President Trump didn’t eliminate Head Start funding in the budget he sent to Congress as feared, but cuts his administration made to the federal workforce are having real impacts on local Head Start programs. At one center in the Central Coast town of Hollister, parents and staff are starting the summer break - not knowing if they’ll have a classroom or job to return to in the fall. Federal Funding Cuts Could Lead to Layoffs For One Head Start Program in Hollister

Imagine being out in the fields, picking strawberries under the hot sun… When suddenly, an unmarked car pulls up. You think it’s just another delivery or supervisor. But instead, a federal agent gets out and starts chasing a worker through the rows of crops. That moment was caught on video and shared with the California Report. Farmworker advocates say it is happening right now in the Central Valley and Central Coast. Workers are being detained without warning… at job sites, in the fields. Now, U.S. Senators Alex Padilla and Adam Schiff are calling these actions “unjustified and unconscionable,” warning they could tear families apart and destabilize the entire food supply chain.
