Shohei Ohtani's former interpreter has agreed to plead guilty to two federal charges for stealing nearly $17 million from the Dodger slugger's bank account to pay off illegal gambling debts, prosecutors announced Wednesday.

Even as international condemnation mounts over an Israeli attack inside of a refugee camp in southern Gaza that left dozens of Palestinian civilians dead ... the Israeli Defense Force is continuing its operations in the city of Rafah.

Israel says it was going after senior Hamas leadership that was hiding out amid refugees in Rafah ... when it bombed the camp.  

Chuck Freilich [fry-lick], who served as a deputy national security advisor to several Israeli governments, argues that what Israel is doing follows the guidelines laid out by the Biden administration.

Freilich says Israel hit a legitimate military target when it bombed a refugee camp ... and turned the blame around on Hamas.

Freilich told us, essentially, that war is hell.

Multiple countries have condemned Israel's incursion into Rafah ... and several Democratic U.S. Senators have called on the Biden administration to stop U.S. arms shipments to Israel over the increasing deaths of Palestinian civilians.

Even after high Palestinian civilian death toll in Rafah, Israel presses on with controversial mission

Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito released a defiant letter to Congress today, in which he refused to recuse himself from presiding over any cases involving former president Donald Trump.  

And on the flag controversy that raised the recusal demands from Democrats ... Alito blamed the flying of two flags, heavy with pro-Trump symbolism, on his wife.

Richard Painter teaches law at the University of Minnesota Law School, but before that he was the White House ethics counsel in the George W. Bush administration.

He tells us that he feels both Alito and his colleague Clarence Thomas should not be hearing any cases tied to Trump.

Painter says, outside of actions by Congress, there are very limited options to force Alito to step aside from key cases.

He argues that it's beyond time for Congress to pass comprehensive legislation to reform what he views as a compromised Supreme Court.

In his letter to Congress, Alito claims that he had no prior knowledge about the pro-Trump symbolism of the two flags in question.

And he argued that his wife has a First Amendment right to fly any flags she chooses over their homes.
