A new report for Congress out today paints a dire future for two of the biggest social safety nets in the United States.
The report predicts that the savings accounts for Social Security and Medicare will both run out in a little over a decade from now. Marc Goldwein, an analyst at the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget, explained to KNX News what that would mean for people receiving Social Security benefits.
He says there are limited options on how to pump more money into Social Security to keep the program solvent.
Goldwein says he expects Congress and future presidents to wait to the last possible moments to fix Social Security ... because making changes to the program remains politically unpopular.
