Tomorrow marks the 120th anniversary of the 1906 earthquake and fire in San Francisco. The 7.9 magnitude quake and the resulting fires killed three thousand people and leveled much of the city. Since then, San Francisco has spent billions retrofitting buildings. But as KQED’s Ezra David Romero explains, there’s more work to be done.
