The movie Freaky Tales, which opens April 4, is set in Oakland, in 1987, and filmed all over the East Bay. This film isn’t going to win any awards. But that’s not what it’s trying to do. If you think of it more as a composite of all those budget VHS tapes you rented from the $1 rack at your local video store in the 80s, it’s really enjoyable!
