A geyser from a water main break in Hollywood came down on a roof, partially collapsing it. Los Angeles firefighters came to the rescue inside their Rosenbauer Fire Engine -- a 40,000 pound all electric vehicle -- the first of its kind in the U.S.

When the road began to collapse under them, as a sinkhole developed, they used the vehicle's all wheel drive, and powerful instant engine torque to avoid falling to the bottom of the hole.
