San Francisco’s gayborhood, the Castro, is known around the world.  But the city was also once home to a lesbian cultural corridor that thrived in the city’s Mission District. A new historical exhibit in San Francisco tells the story of the lesbian-owned restaurants, printing presses and bookstores that offered a safe haven, in the face of discrimination.
