UC Regent on Campus Safety and Free Speech

View descriptionShare

Pro-Palestinian protests over the war in Gaza are roiling college campuses from New York to California.

Here - over the weekend... activists built a new encampment at Sonoma State .... and we expect a similar protest at San Francisco State this afternoon.

The solidarity encampments have forced administrators to grapple with debates around safety and free speech.

On a recent episode of KQED's Political Breakdown, hosts Scott Shafer and Marisa Lagos spoke with UC Regent John Perez [[PEHR-ez]]. He's served on the board overseeing the University of California system since 2014.
