San Francisco has birthed and lost a ridiculous number of punk rock venues over the years — and the 1980s was a particular period of boom and bust. The most famous of the city's punk venues back then was the Mabuhay Gardens in North Beach, but other scrappier, stranger clubs existed around the city.
