Today marks 50 years since the fall of Saigon, when American soldiers pulled out of South Vietnam, effectively ending the war. In response, hundreds of thousands of Vietnamese refugees arrived in the U.S. One of the places where they made roots and grew their influence is in San Jose and the South Bay. The community’s contributions are cultural as well as political. KQED’s Joseph Geha has been writing about all of this.
