The Supreme Court upholds federal law restricting gun rights for domestic abusers

View descriptionShare

The U.S. Supreme Court delivered a rare victory in court to gun control advocates today ...

Justices voted 8-to-1 to uphold a federal law that would prevent a domestic abuser ... under a restraining order ... from owning a gun.

Clarence Thomas was the only dissenting vote.  Writing for the majority, Chief Justice John Roberts said that there were limitations to the Second Amendment.

KNX News chief correspondent Charles Feldman talked with Shira Feldman ... she's Director of Constitutional Litigation for the Brady Campaign gun control organization ...

He asked if, in her view, this was the right decision.

Today's ruling on gun ownership limited the scope of a much-debated 2022 ruling by the Supreme Court

That ruling, at the time, dramatically expanded gun rights ... and touched off several legal challenges to established gun laws across the country.
