The civilian commission that oversees the LA County Sheriff's Department is launching an independent investigation into allegations of deputy gangs operating in the department. The Inspector General released a list this week that he says includes 41 members of the alleged gangs. Sheriff Alex Villanueva has long said these "cliques" as he calls them are overblown.
