Attorneys on both sides of the hush money fraud trial of Donald Trump made their closing arguments inside of a Manhattan courtroom today.

Lawyers for Trump were up first, spending more than three hours hammering home the point that prosecution star witness Michael Cohen ... the personal attorney of the former president who was already convicted of lying under oath ... had major credibility issues and was fundamentally untrustworthy.  

Catherine Christian spent three decades as a prosecutor in the Manhattan District Attorney's office ... she tells KNX News that pinning the payments made to former porn star Stormy Daniels on Cohen, and not Trump, was always the play.

Christian says prosecutors in their closing arguments owned up to the fact that Michael Cohen is not necessarily a good person.

She expects a verdict to come quickly ... and the real possibility of a hung jury.

If the jury is hung, Christian expects the Manhattan DA's office to walk away from the case.  If Trump is convicted, she says an appeal by him is almost guaranteed ... and that appeal could be heard before the end of this year.

TV and film production still hasn't bounced back after the strikes. 

And there are fears that the entertainment industry is falling into a bad slump.

Paul Audley is president of FilmLA, a nonprofit that tracks on-location permitting in Los Angeles ... he tells us that the data isn't promising.

He says the days of peak TV... are dead and gone.

He says some of this production slowdown might be permanent, with growing evidence of film and TV work heading overseas.

The next possible Hollywood work stoppage to keep an eye on:  at the end of July, the contract for IATSE runs out ... 

Negotiations are ongoing, but another strike is a real possibility.
