Tonight, the California Preservation Awards will honor the best in architectural restoration -- public buildings, gracious homes, and Oakland’s mid-century Monster, a combination sculpture AND play structure on the shores of Lake Merritt. Raquel Maria Dillon talks with the people who led the effort to restore it.
