Bay Area Transit Ballot Measure Faces Opposition and Reservations

View descriptionShare

The "Connect Bay Area Act" is an ambitious bill … that would pave the way for a ballot measure … that would bring big benefits to the region's transit agencies … and to their riders.

The ballot measure would include a tax to raise money for the agencies that run buses, trains and ferries  and are facing catastrophic deficits.

There are 27 such agencies, And the ballot measure would help pay for an initiative to improve coordination among them.

But the bill is facing opposition. Just last week … the board for the SOUTH BAY's main transit agency voted to oppose the legislation. And several other agencies have also expressed reservations.

Here to discuss the latest on the bill is KQED's Dan Brekke. Hey, Dan!
