This year’s midterm elections are putting a spotlight on the issue of affordability. Recent polling finds that nearly half of voters chose inflation and the cost of living among their top issues. That issue is especially top of mind for many here in the Bay Area, one of the most expensive places in the country. So how did the region get so expensive in the first place?
