The money is from the Texas Workforce Commission in partnership with other local businesses. It will be used to train over 600 new and current workers in a variety of fields including administration, roofing, dental hygiene, and IT support.

The Skills Development Fund grant provides customized training to help make sure workers are well prepared to excel in demanding jobs, something that is vital to the state's economy.

The grant program has provided training opportunities in partnership with nearly 5,000 Texas employers. The money has been used to upgrade or create more than 420,000 jobs since 1996.
