The New South Wales state government have launched a parliamentary inquiry into the management of dingoes across the states National Parks.  

This action is being welcomed by advocacy groups Dingo Culture and Defend the Wild due to Dingoes being the only native mammals that are excluded from protection under the Biodiversity Conservation Act 2016. Submissions are due Friday 17 July 2026.

Dingo Culture founder Sonya Grant is the National First Nations Dingo Co-Ordinator, and she joins Koori Radio News to debunk the wild dog myth, explaining the challenges Dingo custodians are having across Australia to have their voices heard when it comes to protections in legislation and safety for Dingoes. 

Sonya shares her Dingo family kinship story emphasising the need for farming communities' and governments to support non-lethal co-existence strategies which includes a change in attitudes towards Dingoes being profiled as a wild dog.
