On January 14, 1954, all hell broke loose at San Francisco's City Hall. The press descended en masse, workers in the neighborhood stopped what they were doing and ran over there; the streets outside and the corridors inside teemed with people. Why? Because Marilyn Monroe and Joe DiMaggio had showed up to get married.
