A San Francisco group is moving to block the Biden administration's new plan to limit asylum. This as pandemic era border restrictions are set to end tonight. Kqed Tiki Hendricks has more.
The new Biden rule would bar migrants from gaining asylum in the US if they failed to seek protection
in a country they crossed on the way. And if they did not make an appointment using the government's app, it's just not realistic for people who are in this condition and fleeing for their lives to jump through those hoops. That's Melissa Crowe with the Center for Gender and Refugee Studies at the U C School of Law in San Francisco.
She says under us law, anyone is entitled to seek asylum regardless of how they entered the country. So it flatly contradicts the law that we have on the books. Crowe says the center is preparing to sue for the California report. I'm Tyke Hendricks.
