One of Solano County’s smallest cities took a big step forward this week to annex a piece of land almost six times its size. That land is where a billionaire-backed company wants to bring thousands of homes and jobs to what is currently farmland. President Trump didn’t eliminate Head Start funding in the budget he sent to Congress as feared, but cuts his administration made to the federal workforce are having real impacts on local Head Start programs. At one center in the Central Coast town of Hollister, parents and staff are starting the summer break - not knowing if they’ll have a classroom or job to return to in the fall. KQED’s Daisy Nguyen has more.
