Whether you feel like gun violence is a serious problem here in California seems to be largely dependent on your political party affiliation.  

New polling out of U-C Berkeley shows that a little over two-thirds of state voters said they were worried about becoming a victim of gun violence or having someone close to them being harmed.  But when broken out by party preference, just 36-percent of Republicans said they were fearful of gun violence.  

Mark DiCamillo, director of Berkeley's Institute of Governmental Studies, tells KNX the same partisan divide was found when voters were asked whether stricter gun control laws could be effective in slowing gun violence.

A majority of voters, 58%, said that expanding the availability of mental health services would help a great deal to reduce mass shootings.
