Supervisors in San Francisco have voted to give the city police department the power to use what are being called "killer robots." They're remote-controlled robots that can be used in emergency situations. Police say they won't have guns but could be equipped with explosives. They would only be used basically after other tactics have failed. So how do these robots work exactly? Sergeant Betsy Brantner Smith is a retired police officer. She's also trained law enforcement officers and is currently the spokesperson for the National Police Association.
