack is part of Israel's attempt to move Hezbollah away from the Lebanon-Israel border, and it comes less than a week after an attack on communication devices killed dozens in Lebanon. It raises a lot of questions about whether this is an all-out war, and if not -- where does it end? CBS News military analyst Jeff McCausland joined KRLD on Tuesday.
