All year, the KQED Arts team has been marking the 50th anniversary of hip-hop culture with their That’s My Word series. It focuses on the Bay Area’s unique contributions. Many artists who got their start here have been trailblazers in the genre … especially when it comes to queer visibility … in a music scene that hasn’t always been kind to LGBTQ communities.
