L.A. Supervisor feels ‘wrong approach’ used for Metro safety

Last week, President Joe Biden announced the first part of what is turning out to be a package of executive orders on immigration policy.  

The first step was border security:  the president will set a daily threshold of migrant encounters along the U.S.-Mexico border, and once that threshold is crossed, the border will essentially be shut down.

That was the stick in Biden's immigration strategy ... and it angered plenty of liberal-leaning, pro-immigrant groups.  But this week the president is expected to announce the carrot part of his plan:  protecting from deportation undocumented immigrants who are the spouses of U.S. citizens ... and giving them access to work permits.

Mike Madrid is a veteran Republican political consultant, he's author of the forthcoming book "The Latino Century" ... he tells KNX News that Biden is attempting the first true overhaul of immigration policy in at least 30 years.

Madrid tells us that President Biden need not worry too much about liberal criticisms of his border security orders.

Madrid says that early polling among Latino voters ... which have increasingly been a weak spot for Democrats ... shows broad support for Biden's move to limit migrant entries into the country and beef up border security.

With its worldwide developers conference today, Apple has jumped into the world of artificial intelligence.

The tech giant was seen as being a little behind the curve in adapting generative AI tools on all of its devices ... 

But CBS News tech contributor Ian Sherr tells us that Apple hopes to change that quickly.

Consumers have turned to Apple because of their intuitive products, whether it's the iPhone or Apple Watch ... but another big draw has been Apple's commitment to privacy.  

Sherr tells us Apple is making that same promise when it comes to using data for its artificial intelligence systems.

Sherr says Apple knows it has to make up ground on AI development.

Apple's new artificial intelligence features will ONLY be available on the iPhone 15 or upcoming new iPhone models ... the AI features will also only work on newer Apple laptop models.
