The recommendation is that marijuana go from a schedule I substance -which means severe restrictions to schedule III which would make it be seen - as at much lower risk.

Howard Sklamberg is a former FDA Deputy Commissioner - he served in a variety of roles including on the FDA's Marijuana Working Group; among other things, Sklamberg says the change in category to schedule III would allow people in the marijuana business to deduct much more on their tax returns than they can now.

DEA will have the final authority to make any changes in a process that includes public comments before any changes take effect.
