What Should You Do if You See a Marine Mammal in Distress?

View descriptionShare

When sea lions in the Bay Area get sick, they end up at the Marine Mammal Center. It’s the world’s largest hospital of its kind, right in the Marin Headlands. The center recently reported an uptick in the number of animals admitted to the hospital that experienced disturbances by humans or dogs. That means getting too close to sick or injured seals, sea lions and otters. So, what can you do if you see one of these animals in distress and you want to help? KQED's Sarah Wright looked into this.
