Available Air B-n-B units for rent in New York City are about to become very scarce ... as the city launches a strict crackdown on the short-term rental industry.

A new law went into effect today in the Big Apple ... and while it's been cheered by affordable housing advocates and residents who are sick of noisy and messy tourists ... it could effectively end AirBnB in New  York.

From now on, all short-term rental hosts in New York must register with the city, and only those who live in the place they’re renting—and are present when someone is staying—can qualify.
