Downtown San Francisco is in a rough patch... planted in part by the pandemic... 
Big retail stores are closing… like Old Navy this month … and Nordstrom later this summer. Following Nordstrom, Westfield said it’s giving up control of its downtown mall … due in part to declining sales and foot traffic. This is a far cry from the BOOMING times in Union Square's in the 19 - twenties and thirties ... when San Francisco leaned in to the namesake ... "PARIS of the Pacific." So much so, there was a department store called CITY OF PARIS.
