Before Iranian-backed militants in Yemen started to launch drones and missiles at cargo ships in the Red Sea, the global shipping industry was already facing a growing crisis in Panama.

That's because an ongoing drought in Central America has lowered water levels through the Panama Canal, severely restricting shipping.

And now the Red Sea situation is making it all much worse ... and that might cost all of us a lot more money on everyday things we buy.

So far at least two major global shipping companies have said they are suspending all cargo shipments through the Red Sea....

Reactions in Israel to the news that the Biden administration is pausing and reviewing the transfer of heavy bombs to the Israeli Defense Force has been intense, and divided. 

We connected with Chuck Freilich, who served as a deputy national security advisor to several Israeli governments ... 

He says the news is disappointing, but he says it's important to put this news into perspective.

Shortly after President Biden announced he was holding up that shipment of bombs, Israel's defense minister, Itamar Ben-Gvir, tweeted out an especially provocative message:  

The Tweet simply said "Biden loves Hamas."

Freilich tells us that was a regrettable response from the Israeli government; he says that he remains confident that the United States will continue to firmly support Israel in the short term.

In the long term, however, he has some worries:

The paused arms shipment to Israel consisted of over 3-thousand heavy aerial bombs that are used in airstrikes; that's because of the Biden administration's alarm at how many civilians are dying in Gaza.
