Bob Newhart was a mainstay on American television sets in the 1970's and '80's.

First he played a Chicago psychologist in "The Bob Newhart Show" and then he was a New England innkeeper in "Newhart."

Throughout it all Newhart was a genial but deeply satirical comedic force.
